...A visual analysis is the basic unit of art historical writing. The purpose of a visual analysis is to recognize and understand the visual choices that an artist or photographer has made in creating the artwork. Key questions that you may ask yourself while writing a visual analysis are; what is the focal point, and what elements of design does the artist use to create the focal point. My analysis of this image reveals many key points or different ways you can comprehend the image. It all depends on your focal points and how literal you look at something. People who view this image can simply look past its meaning and just view it as a girl standing on a stage. You have to be focused on its focal point and look past the girl and read the message the photographer is making. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. For instance, in this picture a little girl is in an auditorium by herself with a spotlight on her. The child is smiling, which expresses that she is happy and she is amazed of what she is seeing. I view this image as the child thinking about her future of how she plans to perform on the stage. This...

...Commencement Speech Analysis Essay In his speech, Jobs explores the crucial role of failure in finding success, specifically in the situations when he shows that it takes hard work, deliberate practice, and the ability to learn from failure and to persevere. The first point that Jobs makes, is that to be successful, you have to work hard. During the commencement speech, Jobs shares that, “If I had never dropped out, I would have never dropped in on this calligraphy class, and personal computers might not have the wonderful typography that they do,” (7). Though Jobs admits to having dropped out of the class he was originally attending and ‘dropping in’ on a new one the decision he made was one that, in the long run, furthered his career. By making the decision, and putting in the work to go through the calligraphy class, Jobs ended up creating the future of typefaces on the personal computer. By putting himself and his career on the line, Jobs tells the Stanford graduating class of 2005, “Again, you can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future,” (8). Jobs let his actions decide his fate for his career, and at the time, he didn’t know that the decisions he was making would land him where it did. It took years of hard work for him to get to where he ended up, at the top of an internationally known company. Jobs later went on to say, “We worked hard, and in 10 years Apple...

...Management Stage one: Knowledge Time management - the analysis of how working hours are spent and the prioritization of tasks in order to maximize personal efficiency in the workplace Procrastination The discipline of time management is an important skill that needs to be learned early on. One of the biggest obstacles to overcome is procrastination. Procrastination is the problem of putting things off. We all seem to procrastinate on certain levels by making up excuses not to do something. The bad thing is that procrastination can be displayed in an every day lifestyle, which can effect us in achieving our goals. Procrastination can be the reason behind our failures Proverbs 10: 4 - 5 “Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth. He who gathers crops in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.” This verse contrasts being lazy with hard work. We need to live our lives for God by not being lazy but by working hard to serve Him. An unproductive lifestyle comes from procrastination Procrastination can lead to a bad lifestyle. It can result in getting bad grades, not showing your best work, and being unproductive. It is important to avoid making excuses and as you head towards your goal, you should pray that God gives you the persistence to achieve it without getting lazy. Underlying problems can be revealed by procrastination If we continue putting things off it can mean we lack discipline, are poor time managers...

...Assignment 1. What would others say about you that is generally positive? I think people would say that am a kind, helpful, empathetic, caring, respectful, and resourceful. This is hard to describe I would hope that people have a good perception of me. As stated in our text book “all of us have a view of ourselves but that view is not always accurate. When it is not accurate we often get in the way of ourselves,” (DeJanasz, Dowd & Schneider, 2015, p6). I find this statement to be true since we see ourselves in one way while other may see us in a different way. I find it hard to self-evaluate myself since it don’t like to talk about myself and my feelings. 2. What “constructive suggestions” would others offer to help you improve or change? Some constructive suggestion will be to have patience and to be more selfish. What they are trying to say is that I need to put myself first for a change. I’m always putting others feelings first before my own feelings. According to my husband I need more patience. As defined in the Merriam-Webster Learner Dictionary patience is the “ability to wait for a long time without becoming annoyed or upset.” Patience is what I need as soon as possible, sometimes I cannot control my reaction which is a real problem. 3. What do you most like about yourself? What I like most about myself is that always make sure everyone around me is happy, no matter what, I always strive to make sure everyone around me is taken care off. I love that...

...Defeating the Demons Inside: A Study on Individuals Who Have Survived the Long-Term Effects of Bullying A Research Proposal Presented to Dr. Nymia P. Simbulan Department of Behavioral Sciences College of Arts and Sciences University of the Philippines Manila In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Course BS 199.1 (Qualitative Methods in Behavioral Research) Christiani Lumayag Matugas 2011-31444 April 1, 2013 I. Introduction Statement of the Problem and Review of Related Literature The school is a battle field and each child is a lone soldier trying to make his/her way through. Each child will have to defeat a series of exams, scary teachers, lab experiments, physical education classes, crushes, mortal enemies and the like. Most of the time, children will learn from these experiences and mature with the lessons that each of these experiences have taught them. However, there are certain battles that wound all too deeply and do not seem to end. These battles are the battles of bullying. What is Bullying? Bullying is a social and interpersonal problem that involves the repeated, intentional use of aggression against a less powerful other (Whitney & Smith, 1993). Bullying can take different forms, be it direct (e.g., physical aggression), indirect (e.g., exclusion, spreading rumors), or verbal (e.g., name-calling). (Hunter, Mora-Merchan and Ortega, 2004) Children who are victims of bullying are more likely than non-victims...

