Background
Richard Loat, founder of the non-profit organization, Five Hole for Food, begins his successful operation in 2010, in an effort to raise food donations for the Food Banks in Canada. His initial idea of organizing street hockey games on a cross-Canada road trip tour using online social media and volunteers, with the goal of gaining food donations to benefit the Food Banks in various cities along his journey proves to be successful. Much to his surprise, his adventure turns out to be, not only lucrative and rewarding; it becomes an opportunity to raise awareness for the growing cause of people in need. He goes on to his second year, gaining momentum with sponsors, volunteers, support for the games and most of all, food donations which greatly exceeds their expectations. The remarkable reputation of Loat and his talent for continued success in gaining help on a volunteer basis via his internet network, as well as 100% of the donations going directly to the Food Bank, leads them to find ways of perpetuating the organization.
Problem
With the full responsibility of organizing and operating Five Hole for Food, Loat becomes concerned with the fate of his charity and looks for ways to perpetuate the cause without compromising his grassroots basis. He looks at options for future success of the organization where his legacy can continue on a volunteer basis, with the majority of donations going to those in need, along with for ways to keep up with increasing demands for expansion. The core problem for Loat is finding ways to restructure the charity for permanent sustainability, while maintaining his original grassroots foundation involving volunteers, as well as targeting the donations to those in need of help.
Analysis
*External
The necessity of a charitable industry based on food programs is escalating due to the global economic recession. In

The Scientific Method with Lifesavers

...specifically the Lifesaver for this experiment. Food is chewed/dissolved or more simply, broken down into smaller parts before consumed.  Lifesavers are food but are seldom chewed, yet they breakdown into smaller pieces or before ingested.  Lifesavers are dissolved in the mouth over a relatively short period of time.  Why do they dissolve? At what rate do they dissolve and is this rate the same for all people? Lifesavers are made-up of mostly sugar and artificial ingredients.  Regardless, it is likely that higher acidic substances will dissolve the candy faster than lower acidic substances. Materials and Methods Firstly, we as a group, spent time applying our senses to the lifesaver and recorded out thoughts.  It is a relatively light but solid candy, round with whole in its middle.  In my case it was red and smelled fruity and fragrant but unlike real, organic fruit or flowers.  It tasted great and I enjoyed the experience very much.  It took about five minutes to completely dissolve the candy in my mouth. Since saliva is different from depending on persons mouth, it was decided to apply two common substances people consume with some level of regularity using water as the control. We measured the diameter of the candy as a whole, the diameter of inner circle, the candy’s thickness both before and after applying the control and 2 testing solutions, water, vinegar and soda water respectively. It was observed for five minutes then took new measurements.  Additionally...

Snowman Narrative

...Sticking two black button eyes on our snowman, I turned and gave Charles a high-five. "Finished!" I said. "And there's not a finer snowman in the whole neighborhood." But Charles wasn't looking at me. He was staring at the snowman, his face almost as white. "D-d-d-did you s-s-s-see that?" he screamed. *one hour earlier* My brother has been watching some really scary movies and has been getting really scared so I decided to pull a prank on him. I grabbed my money and asked my mom if she could take me to Dollar General to get something. She said she could and took me. I looked in the old Halloween area and found a hand. I bought the fake hand, some red food coloring, some paint and left. When we got back I told my brother I was going to go...

Pest Insect

...stations and sticky traps For Rodents: baits and traps When to Hire a Professional Why You Need This Guide Too many New Yorkers live in homes or buildings that have cockroaches, mice, or rats. Nobody wants to live with pests! Insects and rodents can contaminate food, damage homes, and make allergies and asthma worse. Chemicals people use to get rid of pests also cause problems. Pesticides can cling to carpets, furniture, and other surfaces, and many are dangerous to people and pets. The Poison Control Center takes about 1,000 reports of accidental pesticide poisonings or exposures every year – half of them to children under five. What Are People Doing Wrong? Many tenants, landlords, and pest control professionals make the same mistake: they turn to pesticides first. But chemicals kill only a small number of pests. Pests can become resistant, so the poison no longer kills them and their offspring. Pesticides – chemicals that kill pests – are often unnecessary. When they are needed, only safer products should be used. Why This Guide Works Good pest control gets to the root of the problem. To get rid of pests and keep them from coming back, you have to deprive them of everything they need to survive: food, water, shelter, and ways to get around. This guide explains how to clean up, seal off trouble spots, and pest-proof your home in 3 easy-to-understand steps. To get the most from this guide: • Don’t try to do everything at once. It can take a few weeks to get rid of...

