Gilgamesh and Achilles are the perfect depictions of ancient heroes; but they would not hold up to our modern depictions of heroes. Both men were considered to be part God, which might be responsible with their lack of morality. They were greatest warriors of their time, and both loved the fame that came with being the best. For example, the only reason that Gilgamesh went on the journey to slay Humbaba was to increase his fame and status among his people; and Achilles went to war to find glory and prove he is the best. Both men are also too prideful for their own good. Gilgamesh constantly believes he can fight and kill various monsters, such as Humbaba and the Bull of Heaven.
