...Integration of Faith and Learning 2 Natalie Collins Liberty University Abstract The book of Joshua details when God commanded Joshua to lead the Israelites into Jericho, and other cities. The position Joshua had to take can be compared to those that take place in marketing management. Marketing management takes place when an individual takes the necessary steps to achieve desired responses from others in business. Marketing is not only about selling but more importantly it is about knowing your customers so the service you are offering them sells itself. This paper will analyze the scripture Joshua 1:9, as well as the book in comparison to marketing management. We can compare the story when Joshua led the Israelites to the Promised Land to the concept of marketing management. In Joshua 1:9 God says, “"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." Within the context of marketing management this scripture tells us God wanted Joshua to be strong, and have courage in all that he did and wherever he went. In order to be a good leader in business, or in this case war, a person should hold these characteristics. Joshua had to be strong not just physically but also mentally so he would be able to tackle any challenge that he was faced with the help of God. To have courage requires mental and moral strength to help you make the right decisions. Challenging yourself and overcoming...

...Course and Section Number: THEO 202 – D09 Respecting Employees as the Image of God Most Christians believe that humans were created in the image of God. This belief is foundational to the Christian faith. Being fashioned in God’s image endows even the lowliest of sinners with “intrinsic worth”. Because all humans have intrinsic value, managers have a duty to interact with subordinates and customers in a way that reflects God’s love. All people, including poorly performing workers and unreasonable clients, should be “love[d] because he first loved us” (1 John 4:19 NIV). Many generations of Christians have been taught that humankind was created in the image of God. Scripture describes the creation of man in Genesis 1: 26-28. Most Christians interpret the passage in Genesis 1:27 to mean that humans are created in the physical likeness of God. However, the concept of the image of God goes much deeper than a reference to the simple physical likeness of the Creator. The concept also known as imago Dei includes a purpose of humanity. Specifically, following the creation of humankind, God bestowed upon humanity the charge of flourishing, filling the earth, and exercising dominion over the other creatures. Thus, imago Dei describes humanity’s purpose in life and the sense of self-worth. The concept of imago Dei reappears in Genesis 5. This passage reveals that humankind was created in the image of God and Seth was born in the image of his father, Adam. In all of the following generations...

...Group 1 Discussion Board 4 Nicholas Alexander Patrick Brinkman Cherbrie Collins Jessica French Liberty University Decision Making Using Evidence Based Management Daft (2013) states that managers should use data and facts to the “extent possible “ to make decisions using evidence-based management. This statement alludes that experience and intuition may be the best course of action. However, top-level managers may be confusing intuition and experience with fear for change. Cohen defines Evidence based management (EbM) as a model using evidence and facts to initiate change through effective decision-making (2012). Cohen goes on to state that most people only use anecdotal, low-level process problem solving where it is acceptable to be lucky. Most businesses cannot survive on luck alone. For EbM to work, Cohen (2012) identifies three components: analytics, decision-making, and problem solving. Managers must use analytics, math, to track data. This data must be incorporated into the decision-making process. Finally, managers have to know there is a problem and how to solve the problem. It would be beneficial if they knew what caused the problem as well. Dr. Shorthell (2006) identifies some ways to promote EbM within the healthcare community that are applicable for all businesses. The most important is that the data from researchers gets to the users in time to make decisions. The data should be clear and concise and explained in person to alleviate confusion...

...Name____________ Time Management Stage one: Knowledge Time management - the analysis of how working hours are spent and the prioritization of tasks in order to maximize personal efficiency in the workplace Procrastination The discipline of time management is an important skill that needs to be learned early on. One of the biggest obstacles to overcome is procrastination. Procrastination is the problem of putting things off. We all seem to procrastinate on certain levels by making up excuses not to do something. The bad thing is that procrastination can be displayed in an every day lifestyle, which can effect us in achieving our goals. Procrastination can be the reason behind our failures Proverbs 10: 4 - 5 “Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. He who gathers crops in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.” This verse contrasts being lazy with hard work. We need to live our lives for God by not being lazy but by working hard to serve Him. An unproductive lifestyle comes from procrastination Procrastination can lead to a bad lifestyle. It can result in getting bad grades, not showing your best work, and being unproductive. It is important to avoid making excuses and as you head towards your goal, you should pray that God gives you the persistence to achieve it without getting lazy. Underlying problems can be revealed by procrastination If we continue putting things off it can mean we...

