1. What personality traits do you possess that help you grow as a person? I have a lot of traits that help me grow as a person. One is being a very optimistic person. Even though there are a lot of challenges being a student myself, I make it a point to always look at the brighter side of life. I never let negative vibes absorb my energy although sometimes I cannot avoid it. If it happens, I relax my mind and body so that I will have enough time to think about things and control my emotions. Another trait I possess is being a very passionate person. If I am assigned to do a task, I give my 100% and I do it with all my heart. I exert all the time and effort I have just to achieve the results I desire and expect. I am also a compassionate kind of person. Before I judge someone, I imagine myself in his/her situation to be able to weigh things. I also show how I value a person through the things I do for him/her that I know would help him/her. I am also the kind of person who will always think of others’ welfare first before me. Lastly, I am the kind of person who is willing to do everything just to achieve her goals in life. I do not stop until I get what I am eyeing for.
2. What’s the greatest challenge you have experienced so far and how did you cope with it? The greatest challenge I have experienced in my entire life is the absence of a family car. I live in Caloocan City, 30 minutes away from SM City Fairview which means I live 2 hours away from school. The hard part is that I have to walk a lot every day, wearing my heels, just to get to school. From our house, I need to ride a bus until Central, the huge Iglesya ni Kristo church along Commonwealth. When I get there, I must cross the foot bridge until UP and then from UP Gate, I must walk until I reach the Katipunan terminal which is like a 10-15 minute walk. Imagine the heat of the sun being absorbed by my skin so early in the morning. The tiring travel is not yet done, when I get to Katipunan I still need to cross another foot bridge and walk from Miriam High School gate up to the college entrance. When I reach MC, I feel so tired and exhausted already because of the long travel I just had. This is my normal daily routine and it really causes me distress every single day. What I do to cope up with this challenge is that I keep in mind that this suffering will not be long. This has been my daily routine since first year which is almost three years ago now. Just one more year and I’m done. In fact, this has been an inspiration to me. I am being challenged to study hard to be able to buy myself a car someday.
3. What are your goals in life? What are your plans to achieve your goals? What actions have you already made to achieve your goals? What are the obstacles that you think you will experience in achieving your goals? Or have you experienced any obstacle in achieving your goals? One of the goals I have in life is to be able to work in a huge prestigious company here in the Philippines as a Public Relations Head. I also dream of not just working for a company but also to have one for myself. I have already begun my plans to be able to achieve it which is to study hard for a reward of good grades. I also practice my skills by volunteering for organizations outside the school to help hone my skills in leadership even more. I also do extensive researching and reading to broaden my knowledge. The obstacles that I think may come my way are these people with insufficient trust on me and also the competitiveness of our generation nowadays. It is really hard to land on a good job because of so many applicants.
4. What important lessons have you acquired from your Miriam College education? In my almost three years here in Miriam College, I have learned a lot of life lessons that I truly treasured. I have learned to follow authorities because they will always be above you. You will never go wrong if you listen to their advice and apply it to your life. I have also learned to be involved with organizations for they will be a key to a higher level of learning. You will grow together and be teachers of one another as well. One lesson I have learned is to be a good citizen of our country. Always serve your country with all your strength. Finally, always look up to God because He is the source of everything you have. He is the One who gave life to you therefore you must use your life for His greater glory.

...recorded on the front of the Candidate Record Forms. Task Choices The most frequently attempted tasks were those based on Tourism (35% of work seen), Water on the Land (32%), the Coastal Zone (12%), Changing Urban Environments (7%) and the Living World (6%). Centres successfully contextualised the chosen task so that their candidates were able to produce valid investigations. There were some instances of centres attempting a task from the incorrect year of submission or deviating from the task, although not to a degree that invalidated the work produced. The Investigations Many investigations exceeded the guidance of 2000 words and some were far too long. This was particularly evident where very able candidates had access to ICT for the majority, or all, of the time allowed for the task. Centres are advised to ensure that all of their candidates keep to the guidance of 2000 words. Shorter and more succinct pieces of work tend to be more tightly focused, they are easier for centres to mark and they are more manageable from the candidates’ perspective. The more concise style has led, in some instances, to higher quality writing and more attention to detail. It has also been found that candidates who have produced excessively lengthy...

