To me Midnight Golf helps teens to become a better individual in life. It will make me become a “giant” and hungrier as a person for the opportunities that I want. Beginning this program I knew what I wanted to be in life, but I didn’t have all of the tools. With this program coming to an end, I feel more sure of myself that I can be the accountant that I want to be in life. Week after week, we were taught the basic things in life that some would think an individual should be taught as life goes on. For example, dinner etiquette, writing a resume, building your credit, and so much more are taught as a child get older. The things that I have learned will follow me for the rest of my life. Midnight Golf makes me proud to be an African

Current Business Operations FHGCC is an 18-hole, par 72, parkland style golf course and driving range. Although small in length (6648 yards from the back tees, 5492 yards from forward tees), it provides a challenge for golfers of all abilities, with water hazards on ten of the holes, and well placed bunkers around the course. ...daydream about my summer, trying to fight my eyelids from closing. But the assumption I made about the typical first day of high school was completely wrong and it changed my outlook on high school for the rest of the year. It’s seven thirty in the morning, the sun is barely out and I’m already sweating through my t-shirt. Luckily I am not the only one, as I look around the classroom everyone looks miserable and fatigued. You could tell everyone wanted to be anywhere but at Anderson High School. The bell had just rung and our English teacher introduced himself and it seemed like it was going to be a fun year. Mr. Ger was dressed professional, wearing an Anderson golf team polo with khaki pants. I expected him to hand out a syllabus for the class to go over but instead he gave us the rubric for our first paper. He mentioned that the essay was due within the next week, which made the whole class simultaneously shrug. No one could believe that on the first day of high school we were...

...separate identity from its accounting heritage. The business challenge was to retain the positive aspects of the brand equity developed over decades as Arthur Andersen, yet break away from the limitations associated with an accounting brand. What was notable was that before its inception, Andersen Consulting was generating almost $1 billion annually in revenue, yet wasn’t well known in the information technology marketplace. And to those who did know them, they were often thought of accountants, and not up to the task of delivering innovative technology solutions. In order to bridge this gap, Andersen Consulting used extensive market research to create a brand and naming strategy that would establish immediate credibility in the “consulting” arena, while at the same time leveraging all of the positive aspects with the Arthur Andersen brand. Market research also helped form the strategy for successfully launching the new name and positioning. In order to build a new identity, Andersen Consulting set a groundbreaking precedent by using sophisticated marketing strategies coupled with the professional services industry’s first large-scale advertising campaign to promote its name, positioning and brand image. Andersen Consulting’s expertise in marketing and communications quickly set it apart from its consulting competitors, making a name for itself amidst a crowded competitive field ranging from hardware/software providers like IBM to strategy consulting firms like McKinsey. Over the...

...Class Policies: Attendance Policy Students are expected to attend all regularly scheduled classes. Should absences be necessary, students are responsible for the material covered during the absences. Faculty cannot grant requests for excessive amounts of make-up material, and they may request written documentation detailing the reason for the absences. Excessive absences make it almost impossible for a student to meet the academic objectives of a course; they frequently cause a student to receive a lower grade, even though, the absences were unavoidable. Strayer University requires all faculty members to take attendance during each class period and to record it accurately on their permanent roster. This data is available for verification of attendance by the appropriate governmental agencies and educational accrediting organizations. A student who is absent from four consecutive class meetings, excluding holidays and emergency cancellation of classes, will be withdrawn automatically from that course. A student will be withdrawn automatically from a mini-session course when he/she misses two consecutively scheduled class meetings. Students not attending scheduled on-ground classes will receive zero points for the weekly discussions. Students arriving to class (or leaving class) more than 30 minutes late/early will receive a 2 point deduction for all discussions. Students arriving (or leaving class) more than 1 hour late/early will receive a 5 point deduction for all...

Compstat

...MANAGING CRIME AND QUALITY OF LIFE USING COMPSTAT: SPECIFIC ISSUES IN IMPLEMENTATION AND PRACTICE By Dr. Vincent E. Henry* I. INTRODUCTION The highly effective management model or paradigm that has come to be known as Compstat was first developed within the New York Police Department in 1994 as a process for managing crime and quality of life in New York City. Compstat was developed in response to a very specific set of immediate needs confronting the NYPD at that time: the compelling need to bring spiralling rates of crime and disorder to within manageable bounds and to refocus the NYPD on its primary mission of effectively ensuring public safety by reducing crime and violence. Since its introduction in early 1994, Compstat has proven to be highly effective in achieving the goals for which it was initially intended. Over time it has also evolved and grown from a basic and fairly rudimentary process involving the collection and analysis of crime data as well as a mechanism for ensuring accountability and information-sharing into a more complex, more nuanced, and eminently more effective management paradigm. As Compstat grew and changed over time, so too did the issues and problems challenging the NYPD. As crime and public disorder offences declined to within more manageable limits, the agency had the luxury of turning its attention to a range of other management problems and issues. While reducing crime and disorder and increasing public safety have never lost their prominence...
