To some people, the only love worth having is the one worth fighting for. However, if fighting becomes consistent enough the real question is how much you are willing to suffer for that person? In Willa Cather’s My Mortal Enemy, she illustrates that in many cases and situations love is not enough to sustain a relationship. Through all hard times of Myra’s and Oswald’s relationship, their love was not enough in the end to save them from continuously arguing and lying to each other about unsubstantial things; eventually, this lead Myra and Oswald to regret staying together when Myra became ill as times were worse than ever before.
To begin with the first years of being together, Myra had to make a decision of staying with her Uncle and getting