Advice to a Friend on Choosing a Mistress

...Analysis of Advice to a Friend on Choosing Mistress Advice to a Friend on Choosing Mistress is a letter written by Benjamin Franklin in June 25th 1745 to his friend. The speech of this letter is essentially communicated to single men. The author gave advices particularly to his friend on which type of woman he should date if he is not ready to get married. Franklin preceded his lustful consulting by an apology for the marriage, recalling his friend how much carnal pleasures are favourable in a legal and recognized union. In his message, Franklin advises his friend that marriage is the best solution not for only sexual desires but also the undisputable source of solid happiness. Having suspicions that his friend would not follow his guidance, Franklin recommends him to choose older mistresses instead of younger ones and lists eight valuables reasons to better support his argument. Franklin commences his essay by presenting advantages of the marriage. He says ‘’ I know of no medicine fit to diminish the violent inclinations you mention…Marriage is the proper remedy. It is most natural state of man and therefore the state in which you can are most likely to find solid happiness’’. Through those sentences, Franklin seems to estimate that from a masculine’ view, one of the main advantages of the marriage is to bring pacification toward requirements of the flesh. The recipient of the letter who was the friend of the author seemed to be looking for a situation in which he...

Institutionalizing Mentoring In Police Departments

...The progress on my research paper is a work in progress. As I write my research paper, I find that I am having a difficult time focusing and being able to put my thoughts on paper in a comprehendible way. Today, however, has been the most productive day for me as far as homework and writing, since the arrival of my daughter. Sleep deprivation is definitely taking a toll on my body and mind. Two interesting facts I have found so far on the benefits of mentoring comes from an article I found in Police Chief Magazine, Institutionalizing Mentoring in Police Departments, written by Harvey Sprafka. Sprafka discusses the difference between a Field Training Officer (FTO) and a mentor. Sprafka describes the roles as “distinct yet complementary”....

Summary of Documentations on Paper Recycling in Japan, the U.S., Europe and China

...Summary of documentations on paper recycling In Japan, the US, Europe and China Recycling benefits the environment much more than other waste management methods (Technical University of Denmark and the Danish Topic Centre on Waste and Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP), 2006). With the environmental, economic and societal benefits, we can conclude that building an effective paper recycling system in China would be a good idea. This paper is a basic summary of paper recycling practices in Japan, the US and Europe. It is intended to be a reference for drawing up an appropriate and practical plan for school and office paper recycling projects in China. Paper Recycling Statistics Japan has an extraordinary reputation in paper recycling because of its refined and effective paper recycling system. While the volume of recovered paper grew in the 1980s, the paper recycling rate went through a stagnant period before the rate started to rise rapidly in 1997. Japan’s paper recycling rate reached 77.9% in 2011, but the volume was 21.5 million tons, which is less than the 22.7 million tons recycled in 2008, due to less consumption of paper(Paper recycling in Japan, 2012). According to the 2012 sustainability report of American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), the U.S. achieved a paper recycling rate of 66.8% (about 46 million tons of paper) in 2011, which was nearly twice the 1990 rate. In addition, the goal of the AF&PA’s “sustainability initiative - Better...

Survival Guide

...Survival Guide Let’s Get Started On the first day of classes with Axia College, it is important to login and download the course materials and syllabus. I have found that by making folders under My Documents labeled first with the course name, and then inside have folders labeled each week 1-9 where I save the relevant materials for the weeks work. After downloading the files to the appropriate files, it is best to break up the syllabus. I like to copy and paste each week of the syllabus to a word document filed again under the corresponding week. This makes it easy to access what is needed for the week. It is also important to download the course calendar to keep a closer watch on when assignments are due. By looking at the course calendar at the beginning of each week you will be able to manage your assignments accordingly. After reading through the course syllabus and downloading course materials the next step is to check the main forum. The main forum is where your instructor posts information about what changes may be made for the week and also posts the weekly discussion questions for you to answer. In the main forum only the instructor will post topics. This is the area in which we as students post replies to the teacher and also our classmates. These posts are the only ones that apply to your weekly participation grade. It is very important...

Writing Papers

...the assumption that I would only have to compose simple paragraph papers while also learning the ropes of grammatical writing. I was sadly mistaken. Through the semester Josh gave the class five writing assignments. They ranged from three to five pages long. Out of all the writing assignments I received my favorite was a four page paper I had to write an allegory of myself. My least favorite was a five page paper the whole class had to write. About mid semester, when my hand only had a tingle, Josh lectured about Plato’s “A Allegory of the Cave.” Thus giving me my next challenging task he had in store. I had to compose an allegory of myself while explaining the concept of the Plato’s allegory. I had to dissect the symbolism in Plato’s allegory and prove how it coincided with my own allegory. What made this objective so interesting, yet so strenuous was the fact that my allegory had to be based upon a difficult time I have had in my life. My essay was littered with very detailed descriptors of my dreadful situation and Plato’s allegory. That is why this particular essay was my favorite. I8 was able to take a seemingly arduous task and break it down, in my own words, so that a reader would be able to comprehend “The Allegory of the Cave,” and still be able to relate to my allegory. The last essay due came just before my hand fell off. Before the class took our final exam we were obligated to write a five page paper as a whole. Josh told us we had to accomplish the task without his...
