Introduction
We would like to thank the staff of PC World in taking the time to learn the new Point of Sales system. The system is much more modern than our last system that the company had and therefore all the users will need the proper training on its current functions. Within the Microsoft Project file you will find each step of the training session to include the preparation. The purpose of this memo is to explain each step along the way.
Preparation
The initial planning of the meeting will take some extra preparation. The next couple of days will entail gathering information that is necessary on the training staff that will be needed for the two days of training. The Human Resources department will be responsible for providing the list. Along with the preparation we also need to look at the facilities that will be available for the company to use. The list should be reviewed within a timely manner to narrow down the possibilities and setting one location for the accommodations and training room. There are some venues that has helped the company out before so it would be best to reach out to them again and see if they possibly would have any openings. The IT department will be responsible for creating a list of all necessary hardware which will be needed for the training session, during this period.
Training Staff
Once the list of trainers that will be available for the training session is complete and obtained the best thing to do would be to categorize the trainers by experience. Anyone requiring recommendations should speak to the managers and trainers for assistance. Both trainers and managers have been notified and will be standing by in the event that anyone may need them. The trainers will be appointed to the individual session according to their experience. As soon as this has been categorized the trainers should be notified by email which sessions they will be assigned to.

...completing a project is organization. Organization is a major factor in projects that consist of teams. Organization can mean many things, like specific documents, for specific jobs, labels, filing, etc. Team organization is the key ingredient to maintaining a stress free, on time, on track project. Below is a list of organization skills, and tactics, for organizing a team; Tasks: Tasks should set based on the department, and their skills, e.g. shipping should be the warehouse task and the warehouse task alone. Tasks should also be broken up inside the department as well; everybody should not be working on the same thing. If you give an employee a specific task, this helps in the long run, because if that part of the project is not complete then that employee will be held accountable. Lists: This concept is basically what it says it is a list; this could be of many things, e.g. product list, task list, assignment list, etc. No matter what it may be, from paper towels to heavy equipment you write down everything you want, and/or may need, no matter how big, or small. The list is the easy part implementing the list is where it gets tricky. To implement the list you first need to go first go through the list and choose what you really need, and what you can do without, because remember everything on the list will not be obtainable. Now we move to; Implementation: Now it’s time to put these ideas to a test. To implement these ideas start with the most important tasks first (refer...

...COMPLETE A PROJECT. A WBS IS ARRANGED IN A HIERARCHY AND CONSTRUCTED TO ALLOW FOR CLEAR AND LOGICAL GROUPINGS, EITHER BY ACTIVITIES OR DELIVERABLES. THE WBS SHOULD REPRESENT THE WORK IDENTIFIED IN THE APPROVED PROJECT SCOPE STATEMENT AND SERVES AS AN EARLY FOUNDATION FOR EFFECTIVE SCHEDULE DEVELOPMENT AND COST ESTIMATING. PROJECT MANAGERS TYPICALLY WILL DEVELOP A WBS AS A PRECURSOR TO A DETAILED PROJECT SCHEDULE. THE WBS SHOULD BE ACCOMPANIED BY A WBS DICTIONARY, WHICH LISTS AND DEFINES WBS ELEMENTS. The goals of developing a WBS and WBS Dictionary are 1) for the project team to proactively and logically plan out the project to completion, 2) to collect the information about work that needs to be done for a project, and 3) to organize activities into manageable components that will achieve project objectives. The WBS and WBS Dictionary are not the schedule, but rather the building blocks to it. The progression of WBS and WBS Dictionary development is as follows: [pic] The WBS and WBS Dictionary should not be static documents. WBS construction is subject to project management progressive elaboration, and as new information becomes known, the WBS should be revised to reflect that information. Project & Task Management: the Pursuit of Happyness

...Project & Task Management: The Pursuit of Happyness Project & Task Management: “The Pursuit of Happyness” “The Pursuit of Happyness” is a movie about an African American man, Christopher Gardner, and his journey to reach “happyness” in his life. Christopher was abandoned by his father as an infant and met his father for the first time when he was 28 years old. Because of this Chris vows to be nothing like his father when he has a child of his own. Chris and his son Christopher Jr. are homeless. He takes on a competitive unpaid internship as a stockbroker in hopes to be hired on as a full time employee, all while caring for his son. This movie is a story of determination and hope while being faced with disappointment and provocation. There are so many lessons that can be taken from Christopher Gardner and of those I’ve decided to use a clip from “The Pursuit of Happyness” and teach a lesson on project & task management. The scene that I used to teach my lesson is called: Cold Calling. This is where Chris Gardner demonstrates how to reduce wasteful activities in the office to make a bigger impact in his productivity. Out of necessity to care for his son, Chris has a shorter day and does what he can to make the most of the resources he has. In the clip as Chris is calling potential clients he doesn’t hang up the phone in between calls to save precious time. He also eliminates time wasted using the restroom by not consuming water during the day as well as time...

Finnish Project Management Championships 2010

...Finnish Project Management Championships 2010 Technical case Case OleanTek: scheduling, resourcing and costs for a new service business launch project OleanTek is a medium-sized technology-based firm with its core business in equipment and system deliveries for large engineering industry clients. Its three strategic customers have increasingly requested maintenance services after the actual equipment and system deliveries, and these services have so far been carried out by the side of other duties by the technical staff. OleanTek’s leaders have noticed that maintenance could be implemented also in the form of more strategic service business that could complement the company’s offering and generate important benefits to other customers, too. OleanTek has decided to invest in a new service business launch project to plan and test four basic service concepts concurrently: corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, spare parts service, and modernization. The project starts with delimiting the service offering and ends with planning the broader service launch process; the actual marketing and broader launch of new services are excluded from the project. Paul Lander, the maintenance manager, has been selected as project manager for the project. He is well acquainted with OleanTek and its clientele already. Paul has noticed that it is very difficult to plan the project with detail as most of the tasks include a lot of uncertainty due to their ambiguous content and novelty and...
