That bubbly girl who loved to smile, she wasn't soft nor was she cold hearted BUT Touch me now and shiver from my icy layers. Stab me now but I promise it won't hurt, Leave me now and I can say I thought you were already gone. I Look at me, and see who I never wanted to be A pessimistic, soon to break down blob of useless anger A depressed person with suppressed feelings that nobody seems to want to listen to. Everybody claims to hear but who truly listens Everybody looks but not everybody sees Everyone seems to assumes but nobody truly knows The depth of pain of another person, nobody can truly phathom. To pray that everytime you overdose on pills you don't wake up, but you know you will because you still don't have the courage to swallow that vodka on top. Not yet I'm not ready to face Him yet I'm not ready to face my judgement, to be damned for all my wrong doings. Maybe I feel that I still have a chance, that someone out there wants to listen to whats on my mind. Someone wants to dim my anger without judging how sadistic I can be sometimes. Because I'm way too young to have been betrayed too many times. I'm way too young to feel like, my world should be ending, To feel like there's no way I can get through this stage of my life I'm way too broken to try to forgive and I'm way too proud to say that I'm sorry I'm way...

...Still in the Gilded Age There are many things in life that appear attractive on the outside, but turn out to be quite the opposite on the inside. The forgotten fruit that was left to rot on the kitchen counter, the empty promises of a government body, the two-faced colleague at work… there are many of examples of beauty being only skin deep. Theodore Roethke’s “My Papa’s Waltz” and Emily Dickinson’s “I’m Nobody! Who are you?” explores this theme of the gilded side of humanity. Roethke opens “My Papa’s Waltz” through the eyes of a small boy, lending an initial tone of naivety and innocence. This mood is reinforced through his use of rhyme scheme, which adds to the childish effect. However, this feeling is quickly subverted, as a more sinister interpretation can be seen midway through the poem. The boy describes, “The hand that held my wrist/Was battered on one knuckle;/At every step you missed/My right ear scraped a buckle.” (9-13), leading the reader to question what the actual meaning behind this “waltz” is. The minor mentioning of the unhappy mother, as well as the phrase, “But I hung on like death:” (3) is suddenly relevant; it suggests that the father may be an abusive alcoholic, deviating from the prior assumption that he was simply a happy drunk spending time with his son. This shift in reader interpretation can also be attributed to Roethke’s unique word choice. Take for example the word “waltz,” which is used exclusively in the beginning and ending stanzas...

...factors like age and gender. “Judging a person does not define who they are, it defines who you are.” In “Of Mice and Men” by John Steinbeck, many characters are faced with loneliness and are discriminated in different ways. Discrimination causes loneliness as shown through Steinbeck’s use of the characters Crooks, Curley’s wife and Candy. Crooks deals with loneliness throughout the novel since he is discriminated for his skin tone. Crooks demonstrates how discrimination affects his personality. The quote “Cause I’m black. They play cards in there, but I can’t play because I’m black. They say I stink. Well, I tell you all of you stink to me.” (67). This quote shows that Crooks gets discriminated because he is black. He is treated on the farm like he does not matter. Also, he always hangs out in his room because nobody will ever talk to him which proves that he is lonely. Another quote that...

...said to them, n“Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. 20 oFor we cannot but speak the things which pwe have seen and heard.” You judge for yourselves whether it’s right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God, but we can’t help speaking about what we have seen and what we have heard. For the time that we have to share today, I want to talk on the subject Can I get a Witness? Can I get a witness? It is obvious from your response, that from the announcement of that statement, that you have heard that question before. If you have been in church for about 3 and half days you probably have had that question raised before in some worship experience. For without doubt preachers across the country stand in pulpits over and over again, time and time again and ask this question in the midst of their proclamation and presentation, Can I get a witness? It is when that interrogative is raised that the proclaimer is wondering if the congregation to whom he or she is speaking is in tune and in touch with the message that is being conveyed. Every now and then if the congregation seems to get a little too quiet in church, if they seem a little too disconnected from the message, the messenger would pause parenthetically and ask the question can I get a witness. It is when that question is raised that someone is supposed to affirm and attest the truth of God’s word. And you do know that we belong to the call and response tradition, that when...

