Active Braking uses sensors to monitor the road ahead. When it detects a possible collision at high speed it sends you a warning message on the instrument panel. If you don t react, the system applies the brakes automatically. At lower speeds, when stopping distances are typically shorter, Active City Stop is used to monitor the road ahead. If the system detects a potential collision the brakes are applied automatically to help avoid or minimise an impact.

Active Park Assist helps you nd a space.
Active Park Assist can steer you into parallel or perpendicular parking spaces just 20% longer or wider than the car. Simply push a button and the sensors of this innovative system locate a suitable space as you drive past. Then it automatically steers you in, while all you do is operate the accelerator, brake and gears (following on-screen instructions and audible signals).

16

And g

t out. ge nd A n. ti e

Park-Out Assist works like Active Park Assist in reverse, helping you manoeuvre out of a parallel space. The system steers while you keep control of accelerator, brake and gears. When the system has cleared the space, it gives you a Take control of steering message through the cluster.

17

Find extra pleasure in the small details.

Driver Alert
Designed to inform you if the system detects driving behaviour that indicates a drop in alertness levels. Initially, a warning icon is displayed in the instrument cluster, asking you to take a rest. If driving alertness further declines, the message is repeated and combined with a chime.

Rear-view camera
Select reverse gear and the rear-view camera comes on automatically in the navigation display, allowing you to see objects behind your car. Special guidance graphics indicate the width and centre line of the car, based on the steering angle, for safer and easier manoeuvring.

Lane Keeping Alert and Lane Keeping Aid
Lane Keeping Alert is designed to recognise when you approach the road markings without using the indicator, and alerts you with vibrations through the steering wheel. Lane Keeping Aid is designed to apply steering torque back towards the lane you were in to help you recognise that corrective action is required.
Operates at speeds over 40 mph on multi-lane roads with clearly visible lane markings.

MyKey®
This innovative feature lets you tailor and limit car settings like top speed and audio volume to suit individual users.

Heated steering wheel
Keeps your hands warm and exible on even the coldest of days.

LED daytime running lights
Offers increased visibility to other road users. They are also more energy ef cient than dipped headlights due to the latest LED technology.

Adaptive Cruise Control
Combines cruise control and distance control. Simply enter the desired speed and distance from the vehicle in front, and Adaptive Cruise Control will automatically maintain the set distance if traf c conditions do not allow travel at the desired cruising speed.

Traf c Sign Recognition
Designed to automatically read standard format road-speed signs and display the last posted speed limit in the driver s instrument cluster. Also available with optional Satellite Navigation for enhanced traf c sign recognition. (See page 45 for details.)

Paddle gearshift
Available on automatics, a paddle tted to each side of the steering column allows you to select gears with a ick of your ngers.

Traf c Sign Recognition The front camera is designed to automatically read standard format road-speed and traf c signs, and display them in the instrument cluster. It acts as a reminder of current road restrictions, and is automatically updated when a new limit comes into view. The signs can be either alongside the road as permanent or temporary signs or above it as overhead gantries. If there are two speed limits in force such as dry and wet weather limits these are both displayed in the instrument cluster.

Satellite Navigation The instrument cluster displays the current speed and warning sign. Traf c Sign Recognition is enhanced in the new Focus by using a combination of the front camera and the optional Satellite Navigation database. The front camera system is always required; when the customer chooses optional Sat Nav this functionality is added to the system. It allows the Traf c Sign Recognition System to not only identify construction zones and variable speed signs (such as those found on motorways), but also detect urban areas and show standard urban speeds. Roads through areas without adequate signage can also be identi ed by the Sat Nav and the appropriate speed is shown in cluster.

The new Focus uses sensors to monitor the road all around you.
1. Adaptive Cruise Control Helps maintain a preset gap between your Ford Focus and the vehicle ahead. If the vehicle in front slows down, the system decelerates. When the gap widens, your Ford Focus returns to the desired speed. 2. Active City Stop Designed to sense potential low-speed collisions and apply the brakes if you don t react in time. 3. Pre-Collision Assist Active at all speeds, Pre-Collision Assist is designed to help you when it detects an imminent impact with a vehicle ahead. First it gives you a visual and audible warning, then, if required, applies the brakes. 4. Blind Spot Information System As another vehicle - car, van or lorry - enters your blind spot, the system alerts you with a discreet warning light built into the driver s and passenger s door mirrors. 5. Cross Traf c Alert As you pull out from a perpendicular space, Cross Traf c Alert scans left and right. If a vehicle or other hazard is detected, a visual and audible alert gives a warning. 6. Lane Keeping Alert and Lane Keeping Aid Designed to recognise when you approach lane markings without using the indicator, Lane Keeping Alert warns you with vibrations through the steering wheel. If the system detects that an unintentional lane change is likely to occur, Lane Keeping Aid is designed to apply a steering torque back towards the lane you were in. 7. Rear-view camera Select reverse gear and the rear-view camera comes on automatically in the navigation display, allowing you to see objects behind your car. For safer and easier manoeuvring, special guidance graphics indicate the width and centre line of the car.

