...many different types of communication; face to face meetings, e-mails, text messages, live speeches and telephone conversations to name a few. Scenario one As the marketing manager for a new beverage I would communicate to my team how to develop a strategy for entering this new beverage into the global market, with a step by step process. I would start with electronic communication depending upon my team’s access with electronic communication. I would begin with a summary of the information. In this situation depending on the accessibility of my team an electronic communication would start the process. After giving my team time to review the information at hand through the electronic communication I would than require a face to face meeting, In order to assess their understanding of the information given. According to S. Robbins and T. Judge (2011) face to face meeting is the best way to get information to employees without dealing with the message being misinterpreted. The best channel to communicate back to the Vice President of Operation about my team’s strategy and product details is through a face to face meeting. Since I work in the beverage industry we are always challenged with developing new product strategies and executing those strategies in the field. I use face to face meetings to get information back to my boss about new product strategies. In this situation, I would use face to face meeting to get information back to my Vice President. If the...

...Alcoholic Anonymous (AA) is a self-help group developed to help and support alcoholics maintain sobriety. AA has a twelve-step model that helps guide alcoholics to sobriety. I attended an AA meeting that was held in a church. At the beginning of the meeting, the group said the serenity prayer. The prayer encourages the participants to make changes in their lives. Following the prayer, introductions were made by the members of the group. The members stated their names and some of them said that they were alcoholics. The theme of the meeting was “Letting Go, Letting God”. There was a featured speaker who discussed how letting go of insignificant problems helps improve the quality of your life and bring you closer to God. He stated that AA meeting...

...they may need help with. This system should never be one where the employee is constantly torn down and told how much they need to improve the way they are operating. This would only cause tension and the employee would never want to be present for another meeting if they are constantly criticized and never shown praise. When setting up an appraisal system you should keep in mind that you only need to address what is actually observed with the employees behavior, make sure the system is based on the rules and guidelines of the company, have only a trained superior provided the review, and always allow the employee to give feedback on what is being discussed in the meeting. The importance of this system is to not only correct issues before they get out of control, but also to allow the employee to keep the management team on the same page with them throughout their employment with the company. If there is an issue that needs to be address then they have the opportunity to ask for help and let someone know where they feel the problem may lie. Before you begin an appraisal meeting, you should have all the elements that need to be discussed listed and printed out, copy for both you and the employee, so that the meeting can go more smoothly. Some sample questions may be whether or not the employee feels that they have had a productive year up to that point and if not what is the reason. Another question could be what part of the job is the most difficult for you to do and why is...

...The first meeting that I attended was an Al-Anon meeting on Monday, June 12th. This meeting was located at the First Baptist Church of Ashville and it began at 12:00 P.M. I went with Brook and we ended up running into Wendy once we were at the meeting. This was the first time I had been to the First Baptist Church and I was struck by how beautiful the location was. The meeting was held in a room within the church that was located close to the gymnasium and the youth center. The room was tricky to find, however, there were lots of people who graciously pointed Brook and I in the right direction. This meeting was extremely structured and was a discussion based meeting. The leader of the meeting read a short passage that dealt with letting go and letting God, then opened the floor for discussion. Since there were about 30 attendees, not everyone was given the opportunity to share their thoughts on the reading. Individuals who did share...

...Professional Workplace Dilemma Paper Dr. Martha Cawley Gen/480 Julio Williams November 17, 2011 While being a student here at the University of Phoenix, I work at this company named ACS. ACS is a outsourcing company that handles several companies such as Humana, Aetna, Wellpath, Sprint, Apple, and other companies customer service. While working for ACS, I really experience a few very interesting situations. Of all the situations that occurred while working for ACS there is one that really stood out the most to me. The situation occurred about 4 years ago with the Operations Manager of the Humana campaign. First of all let me give you a little background information on the Operations Manager. His name is Craig and he was transferred into our company from Florida. He was very arrogant, racist, stubborn, but intimidated by intelligent outspoken people. He would say things to people that would irritate them and he would not care. I was a team lead with Humana, a position I held every since I started with them. When I met Craig we immediately did not hit it off. I knew my position inside out and I trained other customer service reps about Humana' s systems as well as how to be good customer service reps. Craig kind of thought I was a know it all and felt someway intimidated by me. I work with Craig for about 3 years during my tenure at ACS. During my 3 years there with him I applied for several managerial positions which I qualified for. He never hired me for...

