Explain your reasons for seeking admission to Montclair State University, including what you believe are your academic strengths and interests. Be sure to explain any situations that may have had an impact, either positively or negatively, on your academic record.

When people speak of the largest in state universities, the name Montclair is almost always mentioned. To be completely honest, I had never thought that I would want to attend Montclair State University. By the word of mouth, the university was always well respected for its teaching education program. Therefore, I assumed that since I didn’t want to teach, it wasn’t the right school for me. However, after receiving an electronic mail invitation to an open house event, I was curious enough to dig deeper into the school’s programs. From my research, I found out that Montclair State University offered a BS/MS combined program to its high achieving computer science students. I immediately asked my resource parent for the permission to schedule the date to explore the university and registered for the open house. …show more content…
The campus employees were very professional and the guides had immense passion for the community. During the information session, Mr. Constantine Coutras informed me that Montclair State’s computer science program offers innumerable internship and cooperative education opportunities. I know that an education is not sufficient enough to guarantee job placement right out of college. As a student, who wants a strong curriculum that offers practical experience, I found that Montclair State University was, in fact, one of my top

Montclair State University Admission Essay

...Applying to college is a big deal, but finding the school that fits everything you ever dreamed of is an even bigger deal. Montclair State University is the school of my dreams and even just being considered is an honor within itself. I can foresee myself being a Red Hawk and I have for quite some time now. There are so many fantastic qualities to be found in this University that I couldn't even begin to list them and narrowing down that list to a few reasons has been very difficult. My top three reasons for wanting to attending Montclair State University would have to be the atmosphere, the filmmaking major, and how accepting the school is as a whole. I recently visited the Montclair State University campus for the first time in my life and I was completely taken back. It's so beautiful, and dare I say breathtaking. Something about it just makes the campus feel like home. So many of the students on the campus that day had nothing but good things to say about where they were. The most important thing, though, was how happy everyone seemed to...

Swot Newarknow

...S.W.O.T. Analysis Newark Now In the late 1960’s and early 1970’s Albert Humphrey led several convention at Stanford using a specific technique to analyze data from Fortune 500 companies. This technique eventually became known as SWOT analysis. What is a SWOT analysis? It is a strategic planning method that is used to evaluate the Strengths, Weaknesses/Limitations, Opportunities, and Threats involved in a project or in a business venture, and it can be one of the most valuable tools in management. Without it, the risks, as well as strengths, of a financial idea would be completely disregarded and unknown. Similarly, without it, the aspect of planning for achievement would be entirely made redundant. This type of analysis aids in determining the objective of the business venture or project and identifying both the favorable and unfavorable factors; both internal and external in order to achieve that objective. As mentioned, there are four main components of the SWOT Analysis; strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Strengths can be defines as those characteristics of the business, or project team that give it an advantage over others. Weaknesses (or Limitations) are characteristics that place the team at a disadvantage relative to others. Opportunities are external chances to improve performance in the environment. Finally, threats are external elements in the environment that could cause trouble for the business or project, and thus disrupt good work flow. I am...

...bureaucratic institution, providing the primary state response to crime and disorder. That was primarily a development of the 19th century and a reaction to the rapid social change of the industrial revolution and rapid urbanization. Prior to 1800, governments maintained order by a variety of means, local and national. One of the key historical debates concerns the effectiveness of these approaches and the degree of continuity between the premodern and modern police models. Around 1800 a small number of distinctively different types of police institution emerged. The French, under Napoleon, instituted the Gendarmerie, a state military police model. It evolved from the “Marechaussee,” which had had a dual military and civil function since the 16th century. The model was exported across Europe by Napoleon. The British developed two models. The first, set up to answer similar challenges to the Gendarmerie in France, was the Royal Irish Constabulary model. It was close to the state military model, but distinctively styled as part of the civil power of the state and subordinated to the Magistracy. The Irish model was subsequently exported to Britain’s colonies and became the basis of forces such as the Indian Police Service. The Metropolitan Police was consciously created as a local force with a uniform that was deliberately different from the military and a mission that focused on prevention of crime rather than the repression of disorder. This state civilian model became the basis for all...

Maritime Power of Chaina

...The Maritime Strategy of China in the Asia-Pacific Region Origins, Development and Impact HUANG, AN-HAO Submitted in total fulfilment of the requirements of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy August 2009 School of Social and Political Sciences Faculty of Arts The University of Melbourne Produced on archival quality paper ABSTRACT This thesis aims to examine how and why a continental-oriented China has shifted its maritime strategic orientation and naval force structure from its coast toward the far seas in an era of interdependent international system. Generally, China is an ancient continental land power with an incomplete oceanic awareness. With the transformation after the Cold War of China’s grand strategy from landward security to seaward security, maritime security interests have gradually become the most essential part of China’s strategic rationale. Undoubtedly, the quest for sea power and sea rights has become Beijing’s main maritime strategic issue. Given China’s escalating maritime politico-economic-military leverage in the Asia-Pacific region, its desire to become a leading sea power embodying global strategic thinking means that it must expand its maritime strategy by developing its navy and preparing for armed confrontation in terms of international relations realism. Conversely, Beijing’s maritime policy leads at the same time towards globalization, which involves multilateralism and strategic coexistence of a more pragmatic kind. This research...

Women

...12:06 Page 1 WOMEN, GENDER AND WORK People are not defined solely by their work, nor is it possible to ignore the effects of factors outside the workplace on a person's status at work. To seek equality at work without seeking equality in the larger society – and at home – is illusory. Thus an examination of the issues surrounding women, gender and work must be holistic. That means considering the role of productive work in life as a whole and the distribution of unpaid work as well as the myriad questions relating to employment. This important anthology brings together the thinking of leading philosophers, economists and lawyers on this complex subject. Selected recent articles from the multidisciplinary International Labour Review are assembled for the first time to illuminate questions such as how we should define equality, what equal opportunity means and what statistics tell us about differences between men and women at work, how the family confronts globalization and what is the role of law in achieving equality. There is an examination of policy – to deal with sexual harassment and wage inequality, for example, as well as part-time work, the glass ceiling, social security, and much more. A major reference on the best of current research and analysis on gender roles and work. Martha Fetherolf Loutfi has been Editor-in-Chief of the International Labour Review, a Senior Economist for the Brandt Commission and in the ILO’s Employment and Development...