Fuel, performance and emissions
The fuel economy gures quoted in the table below are achieved by following strict EU governed test procedures and are speci cally designed to enable customers to compare vehicles from all manufacturers on a like-for-like basis. Fuel consumption is directly affected by the length of the journey; number of passengers and amount of luggage carried; individual driving style; road and traf c conditions; weather conditions; vehicle age, mileage, condition and standard of maintenance; use of vehicle features such as air conditioning; and any modi cations to the vehicle such as the addition of a roof rack. Your fuel economy will vary based on these and other factors and, for these reasons, many drivers may not achieve the EU fuel economy gures (below) in day-to-day driving, although the vehicle is technically capable of doing so. *In 4th gear. Ford test gures. The declared Fuel Consumptions and CO2 emissions are measured according to the technical requirements and speci cations of the European Regulations (EC) 715/2007 and (EC) 692/2008 as last amended. Fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are speci ed for a vehicle variant and not for a single car. The applied standard test procedure enables comparisons between different vehicle types and different manufacturers. In addition to the fuel ef ciency of a car, driving behaviour as well as other non-technical factors play a role in determining a car's fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. CO2 is the main greenhouse gas responsible for global warming. A guide on fuel economy and CO2 emissions which contain data for all new passenger car models is available at any point of sale free of charge or can be downloaded from http://carfueldata.dft.gov.uk/. DPF = diesel particulate lter.

Same power with more fuel ef ciency and lower emissions
New 1.5-litre diesel engine Available from Spring 2015, the new ECOnetic TDCi diesel engine will provide an exceptional balance of power and economy.

10% reduction in fuel consumption
When your Ford Focus is idling at a standstill, Auto-Start-Stop automatically shuts down the engine to save fuel. When you want to drive off, the engine immediately restarts. The system can reduce fuel consumption by up to 5% in mixed driving conditions and 10% in an urban environment.

Ford Focus

...Ford Focus: Environmental Analysis Exercise Introduction Henry Ford and 11 other associates established Ford Motor Company in 1903. Manufacture and distribution of their automobiles take place in 200 markets across six continents. The 2010 Ford Annual Report indicated that “throughout 2010 Ford continued market share growth in the car sector with high quality, fuel-efficient offerings bringing bold designs, multiple convenience technologies, comprehensive safety features and engaging driving dynamics” (pg. 7). In 2010, Ford had a net income of $6.6 billion, which was a $3.8 billion increase from the prior year (Ford Annual Report, 3). The 2000 model year was the first for the entry-level sedan, Ford Focus. “Focus represents the company’s highest-volume offering and production in three continents to eventually be sold in 122 markets around the world” (Ford Motor Annual Report, 2010, p. 1). Ford has directed marketing efforts for the Focus to 18- to 29-year-olds that are willing to spend roughly $13,000 to $16,000 on a vehicle. According to Edmunds.com “its affordable price, expressive styling and availability in multiple body styles have all contributed to making this one of Ford's most popular cars worldwide” (Ford Focus Review, 2011). The 2012 Focus has an MSRP of $16,500 for its 2-liter, 4-cylinder Sedan model. The Focus also comes in coupe and hatchback models. Ford Focus Group Report

...Introduction For our focus group, we were able to find 7 individuals who were willing to participate and share their thoughts on the automobile industry. We had a diverse group, with participants from China and India, as well as a couple Canadians. This gave us lots of helpful data from people who were brought up in different settings and have different experiences with vehicles. We found our focus group to be very informative and it provided significant results and findings that we can use in our report. Some of the responses we were given to questions and discussions were predictable and as we expected, but others shed a new light on certain issues within our research that we think will prove to be extremely helpful. Moderator’s Guide Prior to our meeting, we needed to come up with a plan for our moderator as a group. We stressed the importance of making sure the discussion was natural and free flowing so we could gain as much knowledge as possible, but at the same time there were specific things we needed to ask our subjects to allow us to further our research. To identify the information that was necessary to gather, we first needed to establish what we already knew about our topic from our secondary research. After doing this, we devised a set of questions that would help guide our discussion and give us the results we were looking for. These questions were designed to be open-ended and general so our moderator would be able to steer the discussion, and at the...

Ethics and Credibility in Business Communications

...Ethics and Credibility in Business Communications Kristen Barnes COM/295 March 27, 2016 Randi Barnes-Plante Ethics and Credibility in Business Communications Social Media can be an effective form of communication for business to consumer relationships. Not only does it allow the business to keep everyone up to date on the latest developments within the company, but it also allows the consumer to reach out to the business without having to make a phone call. We all lead busy lives, and being placed on hold for thirty minutes, just to have a simple question answered, can be somewhat of an inconvenience. With social media, that inconvenience is replaced with a few clicks of a button. After visiting Toyota’s Facebook page, the overall presence was mixed, for me. The company made multiple posts throughout the day; some were just for fun, and some were factual. After reading some of the replies, from consumers, those were mixed, as well. Some posts showed pictures of old Toyota’s, and how they’ve always been loyal customers. Others, were full of complaints. I believe that with any company, this is going to happen; but it’s up to the company to communicate and try to make it right. I noticed that Toyota was fairly prompt in replying to the negative comments, and would refer them to the customer service number. While I’m not certain what happened from there, they at least made the effort to let the customer know that their complaint was not something to take lightly. I...

