...it’s the “Apocalypse”. In our times, we get more than our share of talk about the apocalypse. An apocalypse is a revelation, an unveiling or unfolding of things not previously known and which could not be known apart from the unveiling (wikipedia.org). This means that no one could possibly know when this event will occur. Still, for thousands of years people have tried to predict when and how the world will end. From where do all these apocalyptic prophecies originate? Are we the victims of the hidden agendas of the media and secret societies? Are modern interpretations of ancient Mayan calendars and prophecies accurate; and do these prophecies predict the end of the world in 2012? And what has NASA said about all of this? When it comes to apocalyptic or “end of the world” prophecies it doesn’t matter. “End of the world” prophecies are ridiculous. We can’t rely on people, books, internet sites or movies to tell us an exact date because it is clearly something of the unknown? People are using prophets for profits! Apocalyptic prophecies derive from the stories told about the death of Jesus Christ and his ascension from the grave. It was said that He would one day return. The first written stories about His return are told in the Bible and are often referred to as the “apocalypse” or the “great reveal”. But even the apocalyptic prophecies of the Bible, have been altered during translation, and they are inaccurate to some degree. These stories have an astonishing amount of different...

...which, if started on judgement day, would end on October 7, 2015 (Why October ebiblefellowship.com part 4 1). Proving this idea wrong is done by simply stating this: God said that no one will know the day or the hour for when the end of the world. That statement alone proves every end of the world theory wrong. To further this, judgement day does not happen on the earth, judgement day happens in Heaven. Every saved person is taken off of the earth away from pain and death and enters into the gates of Heaven. The number of deaths on May 21, 2011, also known as “judgement day”, no more significant than any other day. Therefor proving that judgement day did not happen in 2011, and that the prediction of October 7, would also be extremely inaccurate (Why October ebiblefellowship.com part 1 1-3). In conclusion, no man can predict the end of the world. No one knows when the world will end or when judgement day will occur. God is the only one who knows when either will occur, not even His Son, The Lord, knows the day or the hour of the end times. The only thing that people can do to for the end of the world is be ready when The Heavenly Father comes to get the saved...

...Charles Darwin was heavily opposed to the creationism theory. He openly campaigned to discredit the bible. In his autobiography, Darwin stated “he had begun to see the Old Testament from its manifestly false history of the world, with the Tower of Babel, the rainbow as a sign, etc., etc., and from its attributing to God the feelings of a revengeful tyrant, was no more to be trusted than the sacred books of the Hindoos, or the beliefs of any barbarian.” I personally wouldn’t describe the theory of creationism that way, but an intelligent thinking person could take some issues with it. How does one argue in support of creationism when there absolutely zero tangible proof? The only response from religious believers is to lean on their faith. A faith that asked them to trust and worship an unknown, unseen God of love and mercy. Darwin argued that this faith is misguided and misplaced. Darwin attacked the miracles in Christianity as well. He argued that the more we learn about physical laws of nature, the more unbelievable they become. He would further argue that the Gospels cannot be proved have been written simultaneously with events, thus important details could be inaccurate. This particular line of thought could have some merit. Any reasonable thinking person can’t dispute how information gets “twisted” or lost in translation when being told and retold person to person. Better still, take a look at the recent situation in Ferguson with the death of Mike Brown. There are...

...and discussion. • Recognise truth in sacred scripture. Scientific: People who wrote the bible had little knowledge about science, like they thought the world was flat. Biblical account of how the world was created differs from the scientific version. Writers were concerned with religious truth not science. When looking behind the inaccurate scientific theories you find it expresses a truth about God, people and their relationship. Historical: The bible contains some historical truth, but the information is not like the recounts in textbooks. The stories from the bible were passed on by generations, they were told so the listener heard the religious truth, not necessarily the facts. The gospels are reliable historical records, but they are presented in different ways. It is religious history, not accurate recounts of dates and events. The Bible is not to be read as a history book. Symbolic: The religious truth in the bible is told in symbols. We have to read behind the symbols to find the meaning. Example eve and the talking snake, it’s not that a snake could talk but a symbol for the devil trying to worm its way into the human heart. The garden is a symbol for all that God gives us. The symbolic meaning behind this story is about the struggle of good and evil in a person that tempts them to sin. Proverbial: found in the Old Testament, it is everyday wisdom and advice about life that is...