...Integration of Faith and Learning II: Joshua 1:9 Verse 1:9 in Joshua says the following, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (ESV). As Christians we believe our God is always faithful and keeps his word no matter what, in fact in my heart, I believe when it comes to having a strong brand, none are stronger than my God. When we look at the definition of Marketing management, “the art and science of choosing target markets and getting keeping, and growing customers through creating, delivering, and communicating superior customer value” (Kotler & Keller, 2013) we see the focus is on selling and/or maintaining brand loyalty for your product which is not always an easy thing to do. In order to be effective in marketing management you must have courage, that same courage that God spoke to Joshua about having as the leader of the Israelites. As a new leader (of millions of people), Joshua faced incredible uncertainty, would the people of Israel follow him or would they resist and speak out against him as they did with Moses. Joshua could not allow this uncertainty or fear of failing prevent him from trying, just as with leading a marketing campaign, you must be willing to take risks, react quickly and decisively to challenges or changes in the market. For example, during the start of the recession in 2008 many companies understood that most Americans would...

...CHRYSLEY CORPORATION When someone mentions Chrysler, what comes to your mind: Dodge Ram Truck, Sam Elliott or the unstable financial investments made by management at Chrysler? Several eras at Chrysler have had ups and downs, mostly influenced by ownership and troublesome economic times. The company has experienced the most trying times in the ladder of its existence. Encountering financial turbulence in the late 1970’s prompted a Congressional bail . This was all accomplished under Lee Iacocca, President and CEO of Chrysler in 1978. Iacocca stabled the near bankrupt company, allowing paying back the loan seven years earlier than expected. In 1987, the No. 4 automaker, American Motors, was bought by Chrysler and the consolidation was yet another financial crisis that lead to restructuring of the company . Chryslers 1990’s were a comeback with its Jeep lineup and vehicles like the powerful Dodge Viper. The company was acquired by Damler Bentz of Germany in 1998, and with inconsistent financial results the shareholders prompted Damler to seek a buyer in 2007. The company was sold to Cerberus Capital Management, an investment fund, which instilled Robert L. Nardelli as chief executive, formally CEO of Home Depot. Nardelli vowed a comeback for Chrysler being yet again an American owned company but suffered a deep sales slump and the recession took hold. In September 2008 sales were down 32.8 percent and prompted Chrysler to search for a merger partner, potentially with...

...In order to achieve success in the midst of the obstacles and challenges in your life there is one entity that everyone must acquire first and that is will power. Along with will power come the elements needed to prosper such as time management, concentration, and having faith in God. A great Minister, Eric Butterworth once said, “Nothing stops the man who desires to achieve. Every obstacle is simply a course to develop his achievement muscle. It's a strengthening of his powers of accomplishment.” Eric Butterworth was an author and Minister; he wrote over 16 best-selling books and lectured in seminars. Because he was also a theologian and philosopher his works relates to my focus which is personal, professional and spiritual obstacles and challenges. Being a student in Palm Beach University has helped me clarify the elements needed to achieve success in the midst of life’s obstacles and challenges. ... Introduction: “In God We Trust”, for now, is imprinted on every piece of U.S. currency today. The Government made it an importance to share the gospel of God even in this small phrase so Americans would follow the Biblical values set for us by understanding this trust even in something as small as a penny. When I finally chose to acquire my degree in finance I had already been working in the industry for over twenty years. And I fought the call of becoming a CPA for many years throughout my work experience. When I took God’s path I knew I wanted to attend a college that was faith based and would lay the ground work in expanding my Christian beliefs so I could apply it to my career. With this new found knowledge it will be important for me to use the Biblical principles in my everyday involvement of my work. “Buy the truth and sell it not; also wisdom and instruction and understanding” Prov. 23:23). My career goal is to be honest and faithful to His word and to imitate His image in the process. Example 1: Finance is a valued part of the Christian life. Whether it is tithing or making sure you are living within your means. God takes how you handle your money, or the money of a company, as serious as any other important issue in your daily living. The disciples were called upon to lay all their material items down and follow Jesus and to have the faith that God would provide. “They learned...

