Years later my parents got divorced and my dad remarried and my dream came too. I got a horse from my step mom and my dad, I always loved horses and always wanted one. My step mom and my dad live on a farm and i got to come over every other weekend, and learn to ride and it changed my life. The experience of horses has influenced my life by many different ways. ...to say that riding a horse is not a sport. They say that all you do is just sit there and that is completely untrue. “You just sit there.” is the most ridiculous thing to say, I can tell you that it is one of the hardest sports out there. Riding horses is one, if not the most dangerous sports out there. Other athletes play with objects that are filled with air, and I ride a thousand pound animal that could kill me in an instant. Every time someone...

...An influence on my life is my older friend Debra Coats. I have known Debbie about seven years. She is the most caring and selfless person I know. She will rip her own shirt off and give it to someone who needs it worse than her. I first met Debbie when me and my friend Paulette was needing a horse trailer to use and someone went and suggested we ask her. We used her trailer twice and the second time we used it, a rock rolled off a hill and we ran over it and done damage to the trailer. When Paulette finally got the courage up to text her what had happened all the said was, is the horse OK? After that we meet at a couple shows and talked a little. Then she asked me would come out to her farm and ride her older horse. I couldn't resist the chance...

...this question since I have become a writer for a WeChat official account about equestrian. In the end of my first published article, I expressed that I would be blissful to hear and answer readers’ questions. As a result, I decided to share my own experience of joining a show-jumping competition with him. If I am planning to join a show-jumping competition, the first step for me will be checking the time schedule. Although this step seems to be trivial, but in fact it is the quintessence of the entire process. By checking the schedule, I will be able to arrange my time properly. For example, I can decide when I am going to warm up with my horse. If I don’t check the schedule carefully, I may warm up with him too early and when it comes to my turn, the efficacy of warming up has already vanished. Therefore, I...

...performance of horse and rider will change when using a mantra. This study is being performed because I believe mantras are necessary throughout life and this study will help to prove or disprove this. There will be 100 random horse riders at level 2 showjumping, completing a 12 jump course in a indoor arena. They will be placed in two groups according to them using a mantra or not(50 in each). A stop watch will be used to assess the independent design groups and then they will be ranked in order of time. Overall the findings showed that the use of a mantra greatly increases performance because there was 26 more riders that completed the course in under a minute in the mantra group. Overall I believe this study will help improve people's performance throughout life with the use of mantras. I also believe this study is very reliable because there is a major increase in performance and there are also other studies that support the use of mantras. Hypothesis/aim: I will be investigating the effects on performance in horse riders when using a mantra or not. The independent variable is the mantra and the dependant variable is performance of the rider Null hypothesis: there will be no significant difference in the performance of the riders when using a mantra. Any difference will be due to chance. Experimental hypothesis:. Riders will perform significantly better when using a mantra. I chose this experiment because I believe it is important to have a mantra throughout life and I was curious...

...a sec can be the difference between winning first or second…. Every decision can be the difference between winning and losing. Since horses are animals and not machines it can be a challenging task to pick the perfect prospect. But there are some guidelines that can be followed to help with the daunting decision.. Everyone has their criteria rather it be Pedigree, conformation color past performers and those things help but I feel that sometimes we get stuck on one certain trait and a lot of good horses are overlooked or you choose one based on pedigree and it doesn’t live up to the pedigree. Or you choose because of good looks and everyone likes to ride a good-looking horse and since we only saw the good looks we might miss the fact that they don’t have the disposition to make a good barrel horse. We need to keep our emotions out of the process of choosing and look at the horse as a whole strong points and flaws as well most horses have flaws you just have to ask yourself if it’s a flaw you can live with. Sometimes the strengths or flaws won’t show up until you’re on the road and really competing. And then you might discover that your horse has the heart and grit that the great horses posses That winning determination. Or you might get one that just doesn’t like running barrels. And sometimes it’s in the best interest of the horse and rider to part ways find a job they can do and that they like. No matter if they have the perfect pedigree, conformation, even disposition...

...Soaking the sun into my every pore I opened my eyes to gaze up at the trees of the forest reaching up into the sky. The trees stretching almost as if they were trying to pierce the blanket of the sky. I listening to the sounds of the tree branches swaying against the wind, the occasional animal rustling in the bushes, and the sounds of hooves beating against the trail. I lay their stretched out along the back of my horse. Feeling the rhythmic sway of his hips lulling me to a light sleep. My legs hanging on either sides of his neck, my shoulder and head resting against the top of his rump. All proper etiquette long forgotten, only focusing on the sounds of the forest, the rhythm of my horse, and the feeling of the suns warmth on my skin. I lay...

...You can feel the wind run through your hair, as you see the world speed past you in a blur of color. You become one with the creature underneath you, you can feel the power of the horse as he is running full speed through the open green field. You have not a care in the world, it's just you and the horse. You have a sense of connection with the large animal, even though you are completely different. This is why I love to ride horse, although you might not always be running. Even when you're not running at top speed you have a connection with your horse, it's a connection that no one can describe. It's a feeling of friendship, a feeling of freedom. When on top of a horse I don't care about anything, riding relieves all my stress. Riding...

...riders from purposely making their horse's legs tender so they would jump more carefully. However, the rules acknowledge that injury and infection can also produce heat. Foster said her horse Victor had a nick in the coronary band immediately above the hoof that was "like a paper cut". International Federation of Equestrian Sports (FEI) President Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein of Jordan emphasised that Foster's disqualification was not the result of any suspected cheating. "I do want to be very clear with you all that there is absolutely no accusation of malpractice here," the former show jumper told a news conference held to discuss the decision. "As a former competitor, I just totally empathise with what Tiffany is going through ... It's absolutely crushing for her to experience this in her first Olympics." Foster shook with sobs throughout the briefing, comforted by visibly angry team captain and defending individual Olympic champion Eric Lamaze. "I just want to say that I would never do anything to jeopardise the welfare of my horse and what happened today was obviously very disappointing and devastating to me," Foster said in a broken voice. "I feel really bad for my team and really disappointed that this is the way my first Olympic Games are going to end." Lamaze, whose gold medal horse Hickstead collapsed and died at a World Cup event in Verona last year, said it was time to take a hard look at the FEI's rules on hypersensitivity. "This is a complete miscarriage of...

I got up out of my warm bed and got into the shower, my mind filled with thoughts about what is going to happen. I got ready to go, then we were on the way. I couldn’t wait to see what this exciting day would consist of. I rode with my sister to the the little town of Volga, Iowa. We had a heavy trailer attached to our back end. My sister’s horse, Buddy, was in the trailer because she was planning on trading him for another horse. It was a long, bumpy ride. Every stop sign you could feel the heavy trailer tug behind us. You could feel the car wobble as the horse would move. We finally arrived at the amazing Katy’s Corral. The first thing I saw was a beautiful brown horse. He was built nice, tall, and had a good personality. I knew I would love to own that horse from the start. You could smell the aroma of horse and their odor. I loved that smell. There were...

Seabiscuit was the baby of a horse named Swing On. When he was born, he was extremely small, and very ugly, but many thought he had the smarts. The place in which Seabiscuit grew up had absolutely no interest in training him. He is then...
