ENG 101 Make It Stop I know that I am awake! I just know I am. I felt myself sitting up in the bed, eyes wide open and my heart pounding harder than I have ever felt it before. But just as sure as I am that
I am wake the images just keep coming, playing like a horror movie, only in slow motion.
No matter what I try to do the movie kept playing. “Please stop, make it stop “I
Remember crying. The horrific images continue to flash before me. I am reliving the entire attack. It was so real and vivid, almost as if I can not only see the assault but I can feel the punches as they are being rained down on my body.
Why can I not wake up? I know what is coming next so why can’t make this stop? I was forced to watch everything that had been done to me. As if I was an outsider looking in, I watches as the attack started upstairs. I watched as what seemed to be 20 maybe 30 punches land on my head and body yet I know the worse was still yet to come. He continues to hit me over and over again. The scenes continue to play out before my eyes. We are downstairs now, hopefully now I won’t wake up the boys with my cries. The attack continues I can feel the blows all over my body. I try running away but I cannot escape him or the terrifying fear of what is coming next. The images continue until I feel his hand wrapped around my throat. I know it will all be over soon. I begin to pray just as I did that night “Lord please make it stop!”
Just as I take, what I was afraid could have been my last breathe, the tight grip around my neck starts to loosen. He has finally stopped! It has finally stopped. I look around me only to see that I am awake and in my room at Mom and Dad's. The images have stopped but I and left with the overwhelming feeling of terror, so much that I was trembling. My heart was still racing and I was sweating repulsively. I continued to dream like this for the next three months. Night after night, it was never ending. After months of being exhausted and an emotional wreck, I finally went to the doctor. I was diagnosed with Parasominia. One source states that “Parasominia is a disruptive sleep disorders that can occur during arousals from REM sleep or partial arousals from
Non-REM sleep (WebMD).” Parasominia is not limited to night terrors. Nightmares, sleepwalking, and confusional arousalsa are all forms of Parasominia. (WebMD) He explained that I was having night terrors due to the depression and anxiety I was experiencing after the incident. According to research “Night terrors have been shown to appear in stage 4 of sleep.
Night terror occur in some people, simply by touching or awakening them during stage 4 of sleep. Why night terrors occur is still a mystery. The mind is supposed to be practically void during the deeper stages of sleep “(WebMD).

Night terrors are described, according to one source, as a “[s]udden awakening from sleep, persistent fear or terror that occurs at night, panic, screaming, sweating, confusion, and rapid heart rate. This panic, as stated by will often last anywhere from five to twenty minutes”
(WebMD). I find the most amazing aspect of night terrors is that it generates a heart rate of
160 to 170 beats per minute. This is much faster than the normal heart rate attained under most circumstances. (WebMD) I believe this to be true. I cannot remember my heart beating so fast, not even when I would go to the gym.

One source claims that…” [night terrors] which may last anywhere from five to twenty minutes…” (Meanings of Dreams) although mine seemed to last forever. I do not have a good recollection of how long I would stay in this state of mind; however, as I repeatedly tried to wake myself time seemed to stand still.
Research illustrates that “[w]hen the subject does wake up, they usually have no recollection of the episode other than a sense of fear “(Meanings of Dreams). I did not find this to be true in my incidence. I was able to remember every detail. This could be due to the fact that this was an actually event that had taken place in my life.
The feeling of fear that drenched my body after waking was indescribable. I could not understand how these terrors I was having could leave me with such a horrible feeling.
It was the same unmistakable feeling of sheer terror I felt that night. One source implies that the feeling of terror represents your loss of trust in others. (Dream Moods) I believe this to be very true. Once I began to deal with my depression and anxiety issues the night terrors stopped. I came to realize that certain things seem to trigger them. I was unable watch any type of graphic brutal fighting or shows with domestic violence in them. I had always been a huge UFC fan but the fights would set off the night terrors. About a month ago, they started again. I believe this is because I have been stressed and worried about having to recall the only “dreams” I can remember. Another contributing factor in the terrors returning was due to the fact of the boys’ father came to town for a visit. This would have been the first time we had seen each other in 8 years. I really thought I had forgiven him for the things that happened but my mind was obviously telling me different. Maybe I haven’t found forgiveness and I still have some things to work on.

