...In her article Face time vs screen time, Chandra Johnson says that technology has impacted our lives very much and we are losing the personal touch or what she says as the emotional intelligence i.e. how the other person reacts to certain situations differently while they are texting or while communicating face to face. I agree with all her points and I also feel that there should be a balance about how often we use technology. We should use technology but not at the cost of our smartness, as some people nowadays rely too much on technology. Technology helps us in communication. For example, You have a friend who just moved somewhere else and if you want to contact him you can just call him or even face time him but then instead of talking with him on face time, you start looking at his images on Facebook or other social media platforms, that’s where it creates more distance between the two of us. Unfortunately, of what we use our screen time for is not creating intimate connections. Our time with our screen is mostly spent consuming information and because of this you may end up endlessly scrolling through information which is not even important. What once was our free time to connect with friends is now spent at staring at our...

...both ways and the Chinese will be careful not to become obligated to business partners until they have carefully researched the personalities involved. You will be well advised to spend time building your own network of contacts, but you should be aware of all the favors you have received and be prepared to respond in kind. One consequence of the need to establish a personal relationship is that Chinese will ask personal questions that would seem impertinent and/or irrelevant to most westerners. It is best to politely respond with the answers (your age, income or whatever) rather than take offence or try to inject humor into the situation. Another consequence is the Chinese attitude to contracts. It can be seen to demonstrate a lack of personal trust if a written contract is produced too early in a transaction. A negotiated contract may mean little more to a Chinese negotiator than a checklist of points or a sign of a developing relationship and it is common for clauses that appeared to be agreed to be re-opened. “Face” The concept of “face” is important. It is essentially a mark of status and dignity and it is important to respect the Chinese desire to maintain and gain face during negotiations. The same is true for dealing with subordinates in the office. Causing someone to lose face by belittling them or criticizing them in front of others can ruin a working relationship. Make sure you do not ask anyone to do a task that they may...

Even God can vanish in a puff of logic. To know how, you can probably jump to the end of this post. To those who choose not to skip let us discuss a few common types of Logical Reasoning problems. Type 1: Cube problems A cube is given with an edge of unit N. It is painted on all faces. It is cut into smaller cubes of edge of unit n. How many cubes will have x faces painted? In these types of questions, the first thing that we need to figure out is the number of smaller cubes. For this, we look at one particular edge of the big cube and figure out how many smaller cubes can fit into this. It will be N/n. So, the number of smaller cubes will be (N/n)3 A cube has 6 faces and none of the smaller cubes will have all faces painted. As a matter of fact, none of the smaller cubes will have even 5 or 4 faces painted. The maximum number of faces, which will be painted on a smaller cube, will be www.pagalguy.com/news/cubes-matchsticks-logical-reasoning-tricks-cat-2011-a-8786850 1/6 10/15/13 Of Cubes and Matchsticks - Logical Reasoning Tricks for CAT 2011 : PaGaLGuY News & Channels 3. ...add a lot of emphasis that make certain scenes stick out from the rest. This grabs attention. Some elements in film can’t be put into literature, an obvious one is actual sound. There are many different similarities in film and literature adaptions, but film brings unique qualities to a story that literature cannot. Film adaptation provides a physical visual for the events in the story. The film begins with a scene of the killer standing in a dark room while in a straightjacket. It's an erie start for the film. The killer is breathing heavily and opens his eyes slowly. This scene gives evidence that he is mad mentally and emotionally. This also makes it seem like the killer has objective. The killer arrives at his brothers house at night time. They make a toast. They continue to talk while sitting in their father's library. They talk about their parents noting that their mother was more intelligent than their father with all his books and studies. The killer says he's noticed their father's library, books, desk, chess set, and estranged figures their father was so fond of. The killer's...

...Derek Logsdon Core 7 Role Play Paper McFarland 11/12/2012 The Lost Souls I will never forget their faces the lovely smile and hug my mother would give me when I came home and the stern pat on the back my dad would give to greet me as well. Most of all I will never forget the feeling of love I had from my family and village. The only way I can explain it was as if I was being tucked into bed with a warm cozy fire burning next to me. Unfortunately I now find myself laying here in my cot shivering and shaking profusely covered in sweat with the images and horrors from just a mere few years ago still lingering in my mind like a pesky fly that keeps hovering around your face. I will never forget when death himself came upon us like a swarm of locusts and ripped the feeling of love and happiness from my arms. These men had the look of determination, hatred, and anger in both their eyes and faces. I hope I will never ever have to see the face of Satan himself again for as long as I shall live. It is roughly an hour and a half drive through hundreds of crop fields that look like a maze when you are trying to navigate through them in order to reach Kitaisa Village. (Bruni) Not even our countries own president has ever stepped foot into our quiet lovely village. (Bruni) I mean, if you blinked you would be through it since most of us live a distance from the main road that leads into the village. (Bruni) It is also quit difficult to reach the once proud village since...

...Trustworthiness is Beautiful to Behold Introduction First impressions are of critical importance when two individuals interact. Within seconds, judgments have been made and opinions formed about each other even though neither person has any previous information regarding the other. Often, these perceptions are the results of past experiences and the information from other sources, formulated based on similarities between the person and these sources of information. For instance, many categorizations and stereotypes are created over a period of years from the information we receive from music, television, families, social media, and our peers. One of the most critical factors involved in this decision-making process, physical appearance, greatly influences how we view other people; individuals perceived as more attractive are assigned more positive characteristics. On the opposite end of the spectrum, unattractive people are greatly associated with more negative attributes such as untrustworthiness and incompetence. As Aronson suggests “since we have categorized a person as good-looking or homely, we tend to attribute other qualities to that person; for example, good looking people are likely to strike us as being warmer, sexier, more exciting, and more delightful than homely people.” (376). This is commonly referred to as the Physical Attractiveness Stereotype or the “beauty is good” stereotype. For the purposes of this paper, the relationship between attractiveness...

