God Hears Her Cry......

She sat in her room every day and night ...looking out of the window. The window was very large and had white, with wooden panes. She sighed as she watched two small magpies flying past; they looked so carefree and happy. How she longed for that freedom. Rosie’s house was a large detached property with tall, intimidating iron gates surrounding it. Her mum told her the gates were there to keep her safe, however she knew the gates were there so she didn’t escape, like last time.
Rosie used to like going to school. She liked playing with her friends and dressing up. She really liked the school meals; they were much more filling than what she ate at home.
Rosie had an unhappy, lifeless smile. She was physically weak and mentally broken; just one meal a day meant she didn’t have much energy throughout the school day. The teachers soon started questioning little Rosie, the 7 year old was frightened of what her parents might do if she said anything. Out of fear, she just stayed silent; her teacher could see emptiness in her eyes. Mrs Pebble knew something was wrong. Rosie would play with her friends , but had a tendency to wander around alone staring into space. When Mrs Pebble tried to speak to Rosie she never replied.
It wasn’t until one day, when Rosie arrived at school wearing muddy, wet clothes and with tears running down her scarlet red face that Mrs Pebble had a reason to be seriously concerned. She sought advice from the child support officer at school, unfortunately, she was told that unless there was proof to say otherwise, there may just be something wrong at home. The matter could not be discussed further.