...Introduction Helping others is one of the most important aspects in life today. There are many different ways, and different forms of helping people. Helping others could make another person feel better either inside, or about them self. ‘Helping’ is one of those taken for granted words. It is a familiar part of our vocabulary. Traditionally, for example, social workers, youth workers and support workers, guidance counsellors and psychologist have been talked about as members of the helping professions. The question, do you need some help? Should be part of our daily business as informal and formal educators and guidance counsellors. Yet what we mean by ‘helping’ is not that obvious and the qualities we look for in ‘helping relationships’ need some thinking about. Here we try to clear away some of the confusion. What do we mean by helping? For many people within the social professions, such as social work, counsellors, community workers and psychologist. The notion of helping is tied up with counselling and guidance. Many students such as myself major in psychology and or guidance and counselling because I am fascinated by people. I want to learn more about why people behave as they do and are motivated to help people improve their lives. However, there are key ingredients of a helping relationship in helping anyone includes acceptance, this is the act of relating to another person without judging him or her. Respect which is also an attitude of giving dignity to each individual...

...Although the Chinese experimented with block printing by the 11th century, Johannes Gutenberg created movable type in the 15th century and invented a machine that is widely known as the printing press (History of the Printing Press, 2007, The Story section, para. 2). This significant discovery led to the publication of books that promoted literacy and expanded knowledge. This paper provides a background and analysis of the social, economic, and political factors that influenced this important discovery. As a result of this invention, the expansion of knowledge challenged many traditional beliefs and created a paradigm shift in human relationships among different regions of the world. There were Social, Economic, and Political Factors that played a huge role in the printing press as well. During the late medieval times, society was making a change into the coming years. Occurring was a pickup in social factors that lead to emerging capitalism, this sparked off more literacy among the wealthy and upper, middle-class. With new interest of literacy and knowledge, the printing press did not satisfy the demand. Manuscripts, prior to the discovery of the printing press, took years to develop. Thereafter, pages were published using time-consuming wood graving techniques with limited reusability. Pages were compromised of a number of blocks jointed together to raise the words off the page and were then pressed and copied onto another (Ament, 2007). Gutenberg first experimented...

...utilize more fully. Whether in a corporate setting, a business of our own, a church environment, a volunteer organization, or in the home, improving our leadership abilities must be done intentionally. The acquisition and comprehension of good useable information and a disciplined process that can be learned and then taught. These two things are the keys to unleashing the potential hidden within. The best place to gain and understand new information is still books. Although the methods of a process may vary with each leader, three aspects remain; vision, goal setting, and working. A disciplined process without these three foundational components will lack effectiveness and longevity. The mark of great leadership is unyielding and persistent tenacity in the face of uncertainty and possible failure. These qualities can make a person appear fearless, but that would be an inaccurate assessment. It is not that all great leaders are fearless, every person experiences some level fear. What people need to understand is, fear is a façade that positions itself in opposition of success. Leaders do not posses super powers, and they are not without fear, or doubt, or any other human venerability. What leaders do posses is: the knowledge that information comes first and fuels everything; the ability stand for what they know to be true; the courage to turn a dream into a...

...In a country with its fundamentals based on liberty and equality, America always has struggled with those very concepts. Throughout history, Americans have been challenged to make decisions that have oppressed and freed certain groups of people. The political fight for same-sex marriages is a perfect example of this notion. This relation between spouses has created a major controversy that is creating history in our nation. A series of protests, acts and political scandal has opened America to discuss a topic that had been in “the closet” for a long time. This discussion asks questions that have caused a visceral reaction in society. Same sex marriage opens the door to a new unnatural purpose that could detrimentally influence the fragile generations to come. Tradition is a strong component in the institution of marriage. The ideal American dream usually involves the perfect fairy-tale wedding with the gorgeous white wedding dress for the bride, the matching bridesmaids, the well-arranged bouquet and, the numerous rituals that compose this well thought-out event. Usually it requires a spectacular amount of planning, devotion and dollars to make the important day memorable. Family and friends come together to rejoice in the vows that will bond the two lovers into a lifetime journey of love, commitment and fidelity. Both persons in the relation is expected to have a role in this institution. According to Judith Wallerstein and Sandra Blakeslee, “In the idealized form of the...

...The Verdict of History Lee Strobel, author of “The Verdict of History”, researched questions he had about Christianity and tried to answer them with an open mind. One question he asked himself was, “Can the autobiographies of Jesus be trust?”. Lee thought the gospels were just religious propaganda, made through imagination. But, Craig Blomberg, a specialist on it, had convincing information with good evidence supporting that they are reliable. The gospel writers wanted to preserve their experience and were honest. Some of the facts in the gospel included accurate historical facts of that time period. Although there are many forms of New Testament manuscripts, they are very similar to the old, original writings. Bruce Metzger, a world-class scholar, stated that the modern new testaments are 99.5 % free of textual discrepancies. Lee also asked himself, “Is there Credible evidence for Jesus outside his biographies?”. We have better evidence of Jesus than any other religion. There are sources outside the Bible that account for Jesus’ miracles, followers, crucifixion, and teachings. Also, there are no archaeological findings that disprove any Biblical reference. In fact, archaeology discoveries show that Luke, a writer of one of the gospels, was a careful historian. If he was so careful with his writings, why would we assume that he would create inaccurate reports of something so important? As historians look at the documents that relate back to the time of Jesus, there is strong...

