...this is the first time I have ever had you as a professor, I figured this would be a good time to introduce myself and discus how I wound up at Clemson. I have lived in the area my entire life, but I grew up a fan of South Carolina., It was always my dream to go to South Carolina and be a Gamecock. I guess life had other plans however and I ended up going to my rival school. High School: I went to Pendleton High School which is only about a fifteen-minute drive from Clemson. Throughout high school I was extremely involved with school activities, being a member of the BETA Club, National Honors Society, and, in particular, soccer and HOSA (Health Occupational Students of America). I was president of HOSA all for three years...

...From a young age, I have always shown an increased interest in science. More specifically, discovery and experimentation. I did not want to sit down in a class and learn of something through secondhand methods, I wanted to experience what was being taught. Sixth grade was the first time I took a designated science class. The class was labeled as an introductory science class, meant to cover most aspects of science, but the teacher focused mainly on biology and earth sciences. My love for biology took root and continued to grow as I had some of the best teachers guiding me. In the middle of my seventh-grade year, my cousin was diagnosed with Otahara Syndrome at just six weeks old and had to have emergency brain surgery before more of his brain...

...sheet with my name on it. At that age, I was awed – how did the computer know my name? How did it learn English? Questions like these have been developed in me since very early on and I have even gotten into trouble for trying to address some of my curiosities - I accidentally deleted the My Computer icon from a school desktop and no one at that time could figure out how to fix it. Nowadays, I follow advancement in technology through online sources like Medium, Quora, and all other tech-news sites. Recently, I was specifically attracted to the introduction of Oculus Rift the brought about numerous possibilities in the world of virtual reality. This kind of innovation inspires me to work towards my dreams. It makes me motivated and keeps me thinking at nights about what can I do to make a positive impact on billions of people through technology....

...inside and ordered their food. Chick-Fil-A on East Kenosha recently opened up a few months ago. When they first opened their doors to the public, they handed every customer that entered in the restraint gift cards for a free breakfast sandwich. That was the first time I have ever seen a fast food restraint do something like that for their customers. Chick-Fil-A is very considerate of their customers. The Chick-Fil-A foundation was founded to serve as the generous arm of Chick-Fil-A, Inc., dedicated to youth and education and community leadership. In 2014, Chick-Fil-A donated a million dollars to twenty five organizations across the nation through the inaugural True Inspiration Awards for their commitment to giving back to their communities (About Chick-Fil-A). Chick-Fil-A is also very committed to their employees so they offer their employees a scholarship opportunity to their employees so that they can further their education if they choose to do so. It known as the Leadership Scholarship Program. No other company in terms of size does as much in the scholarship area as Chick-fil-A (Chick-Fil-A Press Release). The company awarded $1.7 million in scholarships to its restaurant team members in 2013 (Chick-fil-A Press Release). Chick-fil-A, also awards S. Truett Cathy Scholar Awards, which provide additional $1,000 scholarships to the top 25 Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship recipients each year (Chick-Fil-A). ...as it relates to college revenues. Weaver further maintains that college athletes, especially football players, are needed to generate the revenues to build both and support a winning football team, and athletics department. And historically colleges rely on ticket sales, game programs, and advertising revenues, to do so. Additionally, coaches’ salary and facility renovations also are factor in terms of colleges and universities needing to generate revenues as well. But before the former can be brought to fruition colleges must first persuade the most talented athletes to their school. What criteria do colleges and universities utilize when recruiting athletes with regard to talent, academics, finances, and student population? Additionally, what perks are colleges and universities offering these athletes to entice them at a minimum to the said front porch? Let’s start by first exploring how colleges and universities generate revenues. First, warning sign (problem) is that billions in annual revenues generated by colleges, universities, conferences and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) are in large part derived from rights and fees paid by media conglomerates such as ESPN/ABC, CBS, and Fox for a license that affords the networks the right to broadcast live coverage of the sporting events over television, radio, the internet, and other technological platforms, as well as...

A school known for its diversity of class programs, Texas Tech University, home of the Red Raiders, shall grant me the opportunity to obtain my future career. The struggle is hard enough looking for my career, but the requirements to enter are quite hefty too. Not only is there a $75 fee waiver just to register there is also the required grade on two tests (TTU). One is the ACT the other is the SAT and from both of these there is a required grade needed to be made based on class rank. The extraordinary part is that from this point on the requirements, ease down and consists of simple things like official transcripts and a higher GPA than a 3.00 (TTU)....

...During my college life I plan to become a Chemist with a minor in Physics. Recently I have been accepted to New Mexico Tech where I hope to start college there in the fall of this year. As of right now, i'm not to sure as to which classes i'm going to take, but I will talk to my counselors at the college to figure out the best course of action I should take for my career. Unfortunately, I need to discipline myself a little more than I already am in the sense of studying and focusing on my actual work, but with enough practice it will become easy for me. I have been thinking about this alot and more then likely I want to continue my education and get a degree in astrophysics. Chemistry is something I absolutely love to do, but astrophysics is my passion in life. My family has had a big struggle for most of the year when it came to money which made the situation in my family a lot more stressful and has made it hard to pay for things, such as college. My mother for a while has been a stay at home while my father goes works. Recently things have gotten a lot worse due to my Father leaving us. The money that we were getting is now supporting us and my Father, wherever he is, and it wasn't horrible at first but now it's a nightmare....

...Reflection Colby Gordillo ITT Tech GS 1145 Bart Demeter July 5, 2014 “Where I Was” Reflection . A few years ago I graduated from high school, and started working in the factory industry one month after. A few months later I attended college at Grand Rapids Community College. At that time, I did not know I was going to fail and drop out three times at that same college. And, then attend two other colleges. All of this had happened in the past 4 years. The reason as to why I had failed so many times was that I was not ready for school. I felt that I was ready because of just finishing high school, and that I would have that same mentality. Apparently I was wrong about that and it took me a few years to realize that. The first time I attended GRCC; I completed the first four weeks and then I dropped out. The second time I attended GRCC; I had to get off suspension and then I completed about two months, until I dropped out again. After that, I took a year off from school. When a year had passed I tried to return but I was on suspension once again. This time I was suspended from school and financial aid. By that time, I realized that I had dug a hole after my first fall out and it just got bigger. This hole had gotten so big, that I saw no point in attending GRCC anymore. I tried out the University of Phoenix and completed the first quarter with an A and B. I decided I didn’t like the online experience. Less than a month after, I signed up for ITT Tech. I got six weeks in and I...
