Executive Summary

This proposal aims to indicate why the integration of lockers on campus proves to be a wise investment that shall benefit not only the students, but also the university as a whole.
By taking this step towards improvement, we can create an environment in which our students can easily access their personal belongings, therefore facilitate the learning process, create a safer environment and decrease theft.

Organizational Capacity

As Logistics students we clearly understand the importance of having the resources when and where needed, otherwise the production process can't function properly. So is the case with education - education is a process, an ongoing process in which we turn from ''work in progress" to highly skilled, ambitious "finished goods" ready to go onto the labor market. But in order for this process to run smoothly - we require access to our resources - in this case textbooks, notebooks, calculators - and need all these resources to be available on time for lectures.
By making this investment and giving us our small warehouses (our own private locker), you provide us with the accessibility and motivation needed for us to continue our learning experience and reach the goal that we,as students share
- become tomorrow's leaders.

This investment will also help the university in getting closer to achieving one of its strategic goals - improving infrastructure, by focusing on a specific objective - "Establish, enhance and improve facilities and capacity to operate more effectively" .

Therefore, it is evident, that lockers do contribute to reaching this objective, so it is our responsibility, not only as students, but as stakeholders to help our university " become one of the region’s leading universities highly regarded for its learning and teaching excellence."

We share one common goal - wanting to be leaders - so once we have unified our goals with our "parent organization", now the next step is the implementation.
So, let's start today, let's help in creating this leading institute foster and grow further.

Situation Analysis

The major reason why the university should invest in lockers is mainly for security reasons. We have many reported cases of theft - mobile phones, electronic devices, even cars. Lockers might resolve some of these issues.

Second, as the university is growing in size, so are the distances between different lectures. Students forget their books everyday in their cars or classrooms and have to walk long distances to get them, which results in waste of academic time, disturbance of lectures and sometimes leads to the student being late and therefore being deprived from certain courses.

Third, the more courses a student registers - the more books he/she has to carry everyday, therefore this increases the weight we have to carry on daily base, sometimes resulting in back pain, as well as strain on the shoulders.

And, fourth with the constantly changing and unpredictable weather conditions in Madaba, sometimes we witness for example that many of our students aren't wearing jackets, simply due to the fact that the weather in Amman was quite different.
Considering the fact that many of us spend their entire days on campus, we don't get the chance to go home and come back wearing appropriate clothing. So one resolution would be to have a spare jacket, safely stored in your own locker, just in case.

Project Objectives

- To make books and other learning materials accessible and within reach.
This will save students time and reduce the well-known "I forgot my homework in the car" excuse.
Positioning lockers at a location that allows fast pick up.

- Provide students with security.
Having a locker, will help in deceasing theft rates. As well as providing a sense of privacy, students will feel more at home, which might result in increase in motivational levels.
Having special locks and making students pay an insurance fee, that in case of theft, the university will pay the student a given amount of money. That amount will be unified and students wanting to have lockers will have to pay the insurance fee, that will be refundable, only in case of theft.

- Keep electronic devices out of classrooms.
We all know how extremely annoying it can be when mobile phones keep ringing during lecture time. Lockers might help in resolving this.
For example: the university can adopt a policy in which it is forbidden to enter the classroom with a mobile phone. All mobile phones should be kept in the lockers during lecture time.

- Provide students with practicality and flexibility to changing weather conditions
As the day progresses, the weather becomes warm, minimizing the need to carry a heavy jacket all day. A great solution to this would be to just leave your jacket in the locker and never have to worry that you might forget it somewhere.
It's a good idea to have spare jacket, or T-shirt just in case. You never know what the weather might get like or who might spill coffee over your shirt before an important presentation.

