Although the Junie B. Jones series does contain incorrect grammar and name-calling, the story always ends with a lesson. If the child experiences any situations similar to the ones that Junie B. Jones faces, the child will know how to handle it. The child will also see how name calling might hurt someone’s feelings, so they will be less likely to do it. If someone called you a meanie or a tattletale, like Junie B Jones did, the lesson in the book will show the child that it is not acceptable to call people those names. When Barbara Parks wrote these books, she uses grammatical errors because she wanted to make her readers believe that a elementary schooler wrote it. Park’s intention was not to lead children to make wrong choices.
