At the rate they are going all excess funds will have disbursed in eight more years if something within the operations does not change. Swank hospital could potentially be in the red in as little as 8-10 years if the management doesn’t change business practices.
According to the financial statement analysis ratios presented, Swank medical does not seem to be steady in any respect. In fact the report shows that over the period of four years the return on assets has reduced by almost half as well as the return on equity. Additionally, the cash flow coverage is on an uneven rise and decline but the times they earned interest continue to plummet downward. These are all weaknesses that will harm the hospital’s financial status.
On a positive note Swank has a lessening inventory turnover and an asset turnover that is on the rise most recently. The fixed assets and total asset turnover have been quite minimal. Also strength is the average collection period that was reducing until more recently where it has jumped back up by over 10%.
Although the data from our spreadsheet is from 2012; the most current operating indicator analysis from this data shows marked reductions in profit per inpatient discharge by over $225 and for outpatients $37 per patient over the last four years. Also, there is a positive increase in outpatient revenue percent with a constant incline, even with an average lower daily census and an ever

...The Future Challenges for Health Care Management Name Institutional Affiliation The Future Challenges for Health Care Management Introduction Health care is one of the fundamental aspects of a developed country given that it is a requirement of every single citizen. Many countries over the world exhibit a similarity in the managing health care. Modern health care management systems result from past strategies that were implemented to address past challenges. It is therefore misleading for health care managers to think that the future is going to be stable. Apparently, health care management is facing many challenges that call for proactive approaches in addressing those problems at present and in the future. The aim of this paper is to discuss the future challenges facing health care management. Past researches indicate a change in the demographics, particularly an increase of the elderly. Analyze two (2) current trends in health care that are affecting human resources management that may likely impact your hiring decision as HR manager. Provide support for your analysis. Two trends in health care affecting human resources management that may likely impact your hiring decision as an HR manager are recruitment and retention and technological change. Quality and Safety in Health Care Management

...Running head: QUALITY AND SAFETY IN HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT 1 Quality and Safety in Health Care Management Murimi Stephen muriets@gmail.com JKUAT December 2014 QUALITY AND SAFETY IN HEALTH CARE MANAGEMENT 1. Introduction 2 Although health care facilities are designed to ensure people are safe, they remain a dangerous place to be (Mitchell, Gardner, & McGregor, 2012). The sources of risks in the hospital include medical errors, falls, and health care associated infections (HAIs). The World Health Assembly (WHA) held on 18th May 2012 passed a resolution that addressed the issue of patient safety and quality in health care (Briš & Keclíková, 2012). WHA called for continued improvements in health care quality and patient safety (Briš & Keclíková, 2012). Therefore, there is a need to evaluate the existent health care systems in order to identify the causes of risks and come up with a plan that can improve health care standards. The plan should also aim at improving the safety techniques applied in other high risk industries, such as the mass transportation, chemical engineering, and nuclear power generation sectors (Shillito, Arfanis, & Smith, 2010). According to the accident causation model developed by Reason in 1990, accidents are caused by many factors that work in concert (Shillito, Arfanis, & Smith, 2010). Such accidents must be prevented by instituting the necessary checks and controls within the system (Shillito, Arfanis, & Smith, 2010). According to Shillito...

Organization and Management of a Health Care Policy

...Organization and Management of a Health Care Policy HSA 515 – Health Care Policy, Law, and Ethics August 13, 2015 With lives in their hands, hospitals have to function very precisely, executing high-quality services every hour of every day. Organizations that have this sort of requirement usually take on a vertical organizational structure that is having many layers of management, with most of the organization’s staff working in very specific, narrow, low authority roles. The numerous layers of management are designed to make sure that no one person can throw the system off too much. This structure also ensures that tasks are being done exactly and correctly. Organizational structure of a hospital refers to the levels of management within a hospital. Levels allow efficient management of hospital departments. The structure also helps one to understand the hospital’s chain of command. Organizational structure varies from hospital to hospital. Large hospitals have complex organizational structures while smaller hospitals tend to have much simpler organizational structure. A typical organizational structure of a hospital would usually be a combination of a hierarchical and divisional structure, since there is a chain of command where some levels are under another level, but employees are organized in departments or divisions that have their own roles. At the top of the structure would be the administrators, followed by the information services and therapeutic services. Both...
