Hard Lives Are Worth all the Trouble
Hard lives can not be an excuse to missing assignments, being late, or overwhelming oneself. In a way it is almost an insult to an instructor, saying that time is not well spent doing something for them. That being said, instructors should never lower their standards due to a student's busy life; students also shouldn’t think of time as something they can abuse simply because they are young and in college. Community college students come to community college for a variety of reasons, regardless of why they choose to do so, they are always welcome. As long as students believe they can achieve their goals than anything is possible. We all have hard lives, some more difficult and drawn out than others. And however for many decades people have managed to overcome busy schedules and make it work, all instructors want what's best for their students and although they might seem a bit insane, believe it or not all the trouble is worth it in the end.
All the work and all the trouble of scheduling may seem unimportant and a new student might not understand the big deal, however it can change the outlook one might have on their life. Just taking ten minuets week to evaluate the time that we all have available can make a drastic difference in how the task at hand are accomplished. Putting a schedule down on paper gives the perfect perspective on how the time that’s available is used. The author of The Myth of Inferiority backs up this clause by stating that, "I have found also found students who manage to complete a full load of classes successfully while working three jobs, rearing multiple children alone, caring for elderly relatives, and coping with chronic illnesses or disability" (Cullpeper330). Once all the things are put down that make ones life "busy " time can be made for more important

Nt1310 Unit 1 Assignment 2 Visual Analysis

...This photograph is of Ed Mirvish in front of his store, Honest Ed's, on the corner of Bathurst and Bloor St. West in Toronto and was taken in 1983. The photograph was taken by Tibor Kolley for the Globe and Mail and was sourced on their website from the news article on the history of Honest Ed's. This image interested me because of Honest Ed's recent closure, as well as because I find it visually interesting as there is something going on in the fore, middle, and background of the image. Reading Reflection #1: Barthes’ concepts of Connotation & Dennotation This image relates to Barthes concept of the photographic message, specifically in relation to the “denotation” and “connotation” of the messages that can be read from press images. To summarize, Barthes describes that a press photograph has both a denoted message and a connoted message. Essentially, the denoted message is whatever is in the image (Barthes 17). In the case of my own chosen photograph, it is an older male in a suit standing in front of a street corner with a gathering of people around a building behind him. Secondly, press photographs also have a connoted message, which the public decides based on what they see and what they can interpret from the denoted image (17). For example, assuming that the man owns (what might be) a store behind him is a connoted message. Or that the people behind him are lined up for a big sale is also a connoted message; it is making inferences about the image based on already...

We watch it in the class for about 1 and a half hour. Below is the summary that I have summarized. McClane is attempting to stop cyber terrorists who hack into government and commercial computers across the United States with the goal to start a "fire-sale" of financial assets. The F.B.I. responds to a brief computer outage at their Cyber-Security Division by tracing down top computer hackers, finding several of them have been killed. Taking others into protective custody, the F.B.I. asks New York City Police Department detective John McClane to collect Matthew "Matt" Farrell. McClane arrives in time to prevent Farrell from being killed by assassins working for a cyber-terrorist named Mai Linh who was working for her boss and love interest, Thomas Gabriel. En route to Washington, D.C. Farrell reveals that he received a large sum of money from Mai to write an algorithm that can crack a security system. As they arrive in D.C., Gabriel orders his own crew of hackers to take control of the transportation grids and stock market, while nationally broadcasting a message threatening the United States. Farrell recognizes this as the start of a "fire sale", an attack designed to target the nation's reliance on computer...

In our class, we are currently studying ancient Greek myths and the valued characteristics that the heroes of those stories possess. We are writing to you in regards to a stunt that was pulled off by the main character of Die Hard whose personal characteristics resemble those found in the myths we are studying. We would like to hear your thoughts on whether the stunt in question could be pulled off in real-life. In a scene from Die Hard, the main character, played by Bruce Willis, survives an explosion on the rooftop of a skyscraper by tying a fire hose to his waist, which breaks his fall, and allows him to smash a window of a lower story and take cover within the that story of the building. Willis falls 2-3 floors before the hose brings him to a complete stop. Now, as much as we love to witness the unlikely on a movie screen, we find it highly improbable that this could happen for a multitude of reasons. An average fire hose is about two and a half inches in diameter, anywhere from fifty to a hundred feet long, and the maximum amount of pressure that can be withstood is about 1,204 psi. A normal sized man is about 154 pounds, and Bruce Willis, who is five feet and eleven inches, is closer to 195 pounds. If...

