Cartagena, Roland L. Florentino, Mikhael C. Medina, Alexandra Marie P. Peñaflorida, Andrea Raecristine F. G10 – Our Lady of the Assumption December 10, 2014 USED ENGINE OIL AS SIGN PEN INK COMPONENT 2 Abstract This research’s sole purpose is to find an ideal alternative for sign pen ink. Specifically, it aimed to experiment upon the concept of whether or not used engine oil (UEO) can be used as a suitable component for sign pen ink. In doing so, the researchers have conducted a test that makes use of varying amounts of two main ingredients, namely,UEO and pounded charcoal. Throughout the course of the experiment, three types of ink were produced with the compositions of: 70% UEO and 30% powdered charcoal (Ink A), 80% UEO and 20% powdered charcoal (Ink B), and lastly 100% UEO and no charcoal (Ink C). Ink A was recorded to have the highest tone quality and highest viscosity, which was proven through the chromatography test. Ink B was found to be second highest in terms of both tone quality and viscosity, while Ink C exhibited the lowest tone quality and lowest viscosity level. Tone quality was recorded by testing the pens for writing, and viscosity level...

Almanza Student ID: 000280685 Program & Start Date: M.B.A. Health Care Management; 10.02.2012 Western Governor’s University Running head: Competition Bikes, Financial Analysis A1. Costing Method The purpose of the following Executive Summary is to illustrate Competition Bikes Inc.’s need to alter our current costing method by utilizing the activity based costing (ABC) method. Traditional based costing (TBC) is a method a company may use to find the cost of a product in relation to the revenue it creates. It is used to designate manufacturing overhead to units made (Chron, 2013). Activity-based costing identifies activities that a company executes, then designates indirect costs to each product. The ABC determines the cost for each activity and allocates the cost to their respective activities. The cost assigned per activity is also assigned to respective products required for each activity. With traditional costing methods manufacturing costs are only assigned to goods that have been sold rather than accounting for nonmanufacturing costs. There are steps to activity-based costing: Identifying the cost of each activity and estimated the total cost and indirect cost Estimate the cost driver for each activity and the total quantity for each driver’s allocation base Calculate the cost appropriation per each activity Appropriate the cost to cost object Though the activity based costing consumes...

Proview Dispute Resolution Project Instructions & Preparation Aide This set of instructions is intended to (i) help you understand what is expected of your group and you for the dispute resolution assignment, (ii) more clearly explain how you and your group will be assessed for the dispute resolution assignment, and (iii) provide you with some practical tips to help you prepare. Assignment Scenario: A few years back, Apple and Proview had a legal dispute concerning the ownership of the “IPAD” trademark in China. There were multiple lawsuits, with Apple winning some and Proview winning others. In the end, they settled outside of court for a reported US$60,000,000. In this assignment we are going to pretend that Apple failed to pay the US$60 million to Proview, and that the two sides are going to arbitration in Hong Kong to settle the dispute once and for all. Your group will represent either Apple or Proview, and will prepare a “legal brief” for submission to the arbitration panel stating your side’s case, and providing legal research backing up your position. Instructions and Expectations a. Venue of the Case This dispute is going to take place as an arbitration in Hong Kong. Thus, the groups are to argue their sides as though you were arguing the case to a real arbitration panel. If you have any questions about what...

...#Ammendment E = σ / Ɛ not E = σ / 2Ɛ Problem 4 Nerve Cells Group Number: 2 Members: Eugene Clifford Sian Sweeney Matthew Kinsella Akin Goktas Introduction: In this report the mechanics and electrical theories of Nerve cells will be discussed. We will explore the way Nerve cells create and transmit electrical impulses and how a nerve cell membrane can be compared to a parallel plate capacitor. Topics such as Dielectrics, Capacitance and Permittivity will also be approached. In this problem we need to find the Electric Field intensity (E) within the membrane using surface charge density (σ). Find voltage (V) using E and the distance from plate to plate (d). Plot the relationship between σ and V on a graph and thus calculate Current (I) using this information and the area (A). For the purpose of this report the membrane faces will be referred to as “plate A” and “plate B”. Theory: A nerve cell membrane acts like a dielectric parallel plate capacitor, as it is water filled (dielectric material) and has two membrane faces (plate A & B). As seen in Figure 1 below. [pic] Figure 1: A dielectric parallel plate capacitor. [1] We portray charge lining up on the outer side of each face of the membrane just as on the plates of a capacitor [2]. As external forces cause the nerve cells to electrically transmit their messages, it is safe to assume that the impulses are triggered by a change in charge density, polarity, field...

...Comparative Studies Dominique Comparative Studies There are many forms of health care organizations, they are grouped by their financial structures, and sources of funding. The three types that exist in the United States are for-profit, non-profit, and government funded organizations. The financial resources and how profit is appropriated are different amongst all three types of organizations. Government Funded The most well-known government funded health care system is the Department of Veterans Affairs. This health care system is unique in that it was created specifically to treat American veterans of the US military, whereas for-profit and non-profit organizations must treat every patient regardless of status, or ability to pay. A person who served in the active military, naval, or air service and who was discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable may qualify for VA health care benefits ("Office of Public and Intergovernmental Affairs", 2014). Many diseases and permanent disabilities or service-connected disabilities, US veterans suffer from were acquired serving in wars both past and present while serving this country. It is the governments’ intention to help treat those who so bravely laid their life on the line to serve and protect this country. On that note, most military are eligible to be treated within this health care system for little to no cost, with very few not meeting eligibility requirements. There are still however financial...

...will also push for political globalization. I end up concluding that although difficult political globalization is feasible and if taken into account all the factors I mention it will inevitably happen. Submitted to Professor Miguel Homem Ferreira of Tutorial Class TAB29 on 19/03/2015 10 years ago in China Yan Xuetong gave a lecture about globalization to a group of college sophomores for about 3 hours. At the end, before he took questions, he asked to the group of students: “What does globalization mean”? Someone answered "free trade". He laughed, saying that was the typical American answer. He then proceeded to explain that what globalization really means is “world government”. In this essay I won’t try to discuss economics vs politics, but rather reflect on how to conjugate them in order to manage globalization and to explain what Xuetong meant with his answer to those students. Returning to the introductory question I think it’s important to understand why did that student answer that globalization means free trade. Well, in essence,...

...HMA1: Trends in Healthcare Western Governors University Healthcare Management Case Study HMA1 Linda Gunn August 21, 2010 HMA1: Trends in Healthcare The American healthcare system is in the midst of change. No other time in history has the call for healthcare reform been so strong. It is the emergence of expensive new technologies with an aging population and a new call for equitable quality access of health services for all citizens that have pushed for the impending change. Successful managers will need to understand the impetus for this change. The challenges will provide many opportunities for a manager that is properly prepared to lead and guide their organization. Model trends in the United States. Historically, the United State’s healthcare system has been provider dominated. Physicians ordered and directed care without concern for cost or resources. While complex and ever-changing, the focus was on treatment of infectious diseases such as polio, influenza, small pox. (Shortell & Kaluzny, 2006) Our current model of healthcare places much of the responsibility and burden of the cost of medical care on the individual. American healthcare spending approaches 17% of our gross domestic product (GDP), the highest of any member of the World Health Organization. Our performance consistently underperforms in comparison to our peer nations in such measures as life expectancy, infant mortality and overall level of health.
