Compatibility Compatibility is the view that all events, including human actions are caused, also known as soft determinism. Compatibility states that outside forces limit freedom and that individuals do not have a choice in the decisions that they make and some have trouble distinguishing free acts from developmental acts. This happens because there are issues that are looked at as being caused, forced or compelled. Every action is caused, but not every action is compelled. Strengths in compatibilism are voluntary acts that someone does because they want to, such as protesting a cause although you know you may be arrested, stealing, signing an agreement or leaving your place of employment to go to lunch when you know its looked down upon. These are individual choices that one makes and they know what the consequences are. Weaknesses are being forced out of a place, not eating or drinking because nothing is available or being forced to something. These are uncaused situations that do not give us a choice. This is why practitioners are important to compatibility values. Compatibility values are very important to practitioners because it gives them history of the organization that they are consulting with. The history gives the practitioners insight on how the organization is structured, managed and organized in order to help make them more efficient by building upon the organizations development in order to implement and/or change the overall team effectiveness as willed by upper management. Unfortunately, although these choices might be internal motivations they also include external constraints which may limit the morale and norms for the organization employees which whom the changes would effect.
