Mobile System Paper
Technology changes every day. It is beginning to become intertwined with how he handle everyday tasks. One very important mobile application that has changed the way technology is being used and seen is the iOS. This software developed by Apple was technologically advanced to improve the user’s interaction with everyday tasks. Over the years the operating system has been expanded with many features that change how it is used in everyday use. The development of this application is being expanded more and more every day.
How is iOS used? iOS (previously iPhone OS originally released June 29, 2007) includes a user interface that is based on the concept of direct manipulation. Direct manipulation, which uses multi-touch gestures, has interface control elements which consist of sliders, switches, and buttons. The interface elements consist of sliders, switches, and buttons, which includes gestures such as swipe, tap, pinch, and reverse pinch. The features of iOS include a home screen, folders, notification center, and much more. There are 40 million users who have interpreted this mobile application into their everyday lives. The home screen, also known as “SpringBoard”, displays different application icons and a dock where users can pin frequently used apps. This screen appears whenever the user unlocks the device. Folders on iOS have developed since the introduction with iOS 4. Folders can hold up to nine applications, which can be named to the users liking for different categories. The notification center is a system notification management which features notifications delivered in small banners that appear over the mobile application’s status bar.
Improvement for Users
The mobile application has not only dramatically changed how users communicate with each other, but it also changed how they seek information and use tools to get things done in everyday life. Since the development of iOS several applications have been developed to improve the user interface. One application is Siri which is a knowledge navigator and a personal assistant which works as a very smart application. The application, which is activated and directed by the user’s spoken commands, can do a number of tasks including making a call or texting to someone, open a specific app, search the web (Safari), access sport information, find directions or locations, and answer the users general questions. iOS has also integrated multitasking so a user can do more than one task. Although the implementation in multitasking has been criticized for its approach, later development improved this. Multitasking provides all apps with the ability to run in the background until the user wants to use that certain application. Switching applications is made easy. By double clicking the home button on the device the user can see which applications are running in the background and can also scroll horizontally to browse through the apps. The user can close the applications in the background simply by dragging them up, similar to how WebOS handled cards.
Future Enhancements. Since technology and how customers see and perform everyday tasks changes rapidly, iOS gets a major update once a year by developer Apple to not only keep up with the demand of request, but also to enhance the way users do the tasks. The most recent update to the operating system was iOS 8 which included many new features such as Apple Pay, forward messaging, health app integration, continuity, and the ability to add third party keyboards. Future enhancements will likely include a humanized Siri, home screen widgets like the windows operating system, integration of better device locking features, integration for cars, multi-window app support, and much more.

In conclusion, this mobile application has drastically improved how users get certain tasks done. From the many features it brings to the table to how it improves the everyday lives of its users, this application will be here for many years to come if it keeps up with the demand that is being asked every year. From experience, it is by far one of the best mobile applications that has been developed in a while.
