...M5.05 Leading innovation and change 1. Explain the importance of innovation for own organisation 1. Explain the importance of innovation for own organization I work in an authority responsible to implement the EU legislation in our country. One of the aims of the organization is to draft policies and to attend meetings concerning the EU policies. EU regulations are directly applicable to each Member State, while directives need to be transposed by the responsible officials. Before any decisions are taken consultations are carried out with the industry, the general public and any interested stakeholders. When a legal tool is in place there is always a transition in which the regulation is implemented hence the industry and the public will have ample time to the new regulations. During this time awareness and publicity is necessary so that we reach as many concerned people as possible. Innovation is important within my organization since there is the need to find new ways to increase publicity of the organization and at the same time we need to educate the public. We are not very reactive to the outside environment hence we need to become more innovative and inherently more adaptable to the external environment. This will allow us to be proactive and more effectively to capture opportunities. Innovation within my organization is needed, mainly in the following aspects: • Service innovation – where new and better service offerings to customers should...

...Internal and External Factors Eric Holder Management of Information Systems/205 March 1, 2015 Introduction External and internal factors such as globalization, technology, innovation, diversity, and ethics can significantly impact the four functions of management. Functions such as planning, organizing, leading, and controlling can be influenced by these different internal and external factors since organizations need to ensure that they are addressed appropriately for business success. The organization we will be covering is Google and how internal and external facts play key roles in the corporation. Globalization Globalization is the process that increased the link and interdependence of the world markets and businesses. Internal factors of globalization include production, development, customer service and marketing. Competition is an external factor. According to Bateman and Snell, “Companies that want to grow often need to tap international markets, where incomes are rising, and demand is increasing” (2011). Google has become a global organization and has learned to plan efficiently, organize, lead, and control their internal and external factors. With that said, the planning function is vital when entering into the worldwide market. For instance, Google was able to set and achieve their mission statement by anticipating future trends and threats and devising plans to counter or capitalize these factors. Without appropriate planning, entering into...

...(Intel Corporation, 2005). Being that Intel needs to keep up with the constant change of microprocessors, motherboards, and other computer and communication products, they need to have a management team that adapts to this fast-paced environment. For Intel Corporation, the three factors that influence management most in the company is the rapid change of the industry Intel is part of, the technology that is always being updated, as well as the innovation that needs imagined. Rapid Change In 1965, Gordon Moore, cofounder of Intel Corp. made the observation that processing power would double every 18 months. This is now called Moore’s law, and the implications of it are that Intel has to plan, organize, lead, and control rapid change at least every 18 months, or otherwise they will be left in the dust of their competitors. A look on Intel’s web page will show that Intel is not sitting idle. Intel has several plans for the future that not only includes new processors, but chips for wireless technology, higher security technology, and several others. A check of Intel’s on line job search indicated that there are no less than 20 openings in the Untied States for research and development engineering positions. This indicates that Intel is currently in the process organizing the resources required to meet the challenging plans. Intel’s internal philosophies govern the leadership and control for rapid change. According to Intel values, customer...

...attractive, which could lead the company’s failure down the road. Also, it explained that company with high-end profitable products could be easily disruptive by new cheaper innovations. As Christensen said, Innovator’s Solution will help and train managers to avoid the causes of failure and to make decisions to lead successful growth of the company, especially with the new growth in business. The following section of the book is to understanding on how to beat our most powerful competitors. At first, the authors explained “The Disruptive Innovation Model,” which is established in Innovator’s Dilemma. The model outlined three important elements. 1) A rate of improvement that customers can fully use or absorb. 2) A rate of improvement that goes beyond what customers can fully use or absorb. 3) A distinction between sustaining and disruptive innovation. The model explained that the new competitors are more likely to beat the leaders in the terms of disruptive innovations. When new competitors developed and commercialize a simpler product that would offer cheaper alternative option to the leading products, they could appeal to new customers, and, eventually, steal the huge chuck of the market share from leading companies with similar, but more complex and higher cost, products. The only way for the leading powerful companies to...

...Internal and external affects the four functions of management Sherron Morrison, Jose Garcia, Melton Horne, James Gatson, Marisa Doporto MGT/230 April 30, 2014 Professor Mario Madrid Internal and external affects the four functions of management Introduction How does the human body operate? That is a complex question, because the human body responds differently due to internal and external factors. These same rules apply to management. The factors that affect management are planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. There are many moving parts and all of these pieces must work cohesively together for an organization, or body to exist. Management ensures that each branch is functioning properly or making the necessary changes to increase productivity. Throughout history, many organizations had to adapt to these internal and external factors due to globalization, technology, innovations, diversity, and ethics. An idea starts as a seed and that seed grows into a tree. Just as a tree, the idea branches out as it ages. The same theory applies when it comes to globalization. One would hope that his or her idea would multiply and flourish. To do so, one must properly plan for the proposed growth that they hope to attain. This feat requires organization of the internal resources to ensure stabilization of future growth. Just as the tree grows taller, it also grows wider to support the addition weight. The internal leadership must oversee and forecast the addition...
