...[Albright]/English 120 Genre Awareness Project Assignment Important Dates: TH 1/29:Genre Awareness Project Full First Draft due via email to [Instructor] before class, and bring one clean, typed and stapled copy of your complete project to class for peer review/reading workshop. T 2/3: Genre Awareness Project Pencil Grade due at the beginning of class. This should be a clean, typed and stapled copy of your complete project. T 4/14: Final Portfolio due. Of the first three major writing projects, you must revise at least one but you may choose up to two to revise for a new grade (i.e., the new grade will “erase” the previous pencil grade). Barring any late or other penalties, you have the chance to improve the grade on this project, if you choose to revise it for the portfolio. The Assignment and Rationale: For this project, you are required to find three legitimate, same-genre movie posters from the last decade and write a report revealing your genre awareness findings and conclusions about both the stability and flexibility of the movie genre represented in these three posters. You may choose the movie genre, and you may find that you’re working with a multi-hyphenated genre (e.g., thriller-crime-drama). This is fine, as long as you can find three movie posters that represent this particular genre. However, I advise you to not go too obscure in your choices, as this might limit or make difficult your selection, and I also request you stay away from...

...Genre Awareness Report Forrest Leitch Abstract In order to better understand how genres are interpreted, I chose three movie posters from the same genre to analyze. I observed the posters for similarities that lend themselves to characteristics of the genre. Multiple aspects of the poster were taken into consideration, such as title font, images, layout, and coloring. I concluded that all three posters shared similar characteristics, through which the genre of their movie can be deduced. Introduction In the world of cinema, genres are very important. Audience, film content, and style are just a few determining factors in which genre a movie fits into. Movie posters are a quick way to convey the genre to consumers without having to actually see the movie. Not all movies fit perfectly into just one genre, however, and genres don’t have rigid structures that the movies within them must comply with. Children’s-Adventure movies, for example, are usually animated films that have a plot based on some type of journey or adventure that is taken on by the main characters (Dirks, 1). There is almost always some great obstacle or challenge that the main character(s) must overcome, and usually good trumps evil. These films generally contain light humor, and teach some sort of life-lesson, or have a recurrent morale to the story. Methodology I analyzed three movie posters from the Children’s-Adventure genre to explore the similarities and differences movie posters from the same...

...Tanner Otto Professor Lee Gullickson English 120 13 September 2013 Genre Awareness Abstract To find out what characteristics define an action movie and whether or not they hold true for all action movies, I decided to do some research using the internet. After looking at multiple movie posters I noted the similar characteristics between them all. When confronted with the similarities I further analyzed the posters and tried to determine what the reasoning behind the similarities was. Finally, I deciphered the reason behind them and made a decision on whether or not certain characteristics are present in all action movies. Introduction Action movies have been around since movies were first created. The visual effects and the actors have changed, but the feel is the same. When describing an action movie the average person thinks of guns, cars, explosions, violence and big action-star names such as Jason Statham. These are stereotypes of the action movie genre. These same stereotypical aspects, among others, are showcased in the posters. My aim for this report is to look at different movie posters of the same genre and look for common themes and elements between them and decipher the meanings and purpose. Methodology To find examples of movie posters I began my research by using google to search for images of known action movies. The first search was for the Expendables 2 poster. When looking at the results I saw that one poster was more frequent than the others and...

...is to help professional socialization by instilling an understanding of the relevant ethical principles and standards to be a significant component in providing therapeutic rapports. The primary reasons for clinical supervisions are to ensure quality care and provide professional development in a systematic and planned manner. In todays’ society, clinical supervisions require a foundation in the understanding of the ethical and legal aspects of the supervisory relationship. There are many ethical and legal issues that can affect the supervisory relationship. All supervisors consistently approach all aspects of clinical supervision from an ethical and legal viewpoint. With more time and attention devoted to these important topics, awareness of the ethical and legal aspects can be demonstrated as they are put into practice. The role of a supervisor is to prevent harm from occurring to clients. Supervisors are in charged of reviewing and monitoring the quality of services and the key focus should be to insure that clients’ needs are being met. A primary focus of supervision is to be vigilant and aware of issues that could result in clients receiving inadequate service or being harmed by the therapeutic process. A supervisor must do everything within their power to insure that issues or behaviors of other counselors are not harming clients. New professionals need to develop an understanding of what it meant to be a professional, and this is accomplished by pairing them with...

...pass an ordinance to raise fines for littering across our town. In continuing to unite the community of Burleson, keeping this city beautiful plays a major part. Littering is just one way in which our town becomes less unified, so I would fight to stop this disrespect of our city. I would also try to organize more money into a budget for making our city more beautiful. This budget would cover more landscaping and maintenance projects across the community. Another thing I would do as mayor would be to set aside more money in our budget to go towards our city’s drug awareness program. It is sad heart-breaking and devastating to see so many of our promising teenagers and young adults turning to drugs, alcohol, and substance abuse. In strengthening this program, more and more teenagers could become aware of their reckless behavior and the affects that come with the decisions they make. By bringing about this awareness in our youth we can ultimately create a generation of, honest, engaged, and active members of our community. All of these ideas factor into uniting our town...

...The economy today is much more global than it was just a few decades ago and everyday there are more and more transactions of goods and services between different countries. Each country has their own advantages and disadvantages and because of this trading between countries is mutually beneficial. Having never left the southeast United States, I would definitely benefit from this grant so that I could see the world and give myself a better understanding of how the future of business will be like. With so many countries being involved with each other exchanging goods and services, it is essential to understand how these relationships work and what makes these transactions run as smoothly as they do. With any international business you are involved with people that have different cultures and beliefs than your own. Observing and seeing these differences first hand can do nothing but help the way that one communicates with people from other countries that you may be involved with. Studying abroad will not only improve communication skills with people from other countries but it can also change the way that you view your own thoughts and beliefs by being aware of how other people in the world live. Being surrounded by people your entire life that have similar ideas and beliefs as your own, can shelter you from opposing views. Being able to witness first hand the way others live will allow me to have a better understanding of different cultures and how to best live in the growing...