...As Maria Robinson once said, “Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending.”  Nothing could be closer to the truth.  But before you can begin this process of transformation you have to stop doing the things that have been holding you back. Here are some ideas to get you started: 1. Stop spending time with the wrong people. – Life is too short to spend time with people who suck the happiness out of you.  If someone wants you in their life, they’ll make room for you.  You shouldn’t have to fight for a spot.  Never, ever insist yourself to someone who continuously overlooks your worth.  And remember, it’s not the people that stand by your side when you’re at your best, but the ones who stand beside you when you’re at your worst that are your true friends. 2. Stop running from your problems. – Face them head on.  No, it won’t be easy.  There is no person in the world capable of flawlessly handling every punch thrown at them.  We aren’t supposed to be able to instantly solve problems.  That’s not how we’re made.  In fact, we’re made to get upset, sad, hurt, stumble and fall.  Because that’s the whole purpose of living – to face problems, learn, adapt, and solve them over the course of time.  This is what ultimately molds us into the person we become. 3. Stop lying to yourself. – You can lie to anyone else in the world, but you can’t lie to yourself.  Our lives improve only when we take chances, and the first and most difficult...

The Road Less Traveled on

...The Road Less Traveled On Throughout life we have all encountered and overcome obstacles thrown in our paths. Life is a journey, life is like a road. Everyone is on this road and everyone has a destination. The windiness and bumpiness of the road, the stops we make, and the directions we choose to go are the things that make our journey and lives different. Goals are the most important stops and the final destination in the road of life. To be without goals, is to drive an unknown road without a map. No set destination can be achieved without an attempt at plans or directions. Some roads are shorter than others, due to life choices or life obstacles. Many people make choices that cause them to crash and others sometimes just need a little tow from a friend to get their lives back in the right direction on the road. Life is a road we are on, it is our destiny to choose where our road takes us, this I believe. Despite young age, many of us have encountered hardships beyond our years. Many people have overcome poverty, peer pressure, and the loss of loved ones. I personally have dealt with all these. One of the biggest bumps in my road has been the loss of a close aunt, she was like a second mother to me. I felt like giving up on my goals and my path, depression led to a lack of motivation. However, I continued driving through the rocky patch of road I was on. Both a hardship and blessing, I now am a teenage father. The statement by Drew...

Water Resource Plan

...water resource is water pollution. This is cause by different problem when we dump garage, chemicals in the water, oil, and human waste in rivers and ocean. Water pollution have many different causes it makes it hard sometimes to resolve this issue. Sewage is one of the main causes of water pollution. This type of water pollution affects our lives in many ways. Over billions of people on this earth dispose of sewage waste a lot. When you dispose of sewage in any lakes, rivers, and ocean it takes a affect on our health and living condition. Many people do not realize that water pollution is very important and many people can get sick from it. I believe a good management plan will alleviate the problem of water pollution. Water pollution needs to have strict laws of waste and fuel dumping. They need certain people to go out and do testing on these lakes, rivers, and ocean to make sure that no one is dumping anything into the water. We should also have a machine that clean the water every so often. Making sure that it will collect all the trash and waste. The government needs to make s person pay a fine if they get caught polluting the water. I do not understand of where anyone should have a opposing view of water pollution. My view will be making sure that this world stop polluting the water. This problem is for our safety and health. There are many people who do no even care if the water is being polluted. How can this world or the government let some types of water pollution...

...especially bus stops. A small town needs all the support it can receive. A big boost of that support comes from bus stops. They allow for savings economically and delete any inconvenience of the citizens not having transportation to work. In order for any small community to be successful; there must be jobs and people willing to work. This is just a harsh reality of life. In Ottumwa, Iowa, there are plenty of people with work and plenty of people willing to work. There is only one problem that is restricting these motivated people from work. That is that there is very little public transportation. Some people need this in order to get from one place to another, especially if it is to their work. It is understood that we are living in an age that most people have vehicles; the key word there is "most." Not everyone has a vehicle that they are blessed with. In a mostly middle class and poor community that is notably true. From personal experience, living in Ottumwa for twelve years, I have seen that this is accurate. How does a community expect to strive in having a strong core if they cannot provide the simple use of public transportation? The amount of benefits that comes with building more bus stops in this town is extraordinary; to the point where it would not make sense to get it done. The benefits range from, economic savings, not only to the community but also the citizens using bus stops, to making the environment safer by decreasing co2 emissions. There is one bus stop in the...

...The lives of the minority especially the Hispanics, African Americans, Asians, etc. “Donald Trump argued Tuesday that the controversial stop-and-frisk policing tactic once employed in New York City is constitutional, adding that it would "overwhelmingly" save African-American and Hispanic lives.
