...explore the freshman dorm at Armstrong, Windward Commons. Windward is split into two different sides, east and west. The reason for the observations is to see what side most people rather stay and visit. I decided to do this because many freshman claim that they are more social in the dorm than outside of it. Windward Commons is a beautifully designed building that houses around a thousand people. The co-ed dorm is for freshman only. The fact that it is co-ed may turn the heads of many parents. According to Sarah, “My parents didn’t like the fact that my next door neighbors on both sides are males. They thought the eastside was for males while the west side was for females until move in day. They claimed that if they didn’t already pay for me to live on campus then I wouldn’t because they are totally against co-ed dorms” (Sarah). After my interview with Sarah I decided to look more closely at the east and the west sides to determine which sides have the most co-ed floors. I have come to the conclusion that the floors on the west side are more co-ed than those on the east side. This was a very interesting observation so I decided to take it further and I asked the RA’s, resident assistant, which side causes the most trouble. Kenny claims, “The west...

...disagree. In my view, people want to learn and have more fun when you visit museums in a new place. First, the museums can learn more about different culture. For example, when I went to trip to Sweden with my friend, I went to 15 museums and palaces suggesting by my friend idea. He wanted show me how they have nice palaces and histories in his place, Visiting many museums made me very impressed as the county and liked more about Sweden. After go back to my country, Japan. I felt like I know much more about Sweden, not only eating or buying cloths but also learn about historical things about his country. As you can see, people visit museums is to learn about the new place. Second, we can have more fun visiting museums. For instance, when I visited in Italy with my friend, we really had no idea where to go because it is new place. so we bought a guide book and we could see many deferent kind of museums we would go. so we decided to go to the museums as much as we have can. our time was very wise and nice, visiting museums. This made us keeping busy and not have to worry about what should we do for new place. Also they made us more fun in such a new place. This experience taught me that it is good to visit museums when I visit in a new place so I can have more fun. In sum, people visit museum is not only spent great time with new place which doesn't have to worry about what we should do but also we can have more fun to see painting or photos in museums. That's why we should...

...out there that people are trying to break but some of them people don’t even relies they are using. If I said I’m a Christion most of the people that hear this say to me “Oh so you’re a Jesus girl”. What does that even mean? Yes, I love Jesus but why does that put me in a box with everyone else that does. There are all types of people that love Jesus but everyone just thinks we are all the same. I’m going to break some stereotypes about us “Jesus Girls” so listen up and open your mind. 1. We are "goodie-goodies" Yes, we are trying to be a good person. Who isn’t? But it doesn’t mean we don’t mess up we are still human. We still have our bad days just like you. We just try not to have so many but we acknowledge that they are going to happen. The only difference is when we are in our dark place and having a bad day we lean on our God to lift us up. We trust that he will and for that we are grateful. 2....

...Who has good qualities affect to you? With me, I have met many people have good qualities, but my father’s good qualities affect to me so much. My father is not the most perfect in the world but the way he lives, and the way he keep in touch with other people teach me a lot. The best his qualities are caring, helpful and fun. First, he is a caring person. This his quality makes people around him so amazing because in my country, most of the men don’t like that. They just go out for work and bring money back. My father work too, but he also take care of his family very well. When I was young, my mother was busy therefore my father fed me up, took a shower, and washed clothes for me. Sometimes, he also sang a song to make me sleep. When I grew up, he gave me a drive to go to school. He also helps my mother cook dinner every night, and he also teaches me to study Math. For specific, the first day I came here, I called for my mother, my voice was change because I cried too much, but lie her that I was sick. However, when I talked with my father, he realized that, he told me to be stronger, he can share everything with me, and I should stop to share. Why he can know that? I also asked this question with him when I was young. He told me because he is a Buddha therefore he can know all things about me, but now I know the real reason. That reason is because he always follows me, take care me, and spend his time to look at me so he can realize all my changes. Moreover...

...is dishonest, yet confident, as well as caring. The first reason why June is dishonest is because she doesn’t tell anyone about how the other June bullies her, not even her mother. June has always been taught to follow her mother’s rules to go to her when there is a problem. “I walk away, run away, come on home as fast as my feet will take me,” June recites. Her mother replies “Yes. You come to me. You just bring me your trouble, because I’m here on this earth to love you and take care of you”. June may tell her mother “Yes, I will go to you when I’m in trouble”, but she never told her mother about the other June. After class June’s mother would notice bruises on her arms (from the other June) but she quickly made up a short story how she got them. At swimming practice the other June shoved her into the pool. The swimming teacher got upset because no one was allowed in the water yet. June never said that it wasn’t her fault but she was pushed into the pool. June is also confident enough to stand up to the other June. Even though she is being teased she will not let the other June walk all over her. In the locker room the other June made fun of...