...Problem: Aqualisa creates a new breakthrough shower- the Quartz. The product has significant improvements when compared with the other existing products on the market, such as: * Efficient and reliable water pressure and temperature * One touch control on the wall * Light signaling the right temperature is achieved etc * Installation of the Quartz was about half a day (vs. 2 days for other showers) Survey shows that consumers and plumbers loved the product. However, initial sales are low, mainly due to low consumer awareness and plumbers’ reluctance to new products. Where does the problem lie in the funnel? Consumers are uninformed about showers, with little understanding of the products options. Thus, plumbers have a greater influence when selecting the brand, as only in 27% of the times consumers select type and brand of the shower, otherwise plumbers influence on the purchase. Lack of knowledge leads to lack of brand awareness. Options: 1. Targeting consumers directly: -Expensive to have a proper ad campaign (costs 3 to 4 M Euro) - The consumers decide only 27% of the time (ex 4) +Consumers could become more brand aware +Easier to reach consumers than plumbers 2. Targeting Do-It- Yourselfers -Lower-end part of the market thus will be price conscious, have to lower prices -The brand will be perceived as a lower quality brand, due to the new niche market +Could “push” the product through partnership (B&Q) thus have lower costs than running...

...Stages of Ego Development Jillian Whalen PSY/230 June 20, 2014 Chris Allen Shreve Stages of Ego Development Jane Leovinger created a method of recognizing which stage of ego development one may be in at any given age. A verbal sentence completion test is implemented to help the participant understand more about which one of the nine stages of development she may be experiencing at the time and what she needs to do in order to move on to the next stage. Each stage explains what level of maturity, acceptance, and understanding one may be in at the time of test completion. They also help the individual understand their internal feelings about environmental factors surrounding them and how these factors form the ego. Loevinger notes that not everyone reaches self-actualization and many may be stuck at certain stages. Stage one – The Pre-Social and Symbolic Stage: Because this stage occurs at infancy, it is not as understood as well as other stages because the child is non-verbal and unable to complete the sentence completion test. An infant’s ego, according to Loevinger, is most interested in gratifying immediate needs, such as feedings and diaper changes. She also notes that infants form a close bond with their primary care giver. While the child recognizes she is a different entity from the world that surrounds her, she has trouble distinguishing her own identity from the caregiver. Stage two- The Impulsive Stage Loevinger describes this stage in relation...

...personal experience of this kind. The author of this article had a friend who was driving down a country road texting while driving. He swerved left of center and hit a box truck head on and died instantly. Everyone in high school at the time knew him so it was quite devastating to the entire student body. There were grief counselors on site for a couple weeks after he passed away. This incident shows how a simple act can instantly affect everyone so quickly. There are more and more texting while driving injuries and deaths happening every day. A lot of these injuries and deaths are in states with lenient texting while driving laws. If communities in the states with these lenient laws helped raise awareness, people may think twice before texting while driving and also raising awareness could possibly lead to the chance to change some laws. Some people believe texting while driving laws make people have to hide their texting behind the wheel, thus making it more dangerous (Masnick, 2012). Regardless of opinions, studies show that there is a significant difference in the number of violations between states with lenient laws and states with strict laws (Masnick, 2012). Texting while driving laws are not strict enough in certain states, making citizens of those states not take texting while driving laws serious, which could possibly cause more accidents and even death....

...Definition: We are interested in counseling and helping abandoned rape victims in India, and change the society's perception of them. So we are considering holding a fashion show to raise money and awareness of this forgotten issue in the feminists’ agenda. Current Condition: The reason we are considering our CSR is because raped women in India are facing some serious issues concerning their well-being and welfare, but they are incapable of confronting and overcoming them on their own (George, 2015). We have already done some CSR ideas in the past. For example, earlier in 2012, to boost awareness of the Mitochondrial Disease, we hosted The Chanel Pour le Temps Charity Fashion Show which was a standout amongst the most foreseen occasions of the year (Chanel Pour le, 2012). Moreover, in 2013, a fashion show was held in Paris' Grand Palais demonstrating eco-friendly supplies and handiwork for their recent cloth collection (Reynolds, 2013). Due to Chanel’s hiatus of CSR activities, the idea is to bring the company an incredible social impact by advertising its name in the midst of the ongoing social justice campaigns and feminism movements. As it is a trademark that is made for women and by a woman, it is important for us to help these neglected women defeat their fears and restore hope in their hearts. Course of Action: Beneficiaries We chose India, or rather specifically northern India, for our new CSR because in 2011 a total of 24,206 rape cases were registered...

As not being a native English speaker I was worried that either the members of the groups will take me into their groups. As the class began my tutor John asked us to write our names in a tag and wear it, we were also required to sit in away so that we are facing each other in the class. John then asked to start the first activity which was to introduce the member sitting in front of each of the students. My mate sitting in front of me was Liam and he is working in hospital as a part time employee. On the other hand Abdul sitting next to me is doing HR as major. I felt that by undertaking this activity john was trying to develop our team or classmates and build strong relationship within our group. The activity enabled students get to know each other and It was about to think which group or people I would join for the group task. Finally at the end of the class john formed us in a small group and also helped us to understand the unit outline. Reflecting & Inferring By being a part of the introductory class I realised that we were all in the same track and therefore we needed to introduce ourselves so that we can all reach our task. The first task was to form PLG(Peer Learning Group) which did require us to know each other so that we are...
