The Crucible “How do you call Heaven! Whore! Whore!” This quote explains John Proctor’s loyalty to Elizabeth Proctor. Although he says he committed adultery, he attempts to throw Abigail out of power. This shows that he is still trying to help Elizabeth Proctor from hanging. The common traits that I share with John Proctor are loyalty, determination, and leadership. One common trait that I share with John Proctor is that we are both loyal people, and we are very trustworthy. John Proctor is loyal in the fact that he said he committed adultery. This may not seem like something that would show loyalty, but it does. He didn’t want Elizabeth Proctor to be hung or killed. It shows that he loved his wife more than he wanted to have an affair with…show more content… Both John Proctor and I show determination in our everyday lives, but since the Crucible was such a short play, there isn’t as broad of a spectrum for John Proctor. He shows his determination by not giving up in the courtroom. He never stops trying to save his wife from being hanged in court, even though he knows everyone else is going against his word. He doesn’t think anyone will listen to him because he has sinned, and he is not the power of the court, so to speak. The power of the court is Abigail Williams, and going against her word makes a person very brave. As John Proctor is determined in the courtroom, I am determined in my everyday life. I work harder everyday to become not only a better basketball player, but a better person. I take out the negative comments that may come to mind and input positive comments or say nothing at all. For instance, if someone is bothering me in school because they can’t be quiet, I will most likely be angry, but I am determined to become a better person each day by not saying mean things to others. There is a phrase that goes along with this being, “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all,” and I have taken that to heart. Another way in which I am determined is to study in subjects that I may not be proud of. Getting lower than an eighty-five percent in a class doesn’t tickle my fancy, and I am determined to keep all my grades above that. If they drop…show more content… Although it is minimally shown, in the courtroom, John shows his leadership by going against Abigail’s word. It also shows bravery because it is such a bold thing to do, but it shows that he is a leader because he knows that everyone is against him, and he’s trying to get everyone on his side. That is what leaders do. They try to get everyone to form their opinion around their own. As for me, I am the same way. When it comes to friends, I am usually the one who says where we go out to eat or where we do a certain thing. It isn’t because I’m the oldest, strongest, or toughest of the group. It is because my friends see me as a good leader, for I usually make the right decision when it comes to it. They trust in my decisions, such as driving as well. As I am only one of few friends that has my driver’s license, I am usually the one to be driving people around to places. It is because driving shows leadership and a sense of power in a way. It shows that one is capable of doing something that others may not be able to. The leader of the group is, nine times out of ten, going to be the driver. As there is no sexism involved in saying, but that is the reason why most men prefer to drive over women. They prefer that sense of leadership over the woman, and it is also common