...Technology Trendy Communication XCOM/285 April 2014 Week 1 CheckPoint: Technology Trendy Communication The face of business communications is changing very quickly with new technology. The question of using the new technology effectively weighs heavier on the side of not being able to. New devices and new methods of communication being produced at such a fast pace, businesses have a hard time keeping up. Training and retraining employees across the board, not only takes up time, but also takes enormous amounts of capital investment. (Locker & Kienzler, 2008). The older employees may also become less productive when having to retrain on new systems continually. Changing technology too quickly can be detrimental to other areas of business, such as customer service. For example, the customers’ needs being set aside while employees are training is not good for business. When customers call with questions, they like to hear the voice of confidence, but instead get the voice of frustration of new equipment or software an agent is still trying to master. There seems to be a larger number of big companies that have been able to keep up with the new trends, but usually not without consequence somewhere along the line. Accidental security breaches being high on the list of technology problems these companies face. Another problem being information overload. Too much information to manage can be overwhelming for employees (Locker & Kienzler, 2008)...

...Study Case October 28, 2014 1. I do think I could handle the stress that air controllers face every day on the job. I wouldn’t be able to face it right now of course, but if I was trained, why not? They wouldn’t allow just anyone to be able to be an air controller without the proper knowledge and education/training. If you are properly trained for this particular job then you know what you are up against and should have no problem in doing the job. Although I am sure that this job isn’t for everybody and I am not sure it would be for me. It is a lot of pressure and you have a lot of lives that you are responsible for. 2. I think the overall stress that air controllers are faced with everyday is the fact that they have so many people’s lives in their control. One minor setback or something so little, or any decision or mistake can cost a major tragedy. That would be my biggest worry if I were an air controller. 3. I don’t understand what Pete Rogers means by “almost like a mini convention of type A personalities” but I am guessing he means that it is a reunion where they can come together and share ideas. They all perform the same job so they understand each other as opposed to someone who is not an air controller. To me this is a good thing because they can all come together and share their stresses and experiences and give each other support. 4. Yes, there are times I am faced with circumstances that most people would call stressful, although not as stressful...

...This is obviously a face to face conversation because adams is addressing people directly and this is a form of verbal communication because words are used to transform ideas. People are chanting and showing their excitement like they understand each and every word. Adams is using the terms which can be understood by everyone. In other words, he is really acting and behaving like he is from one of them. There are some jargons used in this clip like Pork packers, rump wrappers and bull shippers which are obviously well understood by the people. Also we see colloquialism in this clip because it looks like familiar conversation when Adams uses phrases like you know, we packers have been taking a bad rap for years, Yeah! - I'm proud of my meat! And I know you're proud of your meat! and Whip it, zip it and send it out! From these phrases it looks like Adams is familiar of those people. The tone and volume of Adams’ voice proves that he is very excited and wants to achieve something from this conversation. From the crowd’s reaction, looks like he is succeeded. People in the crowd are active listeners. They are concentrating on the sender and what’s he saying. They are very enthusiastic and energetic which shows that Patch is talking about their interest. They are obviously acknowledging Patch when he says that now is the time for cow! And the crowd begins to chant Eat cow! Eat cow! As far as Hurier model is concerned, people in this clip are hearing and paying attention to...

...the power to pierce ignorance with wisdom and defeat evil. The deity is a protector of Buddhist law and is usually placed at gateways of Buddhist temples. The Art Institute created a perfect setting for the sculpture. It was placed on top of a pedestal under a soft yellow light, which gave it a divine appearance. Complimented with the solemn silence at the time and other Buddhist deities on pedestals nearby, the experience was similar to that of a sacred temple. Shukongojin is composed of shapes and direction of the lines that give the sculpture a menacing appearance. The sculpture has three distinct shapes: the head, right arm, and base. The head’s primary noticeable feature is the hair. The hair has a general angular shape that appears like a cone composed of smaller cones. Also the hair has a wavy style which gives it a flame like image. The heads’ secondary feature is the face. Shukongojin has a human like face except it has a third eye on the forehead. These three eyes have a downward gaze supported with furrowed brows, which gives it, at the very least, an angry demeanor. The last feature of its face is the mouth. The sculpture has a smile like appearance, but its teeth slightly spaced give it a ghoulish look. The right arm is placed near the...

She has sensed a shift in the weather. There is another gust of wind, a buckle of noise in the air, and the tall cypresses sway. She turns and moves uphill towards the house, climbing over a low wall, feeling the first drops of rain on her bare arms. She crosses the loggia and quickly enters the house. In the kitchen she doesn’t pause but goes through it and climbs the stairs which are in darkness and then continues along the long hall, at the end of which is a wedge of light from an open door. She turns into the room which is another garden—this one made up of trees and bowers painted over its walls and ceiling. The man lies on the bed, his body exposed to the breeze, and he turns his head slowly towards her as she enters. Every four days she washes his black body, beginning at the destroyed feet. She wets a washcloth...

Besides a flexible dialog system and speech understanding, an anthropomorphic appearance has the potential to support intuitive usage and understanding of a robot, e.g .. human-like facial expressions and deictic gestures can as well be produced and also understood by the robot. As a consequence of our effort in creating an anthropomorphic appearance and to come close to a human-human...