...A Person Who Made An Impacted On My Life The person who made an impact on my life is my son. Emmanuel is the reason that my life is what it is now. If it wasn’t for him I would be somewhere doing the wrong things. Since Emmanuel is only two, he doesn’t understand the impact that he made on my life, but my family. My mother Melba Peterson and my two older brothers TraeVon McKinney and Michael Peterson, do know understand how Emmanuel made the huge significtly impacted on my life. My mother Melba can tell you a whole story about my life, but the most thing she likes to talk about is me growing up and becoming a respectful young lady by bringing my pride and joy Emmanuel in to world; he changed my life to give him a better future. My mother would tell all her friends about Emmanuel and how special he is to her. Her favorite story is the day Emmanuel was born. For some odd reason my mother and Emmanuel became real close after he was born. I asked my mother how Emmanuel made an impact on my life. My mother responded by saying, she don’t know how I graduated high school when I barely went before I had Emmanuel, but after I had him she made sure I went every day. My mother also talks about how I use to run the streets, get into fights with anybody, getting arrested more than 10 times and doing things that a girl my age at the time shouldn’t been doing. She would always want me to do well but I never did. She says when Emmanuel came into my life my behavior started to improve; I...

...hours a day...60 minutes an hour...but only one like you in a lifetime. There are two reasons why I wake up in the morning: my alarm clock and you. Great minds contain ideas, solutions and reasons; scientific minds contain formulas, theories and figures; my mind contains only you! Love can be expressed in many ways. One way I know is to send it across the distance to the person who is reading this. If I could change the alphabet, I would put U and I together! Minsan caring is better than loving. Minsan tea is better than coffee. Minsan smile is better than laughter. Pero nobody is better than you. There is night so we can appreciate day, sorrow so we can appreciate joy, evil so we can appreciate good, you so I can appreciate love. You look great today. How did I know? Because you look great everyday. What is love? Those who don't like it call it responsibility. Those who play with it call it a game. Those who don't have it call it a dream. Those who understand it call it destiny. And me, I call it you. What is love? It is what makes your cell phone ring every time I send text messages. If love can be avoided by simply closing our eyes, then I wouldn't blink at all for I don't want to let a second pass having fallen out of love with you. I used to think that dreams do not come true, but this quickly changed the moment I laid my eyes on you. Press down if you miss me. Talaga? Sweet mo naman. You really miss me huh? ...Day Imagine waking up to beautiful mornings everyday only to dread it. To wish you never woke up, but stayed in the world you created. The world where nobody called you a different name, where they didn’t pick on you, where you made the rules and where you felt safe. Why didn’t you feel safe awake? Why couldn’t you be free? Bernard Kelvin Clive once said, “Your mind can be either your prison or your palace. What you make it is yours to decide.” My mind is both. I can be free, but when I think of the things they said it makes me feel like “I’m the background noise of a soundtrack stuck on repeat” (Shane Koyczan). Remember that one kid you saw on the playground. The one you saw in the corner by themselves, the one who had no one to laugh, play, or talk too. I was that one kid. I was the kid who was an outsider, the one who didn’t belong to any clique, and definitely the one who had no friends. I was alone. I was surrounded by those who would say “sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” As if those broken bones hurt more than the words we were called. We were told them all so we grew up believing we will be nothing. Nobody will ever fall in love with us or that we’d be lonely forever. “So broken heart strings bled the blues as we tried to empty ourselves so we would feel nothing. Don’t tell me that hurts less than a broken bone. It does” (Shane Koyczan). Nobody knew how I felt like I was lost in a dark abyss with no escape. The anguish, the pain...

