Mountain Top There is a place in the Sierra Nevada Mountains that had crystal clear lakes and a breath taking view. As you drive up you pass through a scenic view of Joshua tree national forest, which is not much of a forest. The trees that live there are spread out around the desert and look like a hairy cactus with two or more branches on them. As the desert gives way to mountainous terrain you get a sense of how small you really are compared to the great mountains range. While driving along you come across vast winding streams that pour into great lakes like Lake Mono which has a high level of salinity, it is nestled in the crater of an old volcano which has a small island in the middle which is the volcanic cone. In the winter time the snow is pure white and the air is crisp, the water from the streams comes from the lakes are above an elevation of 9,000 feet which makes it cool and clean. Just half way up the mountains you come across a very pristine view of hot springs, the bubbling mud and water gives off a pungent odor of sulfur and rotten eggs, the water that passes through this area is crystal clear from boiling the water as it passes. These places are the most remote areas that I like to travel to this place lets me get a good view of nature and a sense of peace. When its winter and the snow has fallen the ski season opens and the lakes freeze over, giving way to a winter wonderland great for a hot chocolate and getting cozy with your family or friends.
