...Dorim’s early childhood center have three days a year they have “teacher work days.” During those days they have a meeting which teachers them different ways to teacher their classes. The reason why they have three days like that is because they have three different age levels: toddlers, nursery, and pre-k. Each meeting one level “teaches” the others how they do their daily routine. When you form new teams, sometime you need ice breakers. Some easy icebreakers are the circle pass and the human knot. The circle pass is when you have everyone stand up and create a circle. Then you have everyone hold hands. Next you give them a hula-hoop and put it around a set of people holding hands. What the group does after they are set up, they have to make the hula hoop go around the whole circle with out anyone breaking the circle. The human knot is when you have everyone randomly grab hand is a group. Then they have to unknot...

...Institutional holding and market friction Ping-Wen Sun Louisiana State University psun1@lsu.edu Abstract This study investigates the relationship between the institutional holding and the stock’s market friction measure. According to Sun’s (2007) findings, I use Hou and Moskowitz’s (2005) price delay measure (D1) and Liu’s (2006) liquidity measure (LM12) to proxy for a stock’s market friction. I find that a higher total institutional holding tends to decrease a stock’s price delay measure, but institutional holding exhibits a U-shaped relationship with a stock’s LM12 measure. However, as the number of institutions increases, the stock’s market friction decreases. In terms of different types of institutional holdings, higher total block holding or higher top five institutional holding of a stock increases a stock’s market friction level. Furthermore, in contrast to Agarwal’s (2007) findings, higher independent long term institutional holding and risk averse institutional holding tends to decrease a stock’s market friction level. ...ebony blanket, not a single glittery beads or shining emerald could be seen. Then my gaze flicked on the alarm clock beside me. 0330 was the number plastered on the plastic surface of the square alarm clock with red lights. “Papa should be here” I uttered the words with my little child voice. As I laid myself in a fetal position, holding close to my chest the picture-perfect moment captured by the piece of paper, was my beloved family. Mummy was wearing a vermillion dress that showed her slender figure smiling timidly with her eyes closed as daddy land a kiss on her forehead, standing handsomely with the black tuxedo. I stood in the middle, focusing on the camera with my eyes widen as big as I could as I feared that the flash of the camera make me blinked my glistened jovial eyes. Out of the blue, I heard footsteps coming from downstairs and before I could move, the light from outside loomed into my bedroom as he door has a slither opening. I ran towards the door with my small steps and the seconds I hold the knob, there standing in front of me was my father. “I’m sorry dear, I should read you a bedtime story now” he said with a penitent smile, holding me inside his embrace. Sunlight kissed my eyelids and soon my retinas started accustomed to the piercing ray of the eye of heaven. The tranquil ambiance filled my bedroom as I land my gaze to the lush green leaves dangling from the pine tree next to the window. I darted to the veranda, slamming the door open to see if the sleek...

...I have wrinkly and dry hands. I grew up with eczema and other skin problems that ended up making my hands look as if they were old enough to have grandchildren. I relayed this to an elderly patient I was working with at the assisted living home I interned at as she marvelled at the not far comparison her and my hands shared. The occupational therapist had me do some hand strengthening and mobility exercises with her patients so I sat with an older resident with Parkinson's and we picked up pennies and pinched putty together. The neural issues in her right hand made it difficult to clench and unclench, but it didn’t stop her from holding my hand into hers to tell me that I was doing a fine job interning with her OT and that my old hands were going to do a lot of good in the future. This was my introduction to what occupational therapy did with others and it became my invitation to learn and do more....

...September 28, 2013 Michaelia Henry ID No. 0210073 M.Arch 1 Course: Critical Theories in Architecture Lecturer: Arch. Jacquiann Lawton Critical Theories in Architecture: Modernity Exploring Research Methodology – Writing Dialectical History Thesis Statement Craftsmanship is the basic human impulse to do a job well for its own sake. It involves Creative Thought, Precision, Apprenticeship, Crafting an Object Well, adhering to The Structure of the Workshop and the Practice of the Intelligent Hand. Contemporary Jamaican Woodcraft is an example of Craftsmanship. Introduction Fashioning furniture, doors, windows and other architectural elements out of timber is an old practice. Before the industrial period, many of these items would be crafted by hand. The effort and care taken to create each piece; seen in the final product. This is one way of romanticizing traditional woodwork. A more cynical view would be to criticize the minor imperfections of these pieces – the uneven pattern created by carving by hand, the lack of perfect symmetry in the manmade spindle form. This cynical view has some validity – if; the priority of making the object is the actualization of perfection. Social commentators like Richard Sennett believe this kind of priority misses the true point of Craftsmanship – the desire to do something well for its own sake. I agree. The actualization of Craftsmanship is not about the making a perfect object. It is about the intrinsic need to do a job well for its own sake. There...

