Mountain State Healthcare is into the healthcare industry. It is a regional system of hospitals in Colorado, Idaho, Utah and Wyoming. It started as a single hospital in the Salt Lake City Utah which was successful and profitable. Salt Lake City Hospital started purchasing other hospitals that were not profitable. Their name eventually was changed to Utah Health group. They ran into problems when a hospital was purchased in Denver, Colorado and a medical facility holding company was started in Salt Lake City, named Mountain State Healthcare. Administrative costs of MSH were higher than other medical holding companies, which was resulting in the reduction of profits which could be of benefit to the shareholders. There were several areas that could be consolidated in the administrative area that could cut cost. The VP of Technology Aaron Nelson decided to consolidate the billing system first out of the various areas pointed out by a consulting firm. This plan led to the creation of the Directorate of “medical Billing” and the hunt for the Director of the new directorate started. Out of the leading contenders Kyle Christiansen was selected. But the appointment of Kyle Christiansen did no good to the organization and the matter went from bad to worse. The employees’ work roles were cut, their jobs were changed and the flex time was …show more content…
The situation was such that there was 1 partly experienced employee left with colleen out of her 8 highly trained staff, there was no working system left with them and the Kyle’s system was incapable of handling the load of added billing.