The police made her and her family walk miles to a train depot. They were taken to a Paris sports stadium where they spend days without food water and bathrooms. In the stadium it smelt awful. A French gua rd convinced a French guard to let their family stay together. Cecil's mother became ill and the guards let her and her younger sister to go with their mother to the hospital. ...I was able to lead IEP meetings, yoga group lessons, teacher and team meetings, run classroom programs. I was fortunate enough to get to a complex care appointment at Children’s Hospital with one of the kiddos. I got to see a student figure out how to use a one arm drive wheelchair. I was able to assess students on a daily basis regarding health status, and made lots of clinical decisions regarding care. I was able to collaborate with a variety of professionals, including SLPs, OTs, other PTs, teaching assistants, special education teachers, vision teachers and administrative staff. By the end of the experience Alysha, my CI, noted that I was less like a student to her and more like a co-worker, where we could really bounce ideas off of each other and collaborate to bring the best care to the...

...Retail Marketing, budget variance vs. actual for Jun 2011. Sure, Let me get my notes out that I had submitted to your group. I emailed you a copy as well with your comments for this review. Did you receive it? Yes, I did Ok, there were 3 main categories where the variance between actual and budget were the highest. Those categories are Compensation, Marketing, IT, and then we put everything else from your department into other. Correct. I have my notes here when we put the budget together last year, that the decision was made that for your dept 1880 there would be no increase in salary due to the shortfall in revenue that is forecasted for this year, however dept 1883 would receive a 2% increase. As well as the initial plan was to payout a 100% of bonus and then was reduced back to 50% due to the market condition. In compensation for the month your budget was $44,110 and your actual was $39,256 for a MTD variance of favorable $4,854. Yes, that is correct. Actuals were lower than forecast due to Bonus (payouts were 50% vs 100% expected at the time of the forecast in recognition of a more challenging economic environment). Ok, so that matches with what we had forecasted, however it is still $4854 less than the projected forecast at 50%. We had to let go of Sarah unfortunately as her area dried up and she was having a lot of issues filling her order board. That is her salary amount as we let her go in May. That is unfortunate in today’s economic situation. Please...

...LETS BE LEFTIES TINA MORTON CHAMBERLIN COLLEGE OF NURSING NOVEMBER 2, 2014 It’s 8 am Monday morning and I have just clocked in. I walk into my office to start my day, as I sit down at my desk and turn on my computer I notice that I have received an email from the Human Resources Department that states “Lets be Lefties for a Day” the memo followed by saying that there have been many complaints of ethnocentrism amongst employees and management so they have decided to implement a project for the day so that we can try to recognize why the staff was feeling this way. The first challenge was to have us take a sock and put a Ping-Pong ball in our fist and not to use that hand for the afternoon, the second task was to get out on the floor and experience what our staff did on a daily basis and the third task was to have a meeting with the other departments to see what their outcome was. Ok so here it goes I have my ping pong ball and my sock ready to go, I have placed the items on my right hand as I am right hand dominant and this is forcing me to have to use My left hand for all tasks, well let’s just say that my first trip to the bathroom was eventful, As I went about my daily tasks I had a difficult time typing, answering the phone and eating. As I was going along with this challenge I decided not only to challenge my staff but some of the physician’s and ancillary staff that we have in the facility such as caseworkers and housekeeping, To go home and to report back to me...

