I would at the very beginning sit down with the nurse and explain to her in a very professional manner that I am here to help her and her employees run the department more efficiently not to be in her face telling her what she is doing wrong. I would then have her show me around and have her give me any ideas she has that she believes would help her run her department in best way possible. First, I would delve into the reasons behind the increase of use in disposables. I would explain to the nurse that she cannot let her staff just waste the products. I explain to her that she needs to have a training session with her staff on proper use of these products as not to waster them because it is an additional cost that could reason in less money for raises and other needed supplies. Next, I would have to ask why there is so much of the products that are hardly ever used. I would explain that if it is on an auto-order system she should take it off and try to send some of the excess product back for credit, if that is possible. And the rush orders for frequently used products needs to stop and those items need to be added to an auto-order to prevent from running out in the future. Then, she and I would work on the storage area. We would go back and forth with different ideas to get it into a nice and orderly area so she and her employees can find the items they need in a quick manner when needed. After that we would then discuss the most proficient way to get the decontamination area working properly. I would ask what she thinks the area is lacking and then I would explain to her my theories. Lastly, we would together tackle the processing area. I would begin by telling her that the area is way too big. If she were to downsize it, it would run way more proficient. Together, we would work to make it run in a way that will show her
