...CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL EXAMINATIONS GCE Advanced Level MARK SCHEME for the May/June 2014 series 9699 SOCIOLOGY 9699/33 Paper 3 (Social Inequality and Opportunity), maximum raw mark 75 This mark scheme is published as an aid to teachers and candidates, to indicate the requirements of the examination. It shows the basis on which Examiners were instructed to award marks. It does not indicate the details of the discussions that took place at an Examiners’ meeting before marking began, which would have considered the acceptability of alternative answers. Mark schemes should be read in conjunction with the question paper and the Principal Examiner Report for Teachers. Cambridge will not enter into discussions about these mark schemes. Cambridge is publishing the mark schemes for the May/June 2014 series for most IGCSE, GCE Advanced Level and Advanced Subsidiary Level components and some Ordinary Level components. ...My father, like most parents perhaps, had always been of the opinion that I should choose to study Medicine. Nevertheless, despite his relentless efforts and persuasion, he had to concede defeat in the end and embrace the choices I've made regarding my future career when he realised how passionate I do feel about the field of pharmaceutical studies. My desire to achieve a pharmaceutical studies based degree at university level has been simmering since I started studying A-level sciences. I enjoy all aspects of my A-level Chemistry from the experimental, to learning about the environmental impact and the medicinal influence that Chemistry can have in terms of research and development of drugs. My long term goal is to pursue a career in the Pharmaceutical field and studying Chemistry has broadened my sphere and heightened my aptitude for research material beyond the chemistry specification. I am an avid reader of Chemistry World, particularly articles based on nanotechnology and drug delivery. I appreciate the link between drug development and patient care, and regularly follow recent developments within the National Health Service. I find it very useful and informative to read articles published by distinguished institutions such as the National Institute for Clinical Excellence which strive to maintain a balance between the need of destitute patients and government expenditure. I have developed many key skills through studying Chemistry, Maths and Biology at A-levels....

...UCAS PERSONAL STATEMENT – Medical and Oxbridge You are required to compile a Personal Statement in support of your application. What you write here is likely to have a huge influence on whether you receive conditional offers from universities. Therefore you need to put time and effort into this to ensure you stand out from other candidates!! How to write the UCAS Personal Statement The Personal Statement is your only opportunity to 'sell yourself' to a university department before being offered a place or an interview. It must stand out and be attractive to read. No purpose is served by cramming everything into a relatively short space, but also you should not write too much and so to prevent this the statement is limited to 4000 characters. You should: 1) Write in complete sentences, and recognise that lists are of limited value. 2) Avoid any information that is misleading, fictitious or trivial. 3) Remember to use clear English together with correct spelling and punctuation. Most of the Personal Statement will reflect your academic and intellectual interests. Throughout, specific examples are far more convincing than general statements, so do not start by saying "I want to read Chemistry (etc) because I am very interested in it." Our advice is to work on the basis of three paragraphs: The First Paragraph - outline clearly the reasons for selecting your courses/subject(s). Explain clearly what it is that excites you about them, and make explicit...

...Marketing Mix “The four P approach has led to a manipulative attitude to people” (Gummesson, 2002:285). “What marketing deserves is new approaches, new paradigms, which are more market oriented” (Gronroos, 2002:140). “We propose that the mix has now reached its vanishing point, and we argue that marketing requires a new paradigm” (O’Malley & Patterson, 2002:50). What is common among the above three quotations is the fact that they are all against the Marketing mix. They also share the common belief that it’s time for a radical change, one where the 4Ps are rejected for a new paradigm. But the importance of the 4Ps is being undermined. Despite its limitations, they still form the base which is being used by modern organizations. This paper attempts to show the importance of the marketing mix for modern marketers and that it cannot be relegated from modern marketing strategy. The paper is divided into six parts. Beginning with the introduction it then moves on to the development of the marketing mix theory. The third part contains the literature review of the mix. The fourth asserts that marketing mix in conjunction with RM and CRM can result in a successful marketing strategy and the fifth uses Lexus as an example to prove this assertion. It ends with the conclusion. What Is Marketing Mix? The Oxford Dictionary of Business and Management’s definition of the Marketing Mix is of “the factors controlled by a company that can influence consumers’ buying of its products” (Anon...