The crown is the top part of the tooth, the part that people normally see, the function of the tooth is determined by the shape of the crown. The different teeth that are in the mouth are the incisors, canines, premolars, and molars. What incisors are sharp, chisel-shaped, the incisors are the front four teeth and the front bottom teeth, the incisors are used to cut the food. The canines (also known as cuspids), the canines are shaped like points (cusps) and used to tear up the food. The premolars (also known as bicuspids) are 2 pointed cusps, the premolars are used for crushing and tearing. Finally the molars are made up of several cusps and are used for grinding. Staining works when something in the food and or drink goes and stains the tooth for example citrus/acidic foods damage the enamel and stains the dentin with a yellowish color, soda has a darkish color so when soda is put in the mouth the enamel absorbs the dark color, sweets normally have dye in them so if they can stain the tongue the candies can stain the teeth, mouthwash have what’s called chlorhexidine (a type of disinfectant) and cetylpyridinium chloride (a type of compound which is used the help kill bacteria) which can also stain teeth, aging will cause discoloration the older the more the enamel decays and the more the yellowish color of the...

...purely conjecture. With that stated, one definition of a harem is a sphere of women. The painter chose to use circular lines in almost every point in this painting. He created circles within circles, with the round bodies and rounded faces, and rounded trim on the alcoves and furnishings. All of the bodies are very curvy, voluptuous, sensual, and soft. Most of the concubines have rounded eyes, with very curved faces and bodies. Even the breasts and nipples are circles within circles, as are the stomachs and navels. The entire room seems to be a circle and the view that we have is as though through a key hole or hole in the wall. All of the five senses are represented in this piece, touch, smell, sight, taste and sound. They are represented so that each sense is saturated and the power of the sultan is quite obvious. There is truly a celebration of all five senses in this painting. Touch seems to be the most obvious. Many of the women are touching in some fashion, from merely lying next to each other, to fondling of another woman’s breast. The touching seems to be quite accepted and relaxed, indicating there are no inhibitions connected to touching. There is touching in regards to the textiles and clothing. Most, if not all, of the women are sitting on soft pillows and red drapery. The woman in the foreground is lounging on a decorative pillow and several women are lying down on these soft, vibrant, red draperies. The sense of smell is portrayed as strong...

Layout of the 18th century plantation West Indian sugar estates varied in size from a few hundred to several thousand acres, according to soil, climatic and physical geographical conditions. An average estate measured about five hundred acres and was laid out according to an almost regular pattern. THE estate land consisted of a number of clearly defined parts. In the hey-day of plantation agriculture, the greater part of the estate was devoted to sugar-cane cultivation. This portion was usually the best land since the planter's aim was maximum profit which could into sections or fields in order to facilitate land use, that is, one part could be planted while another was reaped. A part of the estate was also used as provision grounds for the production of such food as root-crops and vegetables to feed the large numbers of estates slaves. Vinegar History

...Vinegar How Products Are Made | 2002 | Copyright Vinegar Background Vinegar is an alcoholic liquid that has been allowed to sour. It is primarily used to flavor and preserve foods and as an ingredient in salad dressings and marinades. Vinegar is also used as a cleaning agent. The word is from the French vin(wine) and aigre (sour). History The use of vinegar to flavor food is centuries old. It has also been used as a medicine, a corrosive agent, and as a preservative. In the Middle Ages, alchemists poured vinegar onto lead in order to create lead acetate. Called "sugar of lead," it was added to sour cider until it became clear that ingesting the sweetened cider proved deadly. By the Renaissance era, vinegar-making was a lucrative business in France. Flavored with pepper, clovers, roses, fennel, and raspberries, the country was producing close to 150 scented and flavored vinegars. Production of vinegar was also burgeoning in Great Britain. It became so profitable that a 1673 Act of Parliament established a tax on so-called vinegar-beer. In the early days of the United States, the production of cider vinegar was a cornerstone of farm and domestic economy, bringing three times the price of traditional hard cider. The transformation of wine or fruit juice to vinegar is a chemical process in which ethyl alcohol undergoes partial oxidation that results in the formation of acetaldehyde. In the third stage, the acetaldehyde is converted into acetic acid. The chemical reaction is...
