The novel that I read for 3rd quarter was Twisted which is a coming of age novel written by Laurie Halse Anderson. This book doesn’t have a sequel or prequel. It takes place in the suburbs in modern time. The conflict is a little bit of person vs. person and person vs. self because Tyler doesn’t get along with his father very well and vis versa. They struggle with this until the very end of the novel. He also has struggles with himself because over the summer he committed a crime and he has basically made his own life miserable, and often has suicidal thoughts. Tyler’s life is much different than the typical high school student’s life. The protagonist of the novel is Tyler. He really wants to just end his life. The three adjectives that best describe him are careless, inconsiderate, and argumentative. The reason why is because he really doesn’t give any effort in any activity inside or outside of school, as well as always picking arguments with his father. He is a dynamic character because he goes through a very massive change at the end of the novel. Another character is Bethany Milbury, who is the daughter to tylers fathers boss. She is known as the hottest girl in Tylers grade, and tylers had a crush on her for a long time. Not only is she hot, she is very nice and friendly towards others. The three adjectives that best describe her are kind, flirty, and beautiful because she begins to get very flirty with Tyler once the school year begins which makes Tyler feel less bad about his life and himself in general.
