Hoodlums to Heroes: The Inside Scoop of the Jay Mountain Fire

BREAKING NEWS FROM TULSA, OKLAHOMA: Many of you may have heard about the fire that has taken place recently near Jay Mountain, Oklahoma. It was a tragedy that showed us that the juvenile delinquents in Tulsa, more commonly known as Greasers, are in fact, heroes. This is the story of three young men, previously seen as hoodlums, who risked their lives by saving children from a burning church, and the story of why everyone is in shock that they did so.
A few days ago, an old abandoned church near Jay Mountain caught fire. A few young children were inside the church playing games. Then, three boys ran onto the scene. Two of the boys ran into the church, while the other yelled at them to stop. A witness says “The children would not be alive if those three boys hadn’t ran into the church.” One of the boys, Ponyboy Curtis, jumped out of a window just before the church collapsed on the other boy, Johnny Cade. Immediately after that, the third boy, Dallas Winston, ran into the collapsed church to save Johnny. The three boys were rushed to the hospital. Witnesses and the medics alike were astounded that the boys showed such heroism, as two of them had committed a murder a few days before this harrowing event. …show more content…
A witness explained that Bob was drowning Ponyboy, and Johnny stepped in with a switchblade, sticking it in Bob’s abdomen, killing the young boy. Dallas Winston was reported to have actually helped the two killers get away from the scene, by giving them money and a loaded gun. The two boys apparently fled the scene. No one knows what happened in the time they were away, but we are gathering information from the boys, their families, and their fellow Greasers. All we know is they ended up on the site of the fire, and acted as heroes. However, some people are actually debating this: are the boys heroes, or
