...texting. Texting is a different way of communicating instead of calling someone. You can type a message on your phones keyboard, put in an address (as in a phone number) to who you would like to send a message to and press send and that person will receive the message on their phone. Of course either person can choose to just call at any time, but more than likely the text messages will go back in forth. Texting is popular now a day considering it is a teen’s favorite way to talk to each other. Some teens bully others through texting and is currently one of the most common ways of bullying today. Forward, are types of messages that you can send to someone to see what he or she may think of you, to see if they have something to ask you or even to tell you about an important, even that might be coming up. Some cell phones, but not all, have internet. Like my phone is an Android and you can hook up to someone’s WiFI if it’s not locked and you can check your Facebook, e-mail, or even look up videos on You-Tube. For me I go and check my Facebook like almost 24/7 because I am a Facebookaholic. You can upload pictures to your friends and family if you wanted to. Having Internet on your phone comes in handy so you can look up a word that you don’t know or find out what the weather is going to be like. Checking your e-mail is easy also because...

...of the few fruits crops normally grown from seed and few improved cultures exist at least in commercial production. Cashews are now the #1 tree nut crops in the world. Average yields worldwide are about 600lbs/acre (Fruit-Crops.com). Planter Cashews was produced in 1906 which later partner with Kraft Foods they are transported from India as raw nuts which are then coated salted and package in house India is 7486 miles away. Vast movement of food can cause a problem because it allows nations to make error by transporting the movement of food. As a result people can become sick or suffer illness from wrong products which generally results in recalls of food. Then there can also be a benefit of the movement of food because it allows you to experience food from other nations which otherwise we would be able to experience without traveling to that nation and it also can produce great revenue for that nation when you purchase their goods. The benefit of buying locally is awesome because you receive fresh fruits and vegetables grown right in your area there and there are no additives in the fruits and vegetables because they are provided fresh. Also I feel you are spending money in your area which in return allows local farmers to support their families. I don’t think there is much drawback unless the farmers produce bad items. Yes I do purchase locally because we have a farmer market here which allows you to purchase local grown items and I enjoy going because the fruits and vegetables...

...holidays I always take time out of my schedule to go up to the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina. My grandfather and grandmother live in Jefferson, a very small town in the western corner of North Carolina. I love going to the mountains because it gives me the opportunity to spend time with my family, but also help others. During my stay at the mountains I visit the senior center, cook, and attend music. All of these things are unique and special to me. One of my favorite things to do while in the mountains is to visit the senior center. When I visit the senior center with my grandmother we always play the card game Samba with the other ladies there. Samba is a form of Canasta that requires a lot of risky moves. However, drawing a good hand is never a bad thing. I adore talking with the senior ladies because of the knowledge and history they have to share. The ladies always tell me stories about their high school experiences and college majors...

...My Eating Plan Abstract The food pyramid can change a family’s life in one week. As you read you will how one family has come together to eat healthier, do fun physical activity as a family, and how they learned that just eating healthier made a big different in one person that is ill. My Eating Plan The three day eating plan that I entered at the beginning of class showed that I wasn’t getting the nutrition’s needed for my height and weight. The food that I entered, the pyramid showed for day one that my milk intake was 83%, meat and beans intake was 89.0%, vegetables intake was 80%, fruits intake was 0%, and gains intake was 35%. For day 2 milk intakes was 73%, meat and beans intake was 0%, vegetables intake was 176%, fruits intake was 0%, and grains intake was 138%. For day 3 milk intakes was 0%, meat and beans intake was 71%, vegetables intake was 12%, fruits intake was 0%, and grains intake was 33%. I wasn’t eating right and didn’t even know it. With my illness it is important to eat right in order to live a longer healthier life. I found that I needed more of each food group, but I was lacking fruit and dairy the most. I have worked out my food plan for the week as I did this last week, and I am allowed 1800 calories a day. The 1800 calories a day will help me eating right and losing the extra weight that I have on me. I must also have at least 150 minutes per week of physical activity. I should have been taken in 1800 calories a day to head towards a healthier...

