There was Plow machines and the smell of fresh cut grass. There was a boy named Manny that lived with his mom, dad, and older brother. Manny's family wasn't the richest one. They had to go collect crops and hunt for their food with what they had. They live in Western Oregon in a small town with about 400 people. Manny is a boy that loves to play baseball, and also loves his family. The town takes a vote on who is going to die every year in the springtime. They have been doing this ritual every year for 40 years. The voting is going to happen when the voting is done the person that dies this year is Manny dad. Manny's family has 2 days to spend with him before he is going to be killed by a guillotine. The 2 days that they had to spend with all together as a family was a short 2 days. It was the day that Manny's dad was going to die. When Manny's mom and dad started talking he said to her "play baseball with Manny he is a great player." The time has come Manny's dad was going to die. After they killed him they all went home and all were crying.
It has been 3 years since Manny's dad was killed. They still have that memory in there heart. It will always be there. Manny's brother has to do all of the hunting while his mom cooks, cleans, and gathers crops. When Manny's brother is done hunting for their meal they play baseball until Manny's mom is finished with dinner. They have about 1 and a half to play baseball every day. Another 2 years have passed Manny is 8 and needs to learn how to hunt and trap. So Manny's brother teaches him. Manny has to make 3 fish traps and put them in the stream. Then Manny and his brother are going on there first hunt