...she doesn't know if Mykelti is ready to get married. The entire family acted differently with Maddie Brown announced that she was getting married to Caleb Brush. Mykelti Brown is just 19 and is getting married to Antonio Padron, who is 22. These two have been dating for less than a year but say that they are the perfect match. Tony hasn't even been on the show at all yet, so fans don't know who he is at all. In a clip from this week's Sister Wives, Christine Brown admits that she isn't sure if her daughter is ready to tie the knot. "I don't even know Tony. Mykelti's just so young ... I didn't imagine growing up so fast, because marriage is a huge, grownup step. I'm like, 'You're a baby.'" Christine Brown goes on to explain that Kody was totally shocked to hear about the engagement. Mykelti had shared that her boyfriend had plans to ask her dad before asking for her hand in marriage. He must have said yes, but it doesn't sound like Kody is overly excited about it all. Christine went on to explain. "I didn't know they were that much of a couple. I...

...defense. This shocked and stunned the media who predicted that he would not testify in the brutal double murder trial. A. Wolf is accused of killing (and eating) The First Little Pig, and The Second Little Pig. This criminal trial is expected to be followed by a civil trial to be brought by the surviving Third Little Pig. The case has been characterized as a media circus. His testimony is transcribed below: "Everybody knows the story of the Three Little Pigs. Or at least they think they do. But I'll let you in on a little secret. Nobody knows the real story, because nobody has ever heard my side of the story. I'm Alexander T. Wolf. You can call me Al. I don't know how this whole Big Bad Wolf thing got started, but it's all wrong. Maybe it's because of our diet. Hey, it's not my fault wolves eat cute little animals like bunnies and sheep and pigs. That's just the way we are. If cheeseburgers were cute, folks would probably think you were Big and Bad too. But like I was saying, the whole big bad wolf thing is all wrong. The real story is about a sneeze and a cup of sugar. THIS IS THE REAL STORY. Way back in Once Upon a Time time, I was making a birthday cake for my dear old granny. I had a terrible sneezing cold. I ran out of sugar. So I walked down the street to ask my neighbor for a cup of sugar. Now this neighbor was a pig. And he wasn't too bright either. He had built his whole house out of straw. Can you believe it? I mean who in his right mind would build a house of...

...“One thing we mustn't think is that compassion makes you miserable. Compassion makes you happy. The first person who is happy when you get great compassion is yourself, even if you haven't done anything yet for anybody else”(Thurman 1). Robert Thurman is an internationally recognized scholar, translator and author, and the first Westerner to be ordained by the Dalai Lama as a Tibetan Buddhist monk (Thurman, 440). He is one of the most distinguished Tibetanists in the world. In his short essay, “Wisdom” taken from Infinite Life Thurman explains the Buddhist concept of selflessness. He says the purpose of realizing your own selflessness is not to feel like you are nobody, but rather to become enlightened. “After he became enlightened, the Buddha did not sit under a tree drooling, and saying ‘Oh wow! I’m nobody!’ Think about it: If he just became nobody, if he escaped from the world through self-obliteration, then he wouldn’t have been able to share so many teachings here on earth, to work for the good of all beings for years and years, long after he achieved nirvana. He would’ve just stayed in his nobody state and forgotten about all of us poor humans busy suffering through our miserable lives (Thurman 442).” In this quote, Thurman explains that selflessness does not mean that we are nobody and cease to exist, that there is no way you can ever not exist, just as you cannot become nothing. There is no way to become nobody;...

She has been through rough times in her life but who hasn’t been? It’s just a part of life. This is a horrible reason for finding Elizabeth Proctor guilty of witchcraft. Elizabeth Proctor is a super religious woman, owns a bible, and has memorized the Ten Commandments. Would a witch regularly attend mass, own a bible, and listen to the Ten Commandments? She was disappointed but not too upset with her husband John Proctor after he committed the act of adultery against her with Abigail Williams. I will get to her later. She still didn’t scream...