...This year was my second year as a highschool Cheerleader, the only sport i’m good at. Being a sophomore in cheer I gained more Leadership skills from teaching and guiding the underclassmen. I learned many new cheer Stunts at camp. A newer, better version, in my opinion, of Jumanji came out this year, starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black. It was hilarious! Thor: Ragnarok also came out this year and they ruined his perfect hair by cutting it off!! I made sure that I did not miss out on any of the fun at the four high school Dances this school year. My mom threw me a surprise Sweet 16 Birthday party this past fall. “Daaaang, shorty let me get them digits!” is what Roylin said after seeing a very hot guy while shopping after cheer camp. “7/11” by...

...To begin, I was proactive in trying to improve my nutrition during week four. I took time to think about what foods I enjoy and also the foods my family enjoys (because I cannot force my lifestyle and food choices on them…it had to be a group effort). I planned meals, with the help of my wife and kids, for the week and then acquired the needed items to prepare the meals. My family and I agreed not to eat out during the four day period to help me meet my nutritional goals for the week. Fruits and vegetables were made available and left in plain sight to encourage consumption of them instead of other snack choices. Believe it or not, it actually worked. I was able to consume five servings of fruits and vegetables. I had to make a conscious effort to eat the fruit instead of chocolate pudding (one of my favorite snacks) or granola bars. In addition, I had to prepare snacks like carrots, so I can take to work. Once they were the only choice, I had no issues eating them. Overall, I reduced my caloric intake, which combined with my regular exercise, resulted in me losing two pounds. My fat consumption was also reduced…definitely a bonus…which also contributed to my weight loss. My cholesterol level dropped but my sodium intake increased. This left me confused because I made minor changes in an attempt to have a healthier diet. Regardless, I need to start to buy food with lower sodium content. Currently, my sodium intake is twice as much as the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA). Choosing...

...adjustments need made later or if I am on the right track. A food diary is an excellent way to track food intakes and calorie intakes. I input my food intakes from Monday to Wednesday and compared them with a previous intake analysis from six weeks ago. The new analysis was encouraging, my nutritional intakes improved drastically especially in the area of protein which was a previous struggle. My vegetable intake has increased to a good level; my whole grain intake has increased to a good level, and my protein intake increased. The new analysis did still show a need for improvement in dairy and fruit. My weekly intake of dairy and fruit has improved however, my daily intakes are still lacking. I need to work to find alternates methods of receiving adequate dairy intakes such as supplements, purchasing soymilk, or yogurts. I also need to continue to work at including fruit in my daily diet, I can grab an apple or banana with my breakfast bar I take to work with me. I purchased kiwi for a snack I can slice one up and include this as a snack option. Monday on the food diary entries, I consumed 125% of required whole grains, 116% of required vegetables, 87% fruit and 164% protein, unfortunately 0% on calcium, and stayed below my calorie limit. Tuesday I did not do as well with all my intakes with whole grains of 146%, vegetables 70%, fruit 87%, calcium 8%, and protein at...

...I asked my boyfriend, Tom, to complete the second collage depicting my personality. I chose him to do this because I feel he knows me very well now that we have been dating for two years. Our collages differed in a few ways but had the same general themes. We both included photos of The Beatles, a yin yang symbol, and the beach. We both included these three items because The Beatles are my all time favorite band, the yin yang sign is one of my favorite symbols, and the beach is my favorite place to be. I suppose this could indicate that I am more of a calm, and boring person. I don’t have any crazy hobbies such as race car driving, or skydiving...yet. Some differences in our collages include the amount of photos on each, and the types of photos that were on each. My collage was covered edge to edge with photos while Tom’s consisted of a few photos spread out across the page. Also, on the collage Tom made he seemed to focus more on my interests in foods. He included a picture of fruit, gummy bears, garlic, and pickles. These are some of my favorite foods. On my collage I focused more on my musical interests, and hobbies. This included: The Beatles, Bob Marley, Modest Mouse, tennis, scuba diving, and shopping for dresses. I found it interesting to look at the differences between the two collages. I feel the difference in amount of photos displays the overachiever part of my personality. I tend to go overboard on projects and other things in life because I am a bit of a...
