Answer the following questions (use MS Project help if necessary): 1. Define effort-driven? a) The definition of effort driven is when you assign/remove people from a task. This makes the tasks to either lengthen or shorten the duration basing it on the number of resources which are assigned to it. When it’s finished it doesn’t affect the total number of work for a task. 2. Under what circumstances would you turn off effort driven scheduling? b) A circumstance in which I would turn off the effort driven scheduling is in complex tasks? The reason why is because it requires highly skilled resources or they could be very complex in general. So if you add more tasks it would slow down the team rather than speeding it up. 3. Use a real-world example of when you would make a task as a Fixed Duration type task? c) The real world example of when I would make a task as a fixed duration type task is about painting my house. If I needed to us a painter to paint the bedroom of a house for 4 days, which would be a total of 32 hours. But the other painter broke his arm and isn’t able to complete the second bedroom so I would have to assign the same painter to the second room. I could assign the task of the painter that broke his arm as part time (50%) to a total of 16 hours. 4. What is the formula for calculating duration? d) The formula for calculating duration is Duration = work/units 5. What are the eight preset work contours (hint: In the Task Usage view right click on a resource name an open the assignment information box) and what are the procedures in applying them to a resource on a task? e) Flat: This is a default contour that has an even distribution of work. f) Back-loaded: This sets the peak activity to happen at the end of the project. g) Front-loaded: This set the peak activity to

...Objectives - MS Project 2010 * Change the task type settings to control how resources affect task assignments * Apply a preset resource contour to change work value distribution * Working with task information forms When planning a project schedule, adjustments are often needed to reflect necessary changes in project scope, assignments, etc. In MS Project, when an assignment is changed, the schedule is recalculated to display the changes. You can work with the scheduling method and the task type settings when making changes to the initial resource assignment. In the previous lesson, the initial resource assignments were made for our project. But we need to learn how to make adjustments to how those resources are used. It is important that you read every part of this lab carefully, if not twice. Working with Effort-Driven Scheduling How a task reacts to the addition and removal of resources is defined by the scheduling method and the task type settings. In MS Project, the default scheduling method is effort-driven scheduling. Effort-driven scheduling extends or shortens the duration of a task to accommodate changes to resources but doesn't change the total work for the task. Work is the amount of effort, or number of hours, resources put into a task. The total work for a task is determined by the duration estimate for the task and the initial resource assignment using the following formula: Work = Duration * Units For example...

...the Web? Index.html FTP7 can use SSL to encrypt its authentication traffic before transmission. IIS7 uses a generic request pipeline that is modular in nature. The component that manages the request pipeline, the server’s application pools, and the worker processes is called WPAS-Windows Process Activation Service. Which feature of IIS7 enables you to publish content found on different drives or different computers on a network, without copying or moving the content? When IIS7 receives an HTTP request containing a URL with no filename, and none of the default document filenames exist in the specified folder, the Web server has two choices: it can generate an error message, or it can display a directory listing. When IIS7 generates a 404 error, it sends a detailed error page, in response to local requests, and a custom...

...MGMT 404 week 3 O*Net Research Center 1. The occupation I was looking for was an Ultrasound technician. Ultrasound tech. was the second occupation that came up during my search. I think the information was comprehensive. The site gave specific information like salaries by state. I really liked the salary break down. The list of tasks is very close to what the ultrasound techs do at my office. They have to submit a report after every ultrasound that they complete. They also have to decide what images they are going to include in the clients portfolio. Before an ultrasound can began, the ultrasound tech. has to review the patient’s record to see if they are having a normal or abnormal pregnancy. Apart of the ultrasound tech. job is to understand the past problems that the client has had. The tools and technology used are also the same. In order to do an ultrasound the tech needs a machine, probe and the correct software. There is a great deal of knowledge that is needed to operate an ultrasound machine. Education, customer service, and physics are all things that an ultrasound tech. must have. The skills needed to work as a tech are speaking, active listening, monitoring, time management, operation monitoring. At my office we do fetal ultrasounds and it is important for the ultrasound techs to monitor the settings on the machine so they don’t become harmful to the unborn baby and mother. 2.
