Cooties and Crayons

...Cooties and Crayons Everything was fun and games when we were kids. The biggest worry was who would share their crayons. Going outside between naps was just for fun. Where girls were gross and boys had cooties! And nobody ever consumed their time in love. Time changes fast as we grow into adults. The swarms of kids surrounding the lunch line was always a mass of fun. Scariest people that walked the school were the adults. A mature, young boy sits down; a young blond girl yelps,“ew, cooties!” The worst thing a boy could break was her crayons. Where crushes were just crushes that didn’t turn into love. Because, in reality, they are only kids! This chaos continues at daycare, at home, in the presence of adults. Tiny little buggers run off to play, complaining and giggling about the nasty cooties. Inside the daycare, the walls are collaged with crayons. Oh, these walking little beasts have so much fun. The excuses never change; they are only kids! When the parents arrive the little monsters are showered with love. As we grow up, it’s STDs; not cooties. All because we think we’re in love. Doctors sit down with guardians and try to explain; “they’re still just kids.” All the parents think they are in charge they’re the adults. Teen boys and girls tease each other, harass and bully, all in good fun. Multi-colored kaleidoscopes turn black and blue and grey; pens and pencils replace crayons. When it’s stressful, we regress and pull out the crayons. Sneaking...

Examples Of Dichotomy In The Great Gatsby

...The Dichotomy of Truth vs Fun F. Scott Fitzgerald was able to create a unique structure for his novel The Great Gatsby which effectively handled his dichotomy of “Do we really want to know the truth?” vs “Do we really want to ruin people’s fun?” Fitzgerald narrates the story through the character of Nick Carraway which allows the reader to see character development through the eyes of someone actually living and seeing it. The structure of the novel is also a scrambled mess with new information constantly being learned just not always in chronological order. This causes Nick to be detective-like and put the story together for us by using flashbacks and other forms of storytelling. Multiple scenarios throughout the novel such as Tom and Myrtle’s secret affair, Nick reserving all judgement, and Gatsby’s parties show us how the structure of the novel...

Why Hunting Is Wrong

...I believe that hunting for sport is wrong. Did you know that nine hundred five animals are extinct and 16,928 are listed as threatened to be extinct? Well, a big amount of those animals were extinct due to hunting. Now I'm not saying that all hunting is wrong because some third world countries have to hunt to survive. Yet in richer countries, people can go to a store to buy their food and they still hunt just for the fun of it. If you ask me, I don’t see the fun of killing an animal that has no chance against someone with a gun. Hunting makes people have the mentality that it’s okay to kill animals and that leads to people killing endangered animals, even if it’s illegal. People just shouldn’t be able to hunt just for the fun of it. One day...

This year was pretty fun and it wasn’t too hard so I think that i’m going to not fail next year and it’ll be really interesting because i’ll be a mentor next year so that will be a fun experience. But at the same time I can’t wait for summer. I love my friends but good lord sometimes they can be really ridiculous. So Al Capone was a fun one. I think it was my best one because not only was it my guided project but it was the one I had the most fun on and I had more interest in more than any of the other ones so that was a big one. I think that the notecards was a bit more organized that my notebook ones where. But that’s okay because what’s done is done. This totally off point but I think that another big part was that my logs for Al Capone was the prettiest. The reason I say this is because. I enjoyed logging for that one. Then there was 7 wonders that one was a bit more challengeing then the guided but that’s how it’s supposed to be I think. That one wasn’t as fun as Al Capone was but I got a good live source...

...Erupting Snow Recipe Posted by Crystal Underwood  I am super excited to share this new sensory recipe today!  Rosie had so much fun with this activity. We took our Sparkle Snow recipe and slightly altered it to get MAGIC SNOW!  This was completely experimental, and the results were fabulous! Make Your Own Sensory Snow Follow Growing a Jeweled Rose on Pinterest and Facebook for tons of kids activities. Let me start by saying that this sensory material is AMAZING even without the magical erupting aspect.  It is the best sensory snow we have ever tried.  It is naturally cold, making it the most realistic as well.  It is fluffy and powdery and clean smelling and AMAZING!  You also only need TWO INGREDIENTS to make it ; baking soda and shaving cream -two things most people already have on hand! To make your own Snow: Add the desired amount of baking soda to a sensory bin or container.  Then, slowly mix in shaving cream.  I used one large box of baking soda and almost a full can of shaving foam.  As you slowly mix in the shaving cream you will discover a fantastic mold-able snow.  The snow is super soft, silky smooth, and smells so clean and fresh.  It is also naturally cold.  I am not sure why exactly but it is!  It feels just like fresh fallen powder in your hands. Playing with the snow just like this is LOTS of FUN!  Rosie added glitter just for fun but it isn't necessary of course.  She had a blast making snow balls and snow men for a while. Then I surprised her with...