Kambas Ng Lipunan

...The short video entitle “Kambas ng Lipunan” made me realize the true face of society and the reality we live in. I have so many questions I ask myself like “What is my purpose in life? Am I on the right path? Have I done anything to help those in need?” but until now I still don’t have the answers. The maker of the short video, Joey Velasco, shared his talent and tried to make a difference in the society through his paintings Most of us would just watch and do nothing, but one man stood up and made an impact. It really is an eye-opener for the viewers to cherish and be thankful on the blessing that we receive. While I am spending money for such nonsense things, others are dying of hunger. I was a man who did not think of the value of money for others nor have I thought how hard it was to earn it, and it was proven true when I saw the clip. They are obliged to work for them to live, instead of them going to school and have a proper education for a brighter future. I don’t know how these children handle all the pressure and burden of being a breadwinner at such a young age. But as I watched the video, I can still the smile on their faces as if they don’t have problems or that they can face any obstacle they experience. It just shows that these children still haven’t lose hope of making their lives better. I have felt this extra ordinary kind of guilt within me. I can’t explain that feeling, it seems that I am very useless for I can’t do anything to those who are less fortunate...

Innovation

...Windows PC with a modified Pentium III processor, alongside powerful display graphics, audio hardware, and a modified Windows 2000 OS. Today, incremental innovations to the Xbox have led Microsoft to unveil the Xbox one. The Xbox 360, its predecessor, was launched in 2005 and had more components under its belt than the original Xbox. For example, the console had a custom IBM Power PC-based CPU with three 3.2 GHz cores, custom ATI graphics processor with 10 MB embedded DRAM, a 512 MB 700 MHz GDDR3 RAM, a detachable and upgradeable hard drive, a 12x dual-layer DVD-ROM, support for up to four wireless game controllers, three USB 2.0 ports, and two memory unit slots. The original Xbox included an online service (Xbox Live) for players to compete against each other online, but for a premium price. On the other hand, the 360’s Xbox Live service allowed users to use the service for free by introducing a ‘Silver’ membership (free). Additionally, Xbox Live now allowed the ability to stream multimedia content from PCs, as well as music, TV programs, movies, and access to third-party applications. Alongside the Xbox 360 came the release of a motion control system, the Kinect, a motion control system that used an advanced sensor system. Many different versions of the Xbox 360 were released in order to target consumers who were price sensitive, as well as those who enjoyed more memory in the...

It is a big cow in my life and this book showed the way how to overcome it. I always had the feeling that everyone around me is better than me at the time to speak in English, I can imagine all the words and phrases in my mind, but at the time that I have to speak and my classmates stare at me I panic and I start to think that I am not good enough to do what I have to do; I remember a lot of opportunities that I lost because of my fear to do something…..but that was until today.. This book presents us different kind of vacas that can be affecting our lives, I just added one that was affecting my life. One of the greatest are the excuses that we create when we think that we are not able to do something. Excuses are part of our daily life, because we let it to be. Strategic Positioning - Where the Xbox One Went Wrong

...segment which Sony was now dominating, Microsoft developed and released the Xbox in 2001. It quickly established itself as Sony’s biggest competitor; with the Xbox selling 1.53 million in the USA alone 3 months after launch, far eclipsing the PlayStation 2. Initially, these consoles were focussed towards single-players, with multi-play being possible only by attaching multiple controllers to the console physically. Soon, video games started changing, with a lot of focus on online multi-player offerings in most bestselling titles. With PC gaming still offering the best solution for online multi-play requirements, consoles were losing out on this segment. With the introduction of the PlayStation Network on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox Live on the Xbox 360, consoles were now geared up for social, multi-player engagements. Microsoft’s New Direction With Xbox One Microsoft recently displayed a remarkable backpedalling of segmentation strategy with the Xbox One. I will attempt to illustrate this shift by comparing two Xbox one commercials, one at E3 2015, and the other from 2013, which was a pre-launch promotion Here’s the commercial from 2013, just before the Xbox launched. ...city I try, no I do, avoid. I have to admit that these areas are predominately black and poor. I live out here in the country now and have to admit that I am not street savvy or “street wise” so to say. I admit have driven for quite a distance to deliberately avoid these areas. Some of the things that bother me are the attitude of some of these young black men. The swagger, language, and almost defiant attitude. I have to admit it scares me somewhat, and yes, I am one of those people who try not to make eye contact. I believe that this behavior probably angers some of the black youths as they are offended by my behavior. I also believe that one bad instance with a black youth can anger a small community and scare the residents against all black youths. I have always considered myself not to be prejudice but this has made me see things differently. I now believe that I am somewhat prejudice, and I do not think that this is a good trait in myself. It is amazing how one small article can make you reflect on your own behavior throughout your life. I know I would not like to be looked at and judged just for my appearance. If you lived in the Village-Northton how would your interactions be different from what they now are? Exactly what behaviors would you change?