Solve a Problem

...think of areas that may need a little improving.  The second stage is to express the problem or issue.  Perhaps writing out different thought patterns and coming up with an idea that best match the correct or needed result can stimulate progress in the process.  The third stage in the creative process is investigating the problem or issue. If you encountered a specific problem or issue that you couldn’t resolve, you may need to ask someone with more experience or research the issue to reach an adequate solution. Producing ideas is the fourth and final stage. One must make a precise decision to determine which ideal concept they will take.  In this stage there lie two obstacles.  While trying to produce ideas one must fight the urge to limit your ideas.  The other obstacle is not settling on the first idea that comes to mind and to try harder to come up with something different. Some may think their first thought is also the best result, but you should challenge yourself to think past your first thought to chime into your creative nature. A personal challenge for me was going back to school. I had to think of all the different obstacles going back to school would pose on my normal day to day routine. Returning to school would interfere with my work schedule, not having time to cook dinner, and causing conflict with my spare time. Then, I realized that there are other ways to attend school and not just going to a standard university campus. I weighed my options by writing out...

Racism

...fact that people insist on being identified with a country where the last known ancestor left one hundred fifty years ago speaks volumes of America's 'melting pot'. It is only logical that this behavior has manifested itself on todays college campuses. There is little doubt that racial hostilities are increasing for college students (Baraka 28). The underlying question is what can be done to solve racism on campus? It is first necessary to comprehend the causes and effects of racism on campus, and draw resolutions from that. There are many causes of racism on college campuses. For example, it is common to see white students engaging in conversations about minority groups on campus. It is in these groups, social or academic, that students have the power to express and persuasively communicate and reflect their own opinions and attitudes to other impressionable students. This is a prime example of how prejudice becomes shared and may form the basis of ethnic or racial discrimination during group interaction (Froman 521). In addition, racial conflicts on campus may be caused from a student's fear and derive from the defense of one's individual security. As a student develops their need for securing their identity, this need may feed ethnic hostility and prejudice. The search for identity might involve, as a detour, the desire to identify, or to strengthen it through being prejudice (Bettelheim...

...Kyle Esber Jordan Betenson Kristin Romanowski Secondary data research Our group believes that putting Redbox kiosks on Kent States campus would have incredible success. The data we are starting to put together involves Secondary data that we have begun to conduct. Secondary Data can be defined as “information that has previously been gathered by someone other than the researcher and/or for some other purpose than the research project at hand”. Our group has already conducted studies and began our own primary data, but having said that, Secondary data is key in proving that Redbox kiosks will be very popular to Kent’s student body. Internal secondary data by Redbox shows that they prefer to only put these kiosks on campuses with at least 15,000 students, says Liana Solis, who has personally attempted the movement of Kiosks on the campus. Obviously Kent State would be perfect for this with an estimated body of 28,000, which nearly doubles the prerequisite of students. Gathering Secondary data for the Redbox kiosks would have several advantages. After we send out our personally made survey, we will continue to use the resources already created and base what we do off that. One advantage of secondary data gathering is how inexpensive and readily available it is. Another advantage is how quick it can be found. The information has already been done, so it’s already there when you look for it. We have found that Redbox would be very popular through online sources (primary...

Rural Community Presentation

...Rural Community Presentation Assessment of a community is essential for planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs to improve the health of a population. Our windshield survey provided an informal means of evaluating the community of Grambling, Louisiana. By understanding the essential functions of the community one is allowed to better identify potential needs. My perception of the goals was to “Improve health-related quality of life and well-being for all individuals.” (HealthyPeople.gov). It is noted that people are living longer and promoting well-being emphasizes a person’s physical, mental, and social resources and enhances protective factors and conditions that foster health. One of the objectives that are associated with this goal according to Healthy People 2020 is: “Increase the proportion of adults who self-report good or better physical health.” (HealthyPeople.gov). The second goal to consider is,”Improve access to comprehensive, quality health care services.” (HealthyPeople.gov). An objective for this goal is, “(Developmental) Increase the proportion of persons who receive appropriate evidence-based clinical preventive services.” (HealthyPeople.gov). Both of these goals and objectives are important as the family nurse practitioner is in an excellent position to be an educator of issues relative to the patient’s health. In addition the nurse practitioner is in the position to promote screening and preventative services. The nurse practitioner also must...

