I am usually very open with my life and the things that I do. Whether I tell things to a close friend or to a complete stranger, I am never ashamed to tell the things I have been through throughout my life. Perhaps one of the proudest moments of my life was getting to have the physique that I currently have. Most people assume that I have always been naturally fit, but in reality, I used to be obese. I remember waking day after day, washing my face and looking at myself in the mirror, disgusted. I knew I had to change that routine. Getting in shape was something that I had wanted for as long as I could remember. I knew that I was going to achieve this goal, it was just always a matter of when.
No matter how hard I tried, I had never been able to actually get the motivation I needed to embark on my journey to a healthier life. The willpower it took for me to start on this journey was sparked by the unfortunate breakup that I went through with the girlfriend that I had at the time. It is a little sad to say, but that breakup was all it took for me to start working on my number one goal. Perhaps it was the desire to show my ex-girlfriend my true potential, or perhaps it was just a way to get her jealous, who knows? Nonetheless, I can proudly say that I accredit my transformation to her.

It was the Sunday morning after the break up that my life changed for the better. I picked up my car keys, took eighty dollars out of my bank account, and went straight to the gym like a man on a mission. I was out of my comfort zone, I knew that, but I had get over it to get to where I am now. I paid my membership and went straight to the weights. The hardest part was the beginning. For a month straight, I did not miss a single day, and it felt like hell. I was exhausted and all I wanted to do was give up, but I knew I could not do that. If I gave up then, all the hard work I had put in would have been for nothing. My muscles were being used like never before, and I even started to eat healthier. After I passed the first two months, I would crave the gym. I felt addicted to the gym because every day I would see more and more improvement. I would sometimes even pass up the opportunity to hang out with my friends in order to go to the gym on time and work out. There was nothing else on my mind except a brighter physical future.
After about six months of non-stop dedication, I looked at a “before and after” picture of myself. I was so proud of what I had achieved that I even shed a tear. The disgusting double chin I once had completely disappeared. Even the chubby chipmunk looking cheeks I once had were gone. The belly that once dangled above my belt buckle had transformed into perfectly shaped six pack abs. After those six months, my life had completely changed. I was more confident than ever before and I knew that I had changed for the better. Even my ex-girlfriend, who inspired me to start his life change, told me that I looked better than ever before. That motivated me even more to never stop staying in shape. I did not just look great, but I felt better than ever before.
I sometimes look back at old pictures of me to never forget the person who I was before. To never let the pride of who I am now consume me, to remind me of all the hard work that I put into achieving this goal and to motivate me to always work harder to be even better than what I am now. Anything is possible, you just have to find the right motivation to kick start your journey to glory.

Compare and Contrast Two Different Ways to Lose Weight

...the diet has ended. The Alli Diet is a dietary supplement that is taken three times a day, 30 minutes before a meal that follows a strict diet. The Abs Diet is an exercise program where there are different options for everyone- whether it is at the gym or at home, with or without equipment. The Alli Diet may be what’s in style, but when considering the physical effects, nutritional value, and health benefits, The Abs Diet is healthier as a whole. The effects of both The Alli Diet and The Abs Diet can be physically life changing. The Alli pill is designed to be taken with a reduced- calorie, low-fat meal containing 15-30 percent fat depending on each phase and stops the body from absorbing about 25% of the fats that is consumed. The Alli Diet is meant for short-term use only, most people start to regain weight when the pill is stopped and is not meant to have a long term effect. On the other hand, The Abs Diet is a more of a change in life style rather than a diet. The Abs Diet is designed to grow with the body as it starts to adapt to each work-out. Zinczenko (2006) stated “Over time, we begin to lose the benefits of even the best workout program,...

...you modify/change the following meal plan to improve the fiber, fat and phytochemical composition? Show me a change for each meal separately and do NOT merely add healthy foods to this menu – I will deduct points as that will be incorrect!!! Breakfast: Fast food sausage, egg & biscuit Lunch: Hamburger, French Fries & large soft drink Dinner: Canned soup & low-calorie frozen dinner To change the breakfast meal I would rinse off the sausage in order to get the grease and seasoning off to decrease the fat content. Eggs already contain a great source of fiber so I would eat more of them to increase the fiber intake. In order to change the lunch meal I would leave the skin on the potatoes when preparing the French fries to add more fiber to the diet, grilling the burger will decrease the fat content. I would also bake the French fries in order to preserve the phytochemical composition in the potatoes. To change the dinner meal I would drain the broth of the soup, it contains the most fat. 15 points 5. (a). What are the risks of a sedentary lifestyle? Turbokickboxing

...Daniels 21APR12 1 Turbo Kickboxing Just like many other countless individuals, I too have spent my whole life struggling with weight loss. Throughout my entire life, my weight constantly fluctuated back and forth. Attempting various crazy diets and rigorous short-lived work out routines, I could not get my weight under control. It wasn’t until I discovered Turbo Kickboxing back in 2010 that I started to shed the pounds for good. A one hour cardio class that infused a blend of mixed martial arts with dance, I slowly began to drop the weight again, the right way. During this three year process, not only did I lose the weight, I had fun doing it. In 2012, I’ve managed to keep the weight off, get physically and mentally fit, gain more self-confidence, and make new friends. Turbo Kickboxing is a form of exercise that promotes a fun and healthy lifestyle change by allowing individuals to control their weight, develop muscle, and improve overall mental and physical performance. One of the main reasons I had gained so much weight was due to a crazy fad diet known as “The South Beach Diet”. As I understood, its purpose was to reset and retrain your metabolism. By immediately taking away bad foods, and slowly reintroducing healthy foods, it would cause your body to lose weight. Little did I know this drastic lifestyle change would be one that I couldn’t commit to. As real life continued to happen, I began to hit rough patches causing me to become an emotional eater. Not only did I gain...

Media Self Image

...According to the study, teenage girls in Southern Italy tend to have lower body dissatisfaction and acceptance of mass media body ideals than that of teenage girls from Northern Italy. The reason could be cultural differences and what each society believes is an ideal woman, or even how they were raised. Media also points towards people of white ethnicity to be featured on their billboards and hardly ever a different race. This is somewhat offensive as it suggests that people of white ethnicity are the perfect race and are superior above all other races. "Getting the Message: Media Images and Stereotypes and Their Effect on Asian Americans," by Teresa A. Mok, discusses how Asian Americans, in particular, are held to a different standard than many other ethnicities. She explains the potential negative effects of being racially different when in a society that has a monoracial standard of beauty. She genuinely...

To do this we have to have what is called “a diet.” To have a healthy diet, we have to make sure we eat the right kinds of foods. Nutritious foods are very beneficial; nutrients help us to grow, keep our bodies in good repair, and help us to stay fit and active. Healthful foods provide necessary nutrients to our body. Nutrients are a key factor to obtain energy so our muscles work properly, our brain remains active and our hearts continue to beat. Furthermore, “nutrients help build and strengthen bones, muscles, and tendons and regulate body processes, such as blood pressure” (WebMD 2005-2008). Living longer is what most people strive for. For countless people, it is a struggle to succeed at eating healthy. For others, this success comes naturally. “By committing to eat healthier, one will reduce their risk of many chronic diseases” (Barston, S., Toscano M., & Arthur, S., 2008).
