Medical Evacuation Medical Evacuation is extremely important for our soldiers fighting for our Country. Medical evacuation is a unit or division of the branch that transports wounded personnel to a medical facility/hospital to care for their injuries. The facility is equipped with lifesaving equipment and personnel specialized in the medical field.
According to AMEED, the “Golden-Hour” refers to a time period lasting for one hour following traumatic injury being sustained by a casualty or medical emergency, during which there is the highest likelihood that prompt medical treatment will prevent death. “The golden hour is the 60 minute period after trauma, after which the chances of survival for wounded Soldiers drop significantly.” During this period of time, it is critical to have the person transported to a facility that can identify the problem and start treatment immediately. Failure to stay within this timeframe can ultimately mean the difference between life or death for personnel.