...remained at the top of the list every year for a variety of reasons. This list of threats is also unique to college campuses. I will discuss each of the threats in this report. College students love new technology and each year smaller and more powerful devices are hitting the market. Students on the campus have a variety of devices ranging from cell phones, tablets, and laptops. These devices connect to the campus network and are used by students to check email, class schedules, get grades, and many other uses. The challenge is to allow these devices the necessary access and still have a secure network. Each device has to be checked for viruses, spyware, and other types of malware while still maintaining the C-I-A triad. A balance must be found between usability and security. Each time a remote device is connected to the network there is a possibility that the network can be compromised by one these devices. Every device should be authenticated, scanned, and identified. The use of social media has increased in recent years. Students and teachers both use things like Facebook, Myspace, and others. These applications have the potential to transmit malware every time they are used on the campus network. Malware can be embedded in everything from videos to comments. Every time a student or teacher clicks on a video viruses, keystroke loggers, or worms can be installed and start destroying or intercepting data. The infected devices must be identified quickly and the malware removed while...

Campus Speech Code

...Course Date Ch. 4 Question. Do campus speech codes violate student’s right? A speech code in any higher learning institution is a rule or policy that bans expression that would be safe in the community at large. Any rule like pestering policy, a demonstration and protest policy, or an IT standard use policy can be used as a speech code if it bans protected communication or manifestation. Several speech programs impermissibly prevents speech on the base of content and/or perspective. Lately, a decent fear about speaking and sensual actions in learning institutions has reached a climax. Universities have braced guidelines keeping out unpleasant speech naturally directed at ethnic, tribal, and sexual subgroups; engaged it upon themselves by giving trigger cautioning to scholars when courses offered contains contents that might dismay them; excluded sexual actions that may led to rapping cases. In criminal act but are on the unclear condition of force; and limited due process defenses of scholars suspected of violating these instructions. Most of the discussion about language codes, which often ban scholars from making invasive remarks to one another, is much concerned of speech outside of classroom. Two facts should be made while arguing about speech codes amongst campus students. First, pupils who are doomed with the codes and morals on learning institution can take their views to scenes outside of campus to the metropolis near their campus, for example. Second, and most significant...

When I am addressing the term “satisfy” I mean in what ways of precaution does the university up hold to make them feel at ease throughout the day, the feeling of no fear against any man or woman, what type of protection is the university giving to the students. My second term is discussing the “needs” of students and by this I mean what are the different ways the campus is has provided to students such as posters, emails and safety tips on the bulletin board. The last term is “safety” and by this I mean through protection by security guards, increasing more cameras in less dense areas, or areas with low light during the evening hours. The reason why I chose this research topic is because students and I are noticing lack of security on campus throughout the day and decrease of actions to amplify safety tips or actions towards the students. As crime increases on the York University campus, I would be interested of knowing and understanding where these events are taking place and determining what the solutions or outcome. I have been at this wonderful University for three years now and notice more security presence now then there...

Article Review

...The overall purpose of the article is to gain a better understanding behind the attitudes and personal opinions of having a smoke-free campus. It continues to go into more specific depth regarding a smoke-free campus such as the most effective way to initiate and retain a smoke-free campus. Within this pool of knowledge, it will show some of the main reasoning behind why people that smoke want to keep a campus from becoming smoke-free and will also show people urges behind wanting a campus to become smoke-free. This will give two fully biased views from both complete opposites (a smoke-free campus versus a smoking campus.) Some of the bigger issues that Cho and DeVaney wanted to evaluate the motives behind the college students. This includes the variety of thinking and learning methods, reasons behind their actions, and meanings that give the students their urges towards these actions. By doing so, it will assist in understanding the motives, attitudes, and urges on a deeper level by evaluating “why” they want what they want, and “why” they did what they did. Another issue that the authors wanted to acknowledge is the college students’ reactions as well as their actions. They wanted to understand how the students would react to a change in the smoking policy at their college and what they would do to fix it if they did not like it or how they would help enforce the policy if they did like it. Cho and DeVaney conducted their research in two types of methods: field observation...