...HRM Class Summary The best thing I have learned in class was the six major steps in strategic planning. Step one: mission, vision, and values. Step two: environmental analysis. Step three: internal analysis. Step four: formulating strategy. Step five: strategy implementation. Step six: evaluation and assessment. Step one consists of creating a mission, vision, and values for the organization. The mission statement is what the organization is about. A vision is where you want to see the organization in the future. Do you plan on expanding? Where would you open another office? What other products or services would you like to offer? What are your company’s values? A few good examples are: having a positive work environment, to make a profit each year, or wanting your employees to succeed. Step two environmental analysis you need to research where you want your company located. Environmental scanning means you need to pay attention to what’s going on around you. Is there a competitor opening up shop down the street? How about your customers? How soon can they receive your product or service? Without proper customer service your company can go downhill fast. Word of mouth experience travels fast. Even if one customer is dissatisfied within a day they could tell three other people. Those people can say, “Oh, I’ve heard about that company from a friend and they wouldn’t recommend using them.” So on and so forth. Step three is internal analysis. Not only do you need to look at...

...Cases are the next best thing to being there. They provide a unique view of the organization processes, problems, and opportunities. Case analysis permits the assumption of various roles on the part of a discussant. Thus, you can assume the role of a user or programmer in one instant, and then take on the job of chief executive officer in the next. There are instances where there does not seem to be enough data or information in a case to make a decision. A lack of information and uncertainty are the rule, rather than the exception, in organizational decision making. Make rational assumptions when faced with incomplete and conflicting data. The dialogue between class members serves as an important part of the learning process. Your task is to explore the various issues raised by the case and strategies for addressing them. There will be disagreements. Sometimes there will be large contingents who align against a minority. Such a situation should not be considered a personal attack, but rather a process of intellectual interchange. There is no right or wrong answer for a typical case. There are, however, good and bad case analyses. The way you marshall your arguments, the clarity of your presentation, and the depth of analysis are the key components of case presentations. Be sure to document assumptions made and discuss pitfalls associated with embarking upon a course of action you suggest. Obviously, the first step in the process of analyzing a case is...

...Douglas Bowen Dr. Evans ENG3U-3 1 May 2015 The Value of Risk-Taking: A Cross Analysis of Krakauer’s Into the Wild When I was younger, I used to play a lot of soccer; I played midfielder. As the midfielder, I had to decide on whether to move onto defense or attack for possession of the ball when the opposing team had it. Each time I decided between the two, I was left open to the fact that my decision may have been the wrong one. Sometimes I would decide to attack in an attempt to gain possession of the ball. Sometimes I would succeed and gain possession back; Sometimes I would fail and the ball would get past me. I eventually grew out of playing soccer and moved onto other sports and hobbies. I occasionally did more dangerous things, like open-face rock climbing. When rock climbing, it always comes back to the same thing: deciding on if doing this thing is worth it or not. Is attempting to jump across worth it? Should I go back down? Or continue up? Each time you ask these things, you have to decide on what to do. Be it rock climbing, playing soccer, or doing anything that involves some sort of decision making, each decision comes with a varying level of risk. In soccer, that risk is minimal and not very life threatening, but when rock climbing (maybe without a belayer), some decisions can come with more serious consequences; these can be anything like small injuries, or they can cause serious injuries or even death. Jon Krakauer, the author of Into the Wild portrays Chris...

...1) Discuss how sales managers can empower their sales staff? A manager who is managing a team of sales persons needs to understand first of all the strengths of the team and then the weaknesses of the team. It is only then can a sales manager decide how they can be empowered to improve the sales figures of a company. The best way to empower sales staff is to train them well in selling skills so that they can be proficient in dealing with any situation when it comes to closing a sales call and selling the product. Another way in which a sales manager can empower his sales team is by giving them the independence to take a few sales decisions on the spot without having to refer everything that the customer wants back to the sales manager. The sales manager can give the sales team the authority to take decisions on a variation of price or delivery or after sales support and also where to look for new target customers. The next best way is to engage the sales team by mentoring, coaching and supporting the original styles of each and every sales person in the team to be able to effectively give them the space to sell in the distinctive styles without feeling constrained in flexing their individual styles. The fourth way is to give them the technological support to be able to handle the volumes of sales call from any geographical territory so that there is no delay in answering specific questions. 2) What three points interest management most when interviewing an...