Such historical problems would challenge the validity of the message of Daniel. Throughout this research paper, we will take a look at the five historical problems in the book of Daniel. We will carefully examine each of these problems in hopes of uncovering the truth. There are two major questions to be answered in this paper. Are the historical problems actually problems or just misunderstandings and do these affect the message we received from the book of Daniel? BACKGROUND AND MESSAGE: It is important to know the background and message of the book of Daniel, or any book of the Bible, before attempting to interpret or understand a specific situation. The book of Daniel is broken up into two sections. The first section is composed of chapters one through six. These are historical narratives of Daniel’s life. The second section is chapters seven through twelve and this section...

...the world. This paper will describe fundamental mechanism of these religious traditions and their association to the sacred. It will include the critical issues of religion and examples of religious traditions held worldwide. How a religious tradition organizes including leadership, relationships among members, and so forth and what a religious does and say. A religious tradition an act of something that followers of one religion do because it was done for many years by gods or goddesses. These traditions are diverse for each different religion. Each religion has its own texts, stories, and myths etc. that permit people to read about that tradition to a specific religion. For example the Christian religion tells the story of the creation of earth and how it happened according to Christian beliefs from the bible. In some religions the scared reality is not seen as only personal attributes but is more like a natural energy or mysterious power that is manifested through the universe and nature. Some religion praising the reality of multiple gods where they each are separated each entitled to an aspect of reality such as the gods of Egypt. It also explains why certain days are religious holidays and why there are certain traditions. The Hindu religion has the Bhagavat Gita, the Ramayana, and other texts that enlighten the stories of the lives of certain gods, goddesses, and heroes. It also explains why we must commemorate specific holidays and how we should...

...decay. Because no one was there to measure the amount of Carbon-14 when the organism died, scientists use the ratio of C-12 and C-14 in the atmosphere to find the measure of C-12. Due to the changing amount of C-14, the ratio will be changing. A small ratio means that the organism has been dead longer. The problem with this method is that it only works if the ratio is constant. However, it has not been constant, giving scientists many inaccurate answers. Even if the ratio is constant, this method tells scientists the day that the organism stopped the intake of C-14, not their age. Then, Mount St, Helens came in the way, changing the way most scientists thought about the way fossils are...

... “It Ain't Necessarily So” Being as interested in news and politics as I am, I was already aware of the fact that statistics are extremely inaccurate. Statistics falsely portray their sample or population to be over exaggerated or under exaggerated. Either way, statistics are basically lies, whether that is the intention or not. Reading “It Ain't Necessarily So” has only further confirmed by beliefs about statistics and their falseness. I had never taken into consideration all of those who are involved in the inaccuracy of said statistics, though. I had always just blamed the news sources for that. However, reading this paper has taught me that the news sources are probably the only people not involved in what is basically a lie; they are just given the information and told to report it. I now know that the victim (or in some cases, so-called “victim”), investigator, and the person collecting the data are the ones who are to blame for the misrepresentation. These false studies are being presented to the public every day, concerning a very wide range of topics. Extreme confusion is caused when the public hears drastically varying numbers and reports concerning things such as presidential approval rates, unemployment rates, and any other topic one might think of. When each news source is reporting entirely different information on the same subject matter, this causes the public to be bias toward one specific news station and it is typically the one the viewer himself...

...Ethical Treatment of Participants Business 600 March 11, 2016 Abstract This paper examines the ethical treatment of participants in business research which includes the researcher, the decision maker, and the participant. Each has an obligation to the research study and by exhibiting ethical behavior, the data results will determine accurate information that the decision maker can use for their company. If there is a presence of unethical behavior like lying, deception, coercion, not fully being educated or aware of the study details, it can result in the damaging consequences for not only the participants, but it can also affect the shareholders of the company, the customers buying the product, and even the employees of the store that sells the product. This paper will go into detail of the many obligations each participant has to themselves as well as others. We cannot allow some people to be left at the back of the human rights bus… We must ensure the rights of individual groups or people –be they indigenous peoples, or peoples of Asian or African or American descent, or Jews or Muslims– are not sacrificed on an altar of progress for some while there are setbacks to others. -Matthew Coon Come, National Chief of The Assembly Of First Nations (Catalyst Centre, 2013). Research can open doors and allow for interests to be pursued, solve a problem that a company has, or it can help enhance a plan that is already in place. Applied research specifically emphasizes...

The Greek word for equipping implies: A recovered wholeness, as when a broken limb is set and mends. A discovered function, as when a physical member is properly operating. The task of the gifted leader is to cultivate the individual and corporate ministries of those he leads. As the “equipper” his job is to help each member find his function in God, experience wholeness in his ministry, and to help each member find his place of service to God.