...eyes met, she smiled and I felt my heart melt. Her presence transfixed me in a fantasy world where when she walked down the street, the birds sing and the sun shines. I showed her into the house, holding open the door as I said ‘ladies first’. As I gave her a tour of each room, you could feel her presence light up a room like sunshine. Resting my hand gently onto her back gave me goosebumps as I felt her energy pulse through me. That mere touch clouding my thoughts as I succumb to the sweet smell of her perfume and elegant beauty. The day was filled with laughter and happiness as the hours flew by, nothing else existed except for us. It was like being trapped in the perfect dream. I stood up from the couch and extended my hand, her hand slipped into mine like they were made for each other, the missing piece in the puzzle. I guided her through the house, taking a quick glimpse at her, getting lost in her eyes and almost forgetting what I was doing. I turned to her as we approached my bedroom door, opening it for her as she glided past me. My stomach turned as I hoped that she’d approve of my room, she sat down on my bed and giggled at my baby photo. I then stood before her, holding hands as I searched for solace in her light brown eyes. My thoughts raced yet not a single noise was made, except for the beat of our hearts and the sound of shallow breathing. Excitement and shock shot...

...free to read it. Enjoy! WHY WE WIN: THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH First let's explain exactly why beating the micro limits is so easy. I think knowing why what you're doing works is extremely helpful when you're learning. Poker is a game of skill, like chess or backgammon. The short term goal of poker is to win money, but the underlying goal of any game like poker or chess isn't actually to 'win'. The goal is to make fewer mistakes than your opponent. If you make fewer mistakes, you win by default. The only time this isn't true is when some inherent luck is involved, as it is in poker. Bad play in poker can win, but only in the short term. The Fundamental Theorem of Poker as presented by David Sklansky is as follows: “Every time you play a hand differently from the way...

...self-control. On the active hand (the right hand if a person’s right-handed) a folded-in thumb shows hesitation in applying oneself to worldly ambitions. On the passive hand, on a more personal level, a bent-inward thumb shows inner conflicts. If you’re engaged in personal trans-formation, wear a narrow, silver ring (for higher guidance and strength) with a milled surface (for industry and effort) on the passive hand’s thumb. This will strengthen your resolve and induce greater powers of self-mastery. Any new challenge, be it losing weight or sticking to your morning yoga class will be easier. Index finger: The index finger is known to palmists as the ‘mirror’ finger. It’s ruler is Jupiter and it’s about self-reflection. A big ring on the active index finger shows self-esteem issues, and a frustrated need for power and recognition. This is particularly true if there’s a large gemstone. In portraits of powerful, ruling figures, like Henry VIII, Elizabeth I and Napoleon, large rings are visible on both index fingers. Tin is the metal of Jupiter, so if you lack self-confidence, wear a ring of base metal on the index finger of your active hand to reinforce and enhance the sense of self. Ensure the ring has no gems and has flat, faceted sides (for modesty, humility and all-round recognition). You’ll feel better immediately. Visualize the kind of personal qualities you want frequently while turning the ring slowly with the finger and thumb of your other hand. Middle Finger:...