...Dajan Thomas Don’t get me started on … School Ugly uniform, rubbish food and annoying teachers that will sum up my school, what can I say about school we start to early, long day and hours of homework to do after. Uniform What can I say about uniform, my school uniform is dull, boring and ugly! To be honest I don’t mind school uniform because if we didn’t have an uniform then you’ll run out of clothes to wear and you’ll have to wear the same thing on some days, but the uniform form could look better and be more comfortable, I have a problem that you have to wear a clip on tie now, I think the clip on ties are much more worse than the usual the tie, because they are easier to break, also easier to loose, I also don’t like that you always have to have your top button done up all time, especially in the summer when it’s all hot and you can hardly breathe , also I don’t understand what is the problem with what colour coat, hat or scarf you have to wear, it’s not like were wearing it in class so I don’t see the problem. I don’t like the fact that you have to wear a specific shoes, I understand the shoes have to match the uniform but why can’t it be any design but the colour have to match, they want us to wear ugly shoes with no brand on it. The main thing I hate about are uniform is the school bags their heavy big and ugly! Personally I have no clue why we have them and why they were made, I don’t see any harm in us having your own school bag plus we have to pay for them ourselves...

...is the sequential learning style. Sequential learners learn new material in steps, one after the other. For me it is easier to grip a problem by breaking it down into steps, doing one thing that leads to another to solve the entire thing. Global is the opposite of sequential meaning they tend to learn things in big jumps rather than one thing after another. Steps seem to make things easier on me than just jumping around material. Breaking things down is an effective way of familiarizing yourself with a...

...always there asking if I could help in anyway, and computers and technology within the last five years or so sense eighth grade when I had my first computer class I have found that I have a talent for working on, creating, or operating computers and most technology in general, it is very easy and I find it really fun, and truthfully it is extremely fun! Now there is a reason why I set it up this way, we have been over the wants, and the goals, now my ambitions which derive from my goals and wants. The end result of all of this, my ambitions, are to end up with a successful job in either of fields that I plan to major in, let god take me to where I need to be, my “calling” so to say and to help as many people as I can either through the power of medicine or through technological advances that may save someone’s life, and of coarse buy a home and start a family but that’s the overall basic thing that nearly everyone wants. We have come to the most important part of who I am, and why I have these goals and such, my past, and unlike a lot of other students, I have not had an average life such as others may have had. Lets start all the way at my beginning and go through and sum everything up from there, I was born in Clackamas Oregon and lived there till I was about one and a half when my mother and father had a falling out and...

Vytautas Didysis gimnasium Form IIIc Laurita Drankinaitė Book report John Grogan Marley & Me John Grogan He was born in the Motor City, Detroit, Michigan, on March 20, 1957. He got into writing by default because He was so bad at everything else. Algebra, geometry, French, chemistry, physics -- they all escaped me. But writing, now there was a subject he could have some fun with. By eighth grade He was penning parodies of the nuns just for fun, and in high school, besides writing for the school newspaper, He started an underground tabloid, which earned me a celebrated trip to the principal's office. From there it was on to Central Michigan University, where He earned the princely sum of twenty-five cents per column inch writing for the campus newspaper while slugging away at a double major in journalism and English. He’s first full-time writing job came immediately upon graduation in 1979 when He was hired as a police reporter for the small and laughably lackluster Herald-Palladium in the Michigan harbor town of St. Joseph. He rode all night with cops, photographed murder victims, picked my way through smoldering house fires and sat over coffee with grieving parents. He also summoned the courage to ask out a willowy and tart-tongued reporter on the staff whose name was Jenny and who eventually would become my soul...

...outside of United States embassy in Turkey. He couldn’t come in because he was over twenty-one, so he was aged out from the family visa that we were supposed to get all together. Everything went well, and after the interview was done we went out to see where my brother is. He was crying outside! He always had a dream of coming to United States, and for that reason that he got aged out, he had to wait for eight more year for his dream to come true. I assume that my mom had the worst day of her life, that she can come to United States, but her son can’t, and has to wait for eight more years for his dream to come true. Days passed. We got our green card, but my brother didn’t. Finally after three years we moved here, but without him. Although me and my parents were all sad that the family is falling apart, but we were happy to. To sum everything up, there are not many days dedicated to Latinos and they do not get enough credit. ...Seventh grade was a mix of emotions and experiences. I suppose that is what most typical seventh graders would say. Many days were stressful, many days were fun, and many days were full of learning experiences . Before seventh grade even started, I was pretty stressed out. To be honest, my thoughts were invaded by my older brother Collin who said that the seventh grade would be the worst year of my academic life. Thankfully, it was not all that bad, I survived, and actually had some great experiences and grew intellectually. The only subject I struggled in was English. This was because I started as an atrocious writer. I set a couple of goals at the beginning of my seventh grade year, one of which was to get on the honor roll and the other was to become a better writer. Both goals were achieved. Seventh grade has ended up being so much more than I expected. One of my favorite classes in seventh grade was Academics in Action. In this class we were given some fun assignments like the movie poster assignment and a movie script group project. In this class, Mr. Beard told us about the time that his projector caught fire and it was one of the funniest stories I had ever heard from a teacher. Two other classes that I have truly enjoyed this year are Social Studies and Art. I remember when in the production of our greek drama, my group members and I ran...

...People and their personalities are sums of all of the experiences they have had in their lifetime. I am who I am because of all the people I have met, the situations and circumstances I have been exposed to, and the activities that I have engaged in. In What Is Literacy written by James Gee, he discusses that individuals are simply meeting points of multiple, and sometimes conflicting historical and social discourses. This statement really hits home with me, especially the word conflicting. I am an Egyptian-American who was raised in a very cultural and traditional family, but went to school and made friends in a community that felt almost entirely different. My friends never understand why I go to church with my family three times a week,...
