the parable of the deaf and blind, a short story about a man who was born blind and totaly deaf. in his existence in the world, he lived his life in darkness and silence. nothing to see and notihing to hear. unable to see the reality in the world he was living.

in the story, the man showed discontentment with his situation and ask more from god to improve what he has. in connection to the real world, truly humans are not contented with what they have. they keepi on asking and seekjng for more. they live in dissatisfsction. in their search for their satisfaction they can even commit sin and do bad things just to get what they want.

another reality that can be realize from the story is that, regret is always in the end. sometimes we make mistakes in making decisions and when we get undesirable outcomes, we often regret the decision we made. we always wish to bring back time and alter our mistakes. just like how the man regretted when he saw how unpeaceful and noisy the world is. he regretted upon seeing the condition of the world and hearing all those cries and noise.

another reality as well presented in the story is that the world we are living is unpeaceful and full of problems. there is extreme problem of poverty that we are facing. in which it serves as the root of crimes. for the people to improve their living they even do bad things that makes the world unpeaceful. people mouthing unkind words and even parents beating their children.

the story revolves around the theme that we must be contented of what we have. we must always thank God for what we have. we should not ask more than what is given to us instead we must feel blessed about it for discontenment will not yield anything good.

...close and have grown fond of each other during the past few years living together. We are never bored and have the most insane time when we are together, which sometimes leaves our third flat mate, Adam, feeling a little redundant, or at least that's what I think. Actually Adam is usually awfully busy doing God-know-what and he doesn't like the sort of games Jeffery and I play. The cigarette is finished but not my tea. I light another one. I always wake up before Jeffery. He must be still asleep in his room. Last night was fun, but not worth it, I find myself saying this more and more frequently then I should these days. You see even though my love for Jeffery flows in my very veins, and I will always love him, but Jeffery is a complete ass and he doesn't know what he is doing with his life and he needs to go! I better start studying before Jeffery wakes up, I say to...

British Novel

...This essay presents a brief overview of the development of the nineteenth century English novel. Transition and Transformation: One could be forgiven for believing that the words ‘fiction’ and ‘novel’ mean one and the same thing. The main reason for this confusion is that both of them have a common denominator; they both tell a story. In the novel, we have the theatre of life and for over two centuries it has been the most effective agent of the moral imagination. Though it has never really achieved perfection in form and its shortcomings are numerable, nevertheless one experiences from it not only the extent of human variety, but also the value of this variety. Fiction existed right from the first time man told a story and thus it is in this respect only, that it is similar to the forerunner of the novel as we know it today, which is any work of fiction in England written before 1670. Novelists express their conscious conclusions about life as they experience it and these manifest themselves not only in the characters they create and their interaction with each other, but also in the way they make them react or respond to the various situations in which they find themselves and in what they say within these situations. They are relatively free to choose their material, but their conclusions about life and the nature of their novels are dependent on their innate personality, as this affects not only the way in which they present their characters, but also our own understanding...

Not Like Father or Son

...Amir and Baba may be father and son, but they are nothing alike. Amir, is the cowardly one, and Baba is the bear. Amir spent most of his time trying to impress his father, and not succeeding. Amir would try and just end up disappointing Baba. In the end, Amir ruined his own life and the life of others trying to impress his father. When Amir’s mother died while giving birth to him, he felt it was his fault, and that Baba somehow blamed Amir. This is not true. Baba was very much in love with his wife; she was his princess. Baba’s problem was not that Amir had taken his princess away, but that Amir was nothing like Baba, and he could not relate to his own son. This was a big burden on Amir. Amir felt Baba treated him differently because he had taken his mother away from Baba. Amir felt the need to make up for it. Amir’s mother being alive would not have changed the way Baba treated him because Amir would have been the same little boy that was weak and cowardly, and that was what Baba hated so much. Baba gave special treatment to their servant, Hassan, and this made Amir jealous. Baba treated Hassan like a son. After all, Hassan was easier to relate to for Baba because he would stand up for himself when he needed to. Hassan did not let people push him around like Amir did, and I thought this appealed to Baba because that is what he wanted Amir to be like. Later on, I learned it was because of a secret that was much...

I Adore Life

...The leaves are turning brown again. Cool and brisk, the wind blows up the torn sweater the old man wears. Visibly shaking and uncertain of his surroundings, he’s a husk of his former self. His eyes dilate, his face is melting. Literally melting. He collapses into a small dirty heap, his eyes shut and a final breath escapes his lips. A young boy walks by and asks for money, he too broke and dirty. Another shows up and prods his silent corpse. This is where our story begins. Set in Detroit, MI during the great recession, it’s a story based on the collapse of the withering economic catastrophe known as the Automotive Industry. I would like to ask for a possibility to build a film around the concept of the desolation felt in that town and of this place. But with only $500 in hand and an old VHS video recorder, there’s only so much I can create with these limited resources. It’ll be set in front of a Party Plus Market Off of Wyoming St, an area of town notorious for its high and violent crime rate. Its daring for sure, but I wish to capture the true feeling of a desperate environment in one of the most violent and crime riddled cities in America. If there’s a chance to negotiate an advance of at least $1000 to put towards filming expenses, it’d be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. EXT. LIQUOR STORE: It’s dark outside. Street lights dimly glow on the entrance of a local liquor store. An old man in tattered clothes and a Walmart welcome vest is seen...