...Communication and documentation are two of the biggest factors that must be implemented across the board in some of the best practices for any project manager. These best practices include getting everything straight upfront, studying contracts, having a kick-off meeting, taking stored materials into consideration, documenting changes, and closing out the project. So first thing is getting all the details and developing a strategy to meet goals that are realistic on budget. You have to develop a plan with specific steps or activities to begin the project. Starting with no plan can lead to missed delivery or completion dates as well as cost and budget issues. Also as a project manager it is important to review and study contracts of anyone involved in the project. Liability, indemnity, and warranty are key parts of a contract and can be very costly for a company if they aren’t carefully reviewed. The last thing you need is to be held liable for something you should not be. This can blow a budget and completion dates instantly. Once all this is completed having a kick-off meeting with the client is critical. This meeting should involve all parties involved in the project. The purpose of the meeting is to basically go over the strategy and details of the project to set expectations for everyone. Setting expectations...

...(Robbins & Judge, 2011). Productively executing this assignment for the overall victory of the company is this goal because that is what will generate revenue. The first step would be to meet personally as a group in order to discuss the expectations that are at hand. Microsoft Outlook is a great tool to use when sending invites for meetings. Once the meeting takes place minutes should be recorded to refer back to. Other methods of communication to follow would be conference calls, e-mails, etc. When conveying the strategy to the Vice President of Operations, I would still use a formal channel because this pertains to business versus personal. In presenting to him or her, again I would send an invite in Outlook for us to meet. Once accepted, I would have prepared a PowerPoint, which is an excellent visual aid. Face-to-face communication is best in both situations to convey information quickly, to avoid confusion, to elicit input, and so questions can be asked. Written communication to the team is best after they have been informed so they have a document they can refer back to while working on the project. Written communication is also used when meeting with the Vice President to outline the details of the strategy. So both the Manager of Operations and the Vice President can refer back to the strategy as needed. Scenario Two Passwords often expire and if one does not realize that expiration is soon to come and...

...is you will always have something to do. There are multiple things that go wrong or will eventually go wrong. I didn't like being the main subject of a conversation when someone fails to report to me on a piece of equipment or system. When I look back on those situations I see I let my confluence flow and should have done something different. When a small compressor starts to fail and its passed its prime and I let the upper chain of command know and they brush it off. I could have used more of my sequence and should have given more details on what my solution is. My favorite thing I dislike the most, is when another person that has been trained to be your back up (in absence) they don't pull the load. I should have used more of my sequence and precise than just leaving it to chance. I liked it when a hot water heater tank needs to be overhauled (recycled) and my boss lets me take the guys on the site to do on the job training. My technical reasoning steps in big time but it has to merge with my sequence and precise patterns. I like being able to break down steam valves and show the how, why, when, and what if. Same as before I use my sequence, technical reasoning and precise to ensure that all things are in place. The most enjoyable part is being able to speak among the higher ranks as a voice for those who's voices can't speak at those meetings. I use all my patterns in those closed door meetings. Sometimes knowing when to be...

...The Mormons Originally, I had intended to attend a Catholic mass and write about my experience with it but, after going to the meeting, I didn’t feel like I had enough to write about. There just didn’t seem to be a whole lot to really base an opinion on it for me because I didn’t really have any pre or misconceived ideas about the religion going into it. It has been around for much longer than many other Christian denominations and so it just wasn’t exciting enough for me. After I attended the mass I really felt like I should find something more interesting or controversial, so this time I attended a Mormon meeting and I found that experience to be more in line with what I was looking for. Misconceptions First, let me just say that this meeting was far longer than I had expected. It was three hours to be exact, broken into three meetings. I hadn’t expected anyone to really enjoy going to church on their day off from work, let alone spend three hours there. Although it was long, it was extremely informative and the speakers were quite impressive given the fact that they were not paid for their time spent preparing or giving their sermons. This was one of the things that really blew all my preconceived ideas about religious worship. I thought that all religious clergy were in it for the money but, in fact, no Mormon clergy are paid for their service. And another thing I learned from my time spent in the church was that the “Mormons” prefer to be referred to as...
