Once kids reach college they no longer have to share certain information with their parents. This ability in given to them by FERPA. It makes it so parents do not have the right to know, “what or how” their child may be doing at school. In “College Kids Have Too Much Privacy” Michele Willins talks about a kid that did not graduate from college but since her parents had no access to information about her schooling she was able to lie to them and say that she did graduate. As scary as that story is to parents to even think about but that is only one student. Yes, it is true some students cannot use this responsibility that was given to them properly.