...FORD MOTOR COMPANY: STRENGTHENING THE DEAL NETWORK Stefanie DiBella Professor Zeno MBAD 640 1/21/13 Introduction: In March 2011 David Kelleher and his team at Ford Motor Company came together to face the challenges that the Ford brand and their brand counterparts were facing: low marketability, competition of imports, high gas prices and of course an ever changing consumer market. “The Way Forward” and “One Ford Mission” was adopted to turn their focus to rethink how to target consumers, consolidate dealers and reposition the Lincoln brand. Analysis: 1)Chapter 7 discusses differences between the business market and the consumer market. Identify two differences that have a significant impact to the automobile industry and supply chain structure. Explain your answer using information from the chapter and the case. Because Ford Motor Company has developed a vast array of vehicles that can target a wide audience, Ford Motor Company faces the issue of understanding these two very different target markets: the business market and the consumer market. The two differences that can have a significant impact on the automobile industry and its supply chain structure; is the number of buyers in both markets, and fluctuating demand. Business markets make up a fewer percentage of the total number of sales for Ford vehicles however, the business market purchases vehicles with higher dollar amounts then consumer markets. Ford Case Study

...Case - “Ford Motor Company” Fred Baylor Principles of Management - BUS 302 Professor Khaki Weber October 31, 2010 The case creates four options to choose from. Discuss at least three criteria the company should use to decide which of the four listed options is best and the reasons why each criterion should be used. Ford is a household name and has been around for over 100 years. Their slogan, “Built Ford Tough”, is engraved in the hearts of a lot or people, both employees and dedicated customers. In order for things to start to look up for Ford, they must develop a project plan that will work, but make the plan flexible enough to adapt if market conditions change. A solid project plan should include making certain that they are compliant with the United Auto Workers (UAW), so that jobs, benefits and retirement is impacted and falls under the guidelines that are in place. It will be impossible to make changes and this area not be impacted. The plan should include selling all or some of the products from their luxury car line, maybe not all at one time, but a gradual dissemination. The demand for luxury cars these days have declined and consumers are not sure if they have the value that they have had in the past. Lastly the plan should include extending their presences in the international market where they have been successful. Europe, South America, and China have been very receptive to the Ford vehicles...

The Ford Motor Company

...Ford Motor Company Strayer University BUS 302 Professor Doreen Rainey October 31, 2010 Ford Motor Company located in Dearborn, Michigan has an alarming problem. Ford Motor has lost money in its North American sector of operation in the past years, despite its increase of models. In an attempt to attain a larger portion of the car market Ford Motor acquired some luxury models. Ford Motor moved some what away from Mr. Ford’s vision to produce cars affordable for the masses when acquiring luxury models. In order to reduce loses that are being acquired each year Ford must come up with a solution. There are four options that must be viewed to reduce losses. First is the reduction of older plants. Second produce only practical small cars. Third focus on the international market where Ford has been very successful and reduces it present in North America. Fourth dump the Premium Automotive Group (week 4, nd). Ford should use the S.M.A.R.T. guidelines, Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Timely (Management, 2011, p.79). Let’s take a look at the second option and view it with the S.M.A.R.T. guidelines. Ford specific goal using this option would be producing practical small cars to reduce the revenue lost. The American people are becoming more conscience of the rising gas price environment. SUVs and large car increase the usage of gas causing an increase in out of the pocket expense for personal vehicle. It is a proven fact that SUVs and large car use...

Supply Chain

...History Since the Ford Motor Company’s incorporation by Henry Ford in 1903, its strategic focus has remained on automobile design and manufacturing. Up until 1970, competition was from the two other manufacturers making up the Big Three Automakers; General Motors and Chrysler. However, starting in the 1970’s, foreign competition, mostly from Toyota and Honda, eventually lead to overcapacity within the industry. As more and more developing and industrial nations encouraged development into the automobile industry, overcapacity in the automobile markets reached an estimated 20 million vehicles. In 1995, in an effort to reduce cost and increase efficiency, Ford developed a restructuring plan called Ford 2000 that was to focus on globalizing corporate organizations and taking advantage of the economies of scale in purchasing and manufacturing by consolidating the North America, European, and international automobile operations. Ford 2000 also called for a complete reengineering of several key company processes including Order to Delivery (OTD) and Ford Production System (FPS). One of the primary strategic goals of Ford 2000 was to decrease OTD from 60+ days to less than 15. To help overcome information constraints in Ford’s new global approach, they launched a company-wide Intranet in mid-1996. In addition, Ford further expanded upon that system to include business-to-business (B2B) capacity by January 1997 which also comprised the Automotive Network Exchange (ANX)...