Close Viewing-the Shawshank Redemption

...as a metaphor-everybody who sees it can project their own trials and tribulations, and hope for triumph into it.” Darabont employs the technique of lighting and couples dialogue together in this sequence ‘Norton’s Introduction at the Line-Up’. When the prisoners march inside of Shawshank, they line up and face the Warden Norton. Windows behind the prisoners create shadows that stretch across the painted line on the concrete floor, as well as darkening the prisoners’ faces, making it difficult to see their expressions. Also, Darabont manipulates the lighting behind Norton, as it is very dark, however his face is well lit and the audience can clearly see his facial expressions. The additional technique is dialogue, expressed when Norton says, “I believe in two things, discipline and the Bible. Here you’ll receive both. Put your trust in the Lord, your ass belongs to me.” This reveals Norton’s intentions, and how he is a hypocritical character. Darabont’s use of lighting reflects on the audience and it contributes to their understanding of the severities of prison life and institutionalism, the underlying theme in the film. Moreover, dialogue enhances the audiences’ perception of Norton and his deceitful character. Through this use of...

Feeding Animals

...Once, when I was a child, my grandmother, father and I were walking in a nature reserve. We had recently had a barbeque and my grandmother was carrying a plastic bag full of hamburger buns. Soon a gaggle of ducks began to follow us. They trailed along, quacking, butting their heads into our legs, click-clacking their little webbed feet down the cement pathway. Finally fed up, my grandmother spun around and faced them. "Leave us alone, you needy ducks!" she shouted. "Go home! Your parents must be worried sick." When the ducks wouldn't leave, my grandmother started hitting them on their heads with the plastic bag of hamburger buns. It was funny. If you'd known my grandmother, how defined by hardship her life was, you would have found this incident even funnier. My father, who knew his mother's struggles all too well, had to lean against a tree because he was laughing so hard. Sweet mercy, there is nothing like humor to ease the soul. What Are The Stereotypes In Smoke Signals

...saved your dumbass in that fire he didn't save me he never saved me…. I wish he would have let you burn in that fire you know? Then he wouldn't have left me.” Thomas replies “I mean your dad left her too. But you left her too and you're worse because you still live in the same house as her!” with regard to Victor’s mother. This dialogue reveals the root of the resentment, annoyance, and aversion Victor feels toward Thomas. Thomas’s comment specifically refers to Victors emotional detachment from his loved ones that occurred after his father’s abandonment. This scene is darkly lit as they travel into the unknown, to represent the uncertainty of what lies ahead. On the bus, Victor challenges a seemingly innocent woman to the point where she removes herself from the situation. When Thomas questions his motives and asks “ What’d you do that for! She was nice!” Victor promptly replies with “Nice my ass! She was a liar…. People are awful! They’ll rob you blind if you’re not looking.” This scene exhibits the clear psychological effects Arnold’s abuse and abandonment sparked and the lack of patience Victor has for Thomas. Poet and author, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, once said “If we could read the history of our enemies, we should see sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility.” This quote can provide additional insight into the relationship of Victor and Thomas. Despite Victor’s apparent disinterest and resentment, Thomas remains unfazed and continues to pursue the friendship...

Toby Keith

...Patriotism and Toby Keith Ever since 2001, America has gone though many different moods. The mood of the society is often portrayed through music. It is hard to believe that music can have such a large impact on society, but I think society has impacted music. Tragedies and victories throughout history have impacted musical artists and how they express themselves. This is because artists use their voice to express their feelings. People most often accept the music because they feel the same way but do not know how to express their true emotions. Music provides a distraction from these feelings if the artists can capture the current feeling of society into a song. The few artists who are able to do this are among the most popular in history. One artist that represents the emotion of America after the tragedy of the suicidal bombing of the twin towers on September 11, 2001 is country singer Toby Keith. On September 11, 2001, the unexpected occurred when the two world trade centers, now American symbols of hope, faith, and commitment, were destroyed by terrorist bombs. Commitment to your country. Commitment to patriotism. As history is bound to repeat itself, it was time for a new musical artist to capture the hearts of the American people and provide a distraction from reality and a sense of hope for society to believe in. One of the few artists that emerged from the rebel of war was Toby Keith. Although communication researchers predicted that hit songs immediately following...

Feminist Synthesis Essay

...Twitter lit up with the distasteful phenomenon of hundreds of women pounced on her for stating her honest opinion; until even the Guardian’s Julie Bindel had to state the obvious that Hynde herself was ‘not a rapist’. But when it comes to sex, feminists are unduly squeamish, so much so that one shy male, Samuel Fishwick, assembled a manual to romance in the era of equality. Approaching the Vagenda Blog for help, he was bluntly informed that a man must never ask a woman to meet him for a drink at a location near his humble abode: ‘It makes women think you’re going to turn their skin into a lampshade.’ Does it, though? Or are feminists embroidering nonsensically, spending so much time brooding over their own vaginas that they fail to use their brains...

It’s time for Flash to take one for the team,” William said. Crocco walked into the barn. A moment later, he returned with one of the farmhands. An old Springer Spaniel walked slowly behind the farmhand. “This is Jack,” Crocco said, introducing William to the farmhand. “Flash is his dog.” “It’s nice to see you again,” Jack said, stepping forward and extending his hand. “Have we met before?” William asked, shaking Jack’s hand. “It’s been over a decade. I’m not surprised you don’t remember me. I was with you the day you purchased Sleeping Giant. You rode into that vagrant camp and kicked some ass,” Jack said. “Oh, yeah, I remember you now.” “We still talk about that around here. You had balls of steel doing that. You must remember Flash, he rode out with us that day,” Jack said, reaching down and scratching Flash between the ears. “Oh, sure. Flash, huh, it looks like it’s been a long time since he lived up to his name.” “He definitely has a little gray on his snout, but don’t we all. He’s still a good boy. A little slow these days, that’s all.” “He looks thirsty,” William said. “Where’s his water bowl?” “Over there in the shade.” William walked across the barnyard and picked up a red water bowl placed under a Weeping Willow tree. William emptied the bowl, carried it to the five-gallon bucket, and re-filled it with water from...
