...use of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with students who have Autism. Aims The aim of my project was to gain knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis and its effectiveness in working with children with Autism. My focus questions ask • What are the key principles underlying Applied Behaviour Analysis and how and why it benefits children who are autistic? • What is involved in setting up an Applied Behaviour Analysis program in the classroom environment? Both focus questions have helped me to investigate ABA, implement strategies that ABA employ and reflect on the program as a whole. I became part of a withdrawal program established for the purpose of intensive early intervention based on the principles of ABA. Harris, (2002 p19) explains “Applied Behavior Analysis takes basic principles in behaviour science and emphasizes the intensity that is needed for particular children”. As I progressed through my journey I discovered that ABA was indeed an extremely effective intervention program for autistic children. I felt that the whole process was a huge learning curve which in turn has had positive affects on my future practice. PARTS OF THE REPORT Rationale Explains why I embarked on this particular topic, process I used in decided topic, list of research strategies to achieve aims, Kemmis & McTaggarts (1988) Action Research Planner model Process -What were the key principles underlying Applied Behaviour Analysis and how and why this benefits...

...axiom can apply to me perfectly. In my elementary school, I won the second prize for XX and this cultivated in me the ambition to become a mathematician. However, as I grew up, I found my real interest was in chemistry. This interest led me to be fascinated with all the subjects related to it, Applied Chemistry during my undergraduate program and Chemical Engineering during my Master’s program. What is more, I am determined to take up chemical engineering as my lifelong pursuit. My formal advanced education in chemistry started with my undergraduate program in Applied Chemistry at the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of XX University. As is often said, the journey of exploring the realm of knowledge and probing into the unknown is infinite and strenuous. However, to me, the desire to fulfill ambitions and the joy from discoveries prevailed over any sense of hardship. My undergraduate program was as rewarding as it was joyful. I believed that the most important task as a undergraduate was to lay a firm groundwork in terms of the basic knowledge and experimental techniques so that more advanced studies could be pursued. Based on this awareness, I decided that a good job in all the core courses, including experiment courses, was primary. I tried to understand the principle underlying each chemical phenomenon and how each principle was derived. To do so, I had to understand the textbooks thoroughly and supplement my classroom education with information from the Internet...

...early age, I was encouraged to attend college by my parents, my grandparents, and a beloved uncle. They all taught me that obtaining an education, particularly a college education, was a privilege that had not always been afforded to people of color and that it should not be taken for granted. They also taught me that education was the best way to attain great success, no matter how I chose to define success. It did, however, take some time before I fully understood what they so passionately attempted to instill in me. It was not until I began working at Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU), in an environment of academia, that I understood the value and importance of education, and the incredible impact that being part of a learning environment has on a young mind. I have been fortunate to be able to utilize the management skills I learned from my undergraduate studies and through various employment opportunities after obtaining a master’s degree in business administration. I have enjoyed my experiences working in the business field, as diverse as they have been, and would love to teach business administration at the university level. I would like to pursue a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) degree so that I may be considered an authority within the business field and possibly teach at JCSU as an adjunct professor. Eventually, both my degree and my experiences will assist me in achieving the long-term goals that both my husband and I share of operating a non-profit...

...Grant on Elementary Physical Education Programs in One School District” 1. For my fifth research study analysis, I chose a study that focused on the impact of a grant on physical education in elementary schools. Many of the studies and research I have read led to one main issue, or one necessity, and that was money and funding to make the physical activity impactful in the schools and for the children. I wanted to understand how a grant either helped or didn’t help the improvement of physical education programs and the impacts it made for the schools. I found this research study through .OneSearch (EBSCO) via UNF and I searched “physical education in elementary schools”. To narrow down my search, I made...

...As I started to gather information from articles, journals and books I realized that there is a considerable amount of primary and secondary data on Educational Research. I have concluded that Educational Research can be viewed as a variety of methods used to evaluate various aspects of education inclusive of teaching methods, classroom management, student learning and teacher training. The aim, however, of educational research is simply to provide pertinent information so as to improve the quality of the learning process. In my opinion educational research, using basic theoretical approaches and applied research, has many related issues and has contributed greatly to the overall development and consequently improvement of the education system. The entire experience of reading about educational research has improved my knowledge and highlighted that writing a research paper involves a lot of steps. First, you need to choose the subject or topic. This is really difficult. When choosing a topic: the target audience needs to be identified and it should be one of interest. Research is a chance to gain more knowledge about a subject or area. The topic should not be too broad and may change when information is being gathered. In other words, a research problem needs to be identified. Enough information on the general topic must be gathered in the beginning stage of the process to be able to find an angle that is really worth writing about. Additionally, I have learned that a research...

...[pic] Reading Program Action Plan John Rhine Northcentral University Language Arts and Reading ED 7005 Dr. Little January 09, 2015 Abstract Reading comprehension among students in today’s society is of high importance. The ability to be college ready in reading and writing categories is a need that many students struggle with at the college level. This paper will focus on an action plan to alleviate those needs and allow for students to be better prepared for future challenges in reading and writing that await them. This paper will address deficiencies, challenges, and strategies to improve the literacy program at Anywhere ISD in Anywhere, Texas. Reading Program Action Plan A reading program plan should be determined by meeting the needs of the students it plans to serve (Ediger, 2010). In determining an action plan for meeting the students of my school there are several key factors I have to evaluate. School funding issues are prevalent in every state in America and in order for this to be effective funding issues need to be established. For the sake of argument this reading program action plan is built on the assumption that funding is not an issue but student success is of more importance. This action plan will focus on 8th grade students at Anywhere ISD in Anywhere, Texas. Based upon data, two thirds of 8th graders read below grade level (Martello, Martello, Modder man, Peterson, & Pan, 2013). Gunning (2013) suggests ten principles in implementing a successful...

...“Human resource management refers to the practices and policies you need to carry out the personal aspects of your management job, specifically, acquiring, training, appraising, rewarding, and providing a safe, ethical, and fair environment for your company’s employees” (Dessler, 2009, p.2). According to Dessler, such practices and policies include recruiting applicants, selecting candidates, train employees (new and current), job analysis, and planning. The major functional areas of Human Resources Management are planning, staffing, employee development, and employee maintenance. These areas and their contributions share the same objective to furthering organizational goals. In the planning function, the number and types of employees are determined. Planning requires collection and analysis of information to predict needs and supplies. Research is an essential part of this function. “Job analysis is the procedure through which you determine the duties of these jobs and the characteristics of the people who should be hired for them. The analysis produces information on the job’s activities and requirements. This information is then used for developing job descriptions (what the job entails) and job...

...concise academic statement of your plans for graduate study, your career goals, and how MSU's graduate program will help you meet your career and educational objectives. As I imagine my career plans today, it should be a combination of professional data manipulation and statistical modeling analysis to dealing with practical problems, which encourage me to pursue a higher degree in Statistics. Because some useful statistics topic in my undergraduate education were either only brought up for a definition or not covered, besides the missing value imputation method, the graphical Markov models, fixed and random effects, and variance analysis are also some of the topics I wish to learn in my graduate study. Besides advanced statistical methodology, I am particularly motivated to develop the links between statistics and computer science, although I have made every effort in studying Statistic software, like SPSS, Eviews, and Clementine, and I use my spare time learning R and C language by myself, I think there is still long way to go. I plan to further improve my programming ability, especially the options and programming techniques I didn’t know before, like the combination of C++ and R will make the loop in R run faster. With the huge amounts of data collected in the worldwide everywhere in every second, the marriage of theories, the effective methodology of numerical analysis and computer science becomes more urgent and important than ever. I believe a good statistician need...