...Center Experience The center I decided to do my observation is a Kindercare. The Kindercare I went to was a big center. There were two sides to the center. One side was just infants and toddlers, and the other side was preschool, prek, and kindergarten. The director welcomed me when I arrived and showed me around the center. She seemed very nice and someone who truly cares about the children. She explained there were two infant rooms and four toddler rooms. I decided to observe in a toddler room. When I arrived at the center it was about 2:30 in the afternoon. The children had just gotten up from naptime and were getting diaper changes. One of the teachers was able to talk to me for a little bit. She told me that normally there are ten children in the class. But since there are only two teachers, two children are moved to different rooms everyday. The room was very inviting. There were many different boards up. The boards were different from what I have seen before. They were all white with no borders. The teacher explained to me that all the rooms at the center were the same. The boards had to be uniform so the rooms don’t become too over stimulating. Both teachers seemed very nice and I could tell the children loved them. By the time I was ready to start my observation, most of the diaper changes had been done. I asked the teacher where I should sit so I wouldn’t be in the way. I sat in the back of the classroom and started to watch the kids. When my observation was...

...beaten Babby Bobby for playing in the tool shed, Babby Bobby had to be taken to the emergency room because he kept coughing up blood and had received another beating for causing such fuss. School was no better, at school the other children would put frogs in his desk because they scared him and wiped boogers on his jacket. The teachers never chose him to answer questions even though his hand was always first in the air. Babby Bobby was really very bright but no one noticed. The only people that noticed a thin, shy child like him were the bullies. His days were dark but his nights darker still, Babby Bobby would dream the most terrible dreams, dreams of blood and heat and falling, always falling deeper and deeper through the earth. One morning in early spring Babby Bobby was walking to school when he found a shell. Normally he wouldn't have picked up anything from the floor (his father had beaten him often for picking up things from the floor) but this shell shone in the sun, it sang and danced before his eyes. It was the most beautiful thing Babby Bobby had ever seen. All the way to school his hand would slip into his pocket to stroke the shell with the tips of his fingers. It made his whole body shake at the touch and he swore that this was his and no one else’s. All the pain and the loneliness and the loss would be forgotten as long as this shell was his. Inside the shell was pink as a kitten’s tongue and outside was run through with colours so bright and dazzling they couldn't...

...Ohayo Nii-san :D Soft light through a window. A shuffle beneath the sheets. A stifled yawn. Sasuke sat up slowly from where he lay on his bed, his vision still hazy from sleep. He yawned yet again as a pallid hand rose to meet his face, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He mumbled to himself incoherently as his bare feet met the cold, hard floor. Coal colored eyes rose to meet the small, hand drawn picture that he had made of himself and his family not two days ago, and his eyes flashed with realization. Today was his Aniki's birthday. As he thought, his sleepy pout slowly turned to a mischiveous grin. He quickly, but carefully, hopped down from his bed and made his way over to his door. Cracking it open ever-so-slightly, he peered into the hallway. Passageway clear. Tiptoeing into the hallway, he made his way to the door adjacent to his. Pausing to listen, he made sure that no one else was awake before placing his hand on the door. He slowly applied pressure, and was rewarded with a small gap to peek through. With one eye he scanned the room for his prey. His breathed hitched in his throat as he spotted a large lump on the bed located in the corner of the room. Target identified. His face once again broke out into a grin, this one wider than before. He waited a few moments before pushing the door open a little further. Squeak. He froze, heart beating frantically in his chest, and he was sure that the horrible pounding could be heard a mile away. As...

...Demonstration Topic: Handing Water Material: glass, paper, pin, water Procedures: 1. Make some holes on the paper 2. Fill the glass up of water 3. Hole the paper over the glass 4. Tip the glass over while still holding the paper 5. Remove the hand after a few seconds Questions and explanation: 1. Why will the paper stay at the same place after removing the hand? The paper doesn’t fall down because of the air pressure. When the glass is full of air at the same pressure, you have the amount of push downwards as upwards. They balance each other. With the glass full of water, when the water starts to move downwards, there is nothing to take its place. This produces an area of extremely low pressure. The higher on the outside is then plenty strong enough to keep the paper in place. 2. Why does not the water leak from the holes? Water does not lea from the holes, because the surface tension of the water, the water on the paper surface of the film-forming water, the water will not leak. Difficulty of the experiment: At the first time of the experiment, we made the holes too big, and the paper fell very soon. When tip the glass over, it’s not easy to use the paper to cover the top the glass, some water will leak from the edge of the glass. The construction paper is too thin and gets wet very soon. And the paper will fall down. We have to tip the glass over very quickly; otherwise, the paper will fall...