...leadership and management work in a holly congregation. Leadership and management are similar but different. A leader is the basic thought of who a person is. They also think differently, which make them a great leader. A manager is a mirror or a copy of a leader. The present public speaker that comes to mind who is a leader but also a manager is Apostle Darryl Glen McCoy Sr. who is the founder and general overseer of Trumpet In Zion Fellowship, Inc. Apostle McCoy display many ways of leadership. Leadership must first start with the leader having a different thought process from other people, which Apostle does. The reason he is so different is he takes orders from the Lord our Father. This allows the Apostle not to make rational decisions. This molds him to truthfully express his faults to the congregation and other people, which allows growth to manifest. Once he has fallen this teaches him to humble himself to be lead and taught by the best our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Now he receives his experiences from researching the Father that came before him, by doing this he is gains strength and power to be under control but in control of others. This is when the role of the Apostle changes from leadership to management, which means that he only copies what is written. He now has the ability focuses on how the structure of the body of Christ is suppose to be handle and guided. The Apostle must maintain the the light in which he is given to lead the sheep of God. However, Apostle...

...BUSINESS 1 BUS 117-C1 HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Job Analysis and Job Design Reported by: Josephine dela Cruz Garces Job Analysis and Job Design Clearly, the case above is a manifestation of poor human resource practice. There is an apparent lack of job analysis and job design that could have produced the document and the system that would minimize, if not totally eradicate, cases similar to that mentioned from occurring. Meaning and Nature of Job Analysis Job analysis, as a human resource practice, pertains to “the systematic process of determining the skills, duties, and knowledge required for performing jobs in an organization.” (Mondy, 2012). In similar manner, Dr. Roque (2005) defined job analysis as “the process of determining and reporting pertinent information relating to the nature of a specific job” (Roque and Edralin, 2005). As such, job analysis is an activity that sets in detail the tasks necessary in performing one‟s duties in an organization. It so to speak acts as the employees‟ „bible‟ that would set the standards and needed qualifications in successfully performing one‟s functions in the organization. In any organization, this function is the starting point of human resources management. Clearly, other HR functions such as, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisal, training needs analysis, compensation management, cast dependence on it. This can be manifested in the following paradigm: “That In All Things God May Be Glorified” San Beda College ...

...Biblical World View Essay Introduction In the following essay on Biblical World View of, Business Administration, with the foundational Christian belief that man was created in the image of God. There will be two examples in this essay that will explain this view. In the first example, I will be going over leadership and how important it is as a Christian to remember your foundational belief that we are created in the image of God. The second example, I will be discussing the importance of honesty for Christians, since we are created in the image of God. “Immediately following each day of creation God saw that it was good, but after the creation of man, God saw that it was very good”. (Online excerpt, Original Creation of man in the image of god, 2013)Being created in the image of God does not just refer to physical appearance; it also refers to the total essence of God. Example 1 In this example, I will be going over leadership and the Christian foundation that we were created in the image of God. From the very beginning of our creation as humans, we were give leadership over all his creation. With leadership, in any aspect, you will possess tremendous responsibility, and power over others, and their lives. King David stated in Psalm 139 “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous-How well we know it.” (Etzel and Gutierrez, Praxis Beyond Theory, 2012, p 61) AS Christians, one knows, without a doubt, that...

...Essay Introduction: The “Image of God.” What is the image of God in a Christian? The “image of God” is vastly used to describe what the Christian faith should portray. We can find this term in the Bible a few times. In the Old Testament, Genesis 1:26-27 to be exact we find that it states that “man is created to the image of God”. I believe that “the belief that mankind is created in the image of God” really is trying to allow us to see that our reflection should be that of those characteristics that God portrays such as compassion, love, understanding, patience, respect and so on. As I am currently studying to work in Business Administration focused in the Healthcare Management, I believe that I need to be able to portray patience and respect. Example 1: Respect for others is a great way to be able to put the image of God into practice with my chosen vocation. We can clearly see that in 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 (“We ask you, brothers, to respect those who labor among you and over you in the lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.”) what God is trying to teach us about respect towards others. We cannot just sit there and disrespect others due to their imperfections, for every single one of us has imperfections but yet have great respected qualities that differ from one person to another. In the healthcare management field one must be able to respect opinions of those above...
