Maintaining business operations wether it be offering a service or selling goods, it is critical to any organisation. Unless the business can carry out its day to day operations then they will potentially loose customers, clients and most of all profit? Not all businesses are on a large scale basis therefore small businesses won't always have the latest machinery and computers. ASDA have resources which are efficient to the employees which then enable the staff to provide a good service to the general public.
A main aspect of maintaining operations which then leads to the smooth running of ASDA is staffing. Staff are employed in ASDA if there is a vacancy available so that the branch has the correct amount of staff on role in each department for example(bakery, customer service desk, cleaners, supervisors) Human Resource Departments have to ensure that there are enough staff, with the correct skills and working to the best of their ability to ensure that all operations of the business are completed and up to date. Ensuring that all departments have sufficient staff can be tricky as to much staff could potentially damage the businesses profit and cost the business a great deal of money. Too little staff within a company can also cause so many problems as the overall workforce won't be producing top, quality products as there isn't that many staff members to contribute towards this. Staffing often changes due to the seasons, for example ASDA offer christmas temporary jobs every year to help the company get through the busy christmas period, ASDA offer 3000 seasonal jobs each year to help them get through the year. The human resource department would hire these people and offer the adequate training in order for hem to complete the job to the best of their ability. One of the main reasons why staff training is important is that the staff will become competent and they

They also have a very good reputation and are also a highly profitable business. They need to keep track as on their financial progress and situation. As well as this keeping organized and in a formal structure allows the company to run smoothly and without major problems. There are four main types of resources that need to be managed; physical resources, human resources, technological resources, and financial resources.
