...Goguen 1 Evangeline Goguen Professor Laurie Cooper English 1041 15 October 2013 Is My House My Home? For as long as I can remember I’ve lived in the same 100 year old house. It was the place where I experienced so many firsts: my first play date, my first sleepover, my first kiss, and my first heartbreak. I never thought I’d be excited to leave, but as the years passed, that house didn’t feel like home anymore. The house sat on 5 acres of land; I had a view of the field in the backyard from my bedroom window. I would sit and stare at the long grass, as the wind would make it dance. The front flowerbeds were always weeded no matter how much it hurt my mother’s back. The pain was worth it to see the vibrant colors of spring’s first bloom. In the backyard, an old mice-infested barn that sat there uselessly was converted into a cottage. It was like a home away from home. Moving on to the inside of the house, through that annoying door that never closed properly, there was the kitchen. The yellow walls made the place seem cheerful and the cherry wood cabinets added some warmth. There was no dinning room; there was simply an eat-in kitchen. Many dinners, few that were satisfying, have been served on that glass top table. On the other side of the kitchen, two rocking chairs facing each other were placed beside the window. We were a family of three so it was a race to see who would have to pull up an extra chair. I always lost since I was the child. We had countless conversations...

...My Home: Disturbed The smell of flesh was seeping out from under the front door when I arrived home with a friend at 2:00 AM that night, a year ago this week. Minnie was dead and I knew who killed her right away. Her little body from her front legs to her back legs was torn wide open. She was nearly severed in half. The top of her head had been chewed all the way to her skull. The clean, white slate of bone was glistening from across the room. Long brush strokes of deep red covered the surface of the hard wood floors. Bits and pieces of Minnie decorated the walls and the white doors along the hallway like little trinkets. Bookshelves full of novels with their spines exposed were splattered with body fluids and evidence of a life that had painfully ended. Whatever occurred in my home was violent, brutal, and downright disturbing. Zoe was a pit-bull mix I had rescued six years earlier. She and Minnie, a Jack Russell Terrier, had been living together since I rescued Zoe. Zoe was not an aggressive dog and I raised her from the time she was a little, lanky, awkward puppy. I took her to work with me at the bar often and everyone knew and loved her there. Those who knew Zoe were shocked to hear that she had brutally killed Minnie. I stood next to Minnie’s body thanking the heavens that I was high as a kite. I would not have been able to stomach the scene if I were sober. My friend stood behind me in shock and confused by my reaction. I did not cry, scream, or get...

...1101/48 10 September 2012 My Dream Home My dream home that I design will be all that I imagine and more. It will be a three bedroom, Ranch-styled, brick home with a three car garage and a massive double front door. Some of the interior features will include a chef’s kitchen and spa-like on-suites. Outdoors will consist of meandering pathways through colorful shade gardens that lead up to a flagstone terrace that overlooks the in-ground swimming pool. The ultimate chef’s kitchen in my home will have cool black granite countertops lining the walls, breakfast bar, and island. A double-oven and pasta sink is a must for an Italian inspired kitchen. An oversized copper sink with the apron showing would be housed around the breakfast bar for easy access. The warm glow from the pendant lighting surrounding the kitchen with rich copper undertones sets the perfect mood lighting as I cook delicious creations with sinful aromas. Afterwards, I can wash my cares away by visiting one of the spa-like on-suites just off of any one of the bedrooms. Each one includes a walk-in shower with stunning rainfall showerheads and travertine tiles. If I prefer a soak, I can slide into a warm bubble bath in one of the copper claw-foot tubs situated by a picture window overlooking the many gardens. Once my senses have been renewed, I can wander outdoors to peaceful surroundings. ...

...Malaysia My First Home Scheme (Skim Rumah Pertamaku) The “Skim Rumah Pertamaku” or My First Home Scheme was first announced in the 2011 Budget by the Malaysian Government. This is one of the good initiatives taken by the government to help young adults earning RM5,000 per month or less to get 100% financing from Banks to purchase their first home. If you have just got yourself a job which pays RM2,800 and assuming if you save 20% of your salary per month, only by the third year, you will have RM20,160 to pay for the down payment for a property worth RM200,000. (Forget about annual increment and let’s just assume your pay is stagnant for three years) Ask yourself these two questions: 1. Are you able to set aside 20% of your salary monthly, dedicatedly? 2. Would the property that you wish to purchase be worth the same three years down the road? For many young working adults, the answer to the above question is no. A bank staff we interviewed related the story in 2007 when she started working, a decent condominium in Petaling Jaya was about RM250,000. After saving RM25,000 by the third year, that same property no longer cost RM250,000. At that point, she said she would never have saved enough to purchase her first home unless her salary grew exponentially to keep pace with the inflation of house prices. Lucky for her, by her 3rd year, it did. But how many young adults can expect their salaries to grow exponentially? This is especially hard to imagine for those who just...

...My Home Finance 1) Introduction My Home Finance Limited is a Community Development Finance Institution (CDFI) established by the National Housing Federation, supported by Housing Associations (HAs) to tackle the problem of financial exclusion. It was launched in August 2010 to offer small sum credit, bank accounts and savings accounts to housing association tenants and others who can otherwise only access loans at a very high cost from sources such as payday lenders, doorstep lenders and loan sharks. This first phase of the business was funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) housing associations and Wates Family Enterprise Trust. In addition a credit line was secured from the Royal Bank of Scotland. MHF is seeking further finance to consolidate grow its West Midlands operations and expand into other regions of England. 2) Features (Business model) The Federation wanted to establish whether housing associations could lead a major expansion in the provision of more affordable credit. As well as enabling many more people to be helped than are currently assisted by third sector lenders, the emphasis was to explore models of delivery that would be less reliant on large ongoing levels of public subsidy. MyHome Finance (MHF) can help fill the void for many (though by no means all) financially excluded customers by offering credit at a more affordable interest rate that is suitably priced for risk of default. It is envisaged that MHF will be a partnership...

F.eks.

Oni ga pokušaše upitati nešto, no duh iščezne. Horacije kaže kako je duh stvarno nalik na mrtvog kralja, te da je to sigurno znak da će Dansku snaći neka nesreća. Priča im kako je kralj Hamlet u borbi ubio norveškog kralja Fortinbrasa te tako dobio sve njegove zemlje, a sad se Fortinbras mlađi želi osvetiti za sve to i dobiti natrag očeve zemlje. To je razlog što je Danska na oprezu i ima mnogo straže. Zato sigurno i dolazi Hamletov duh. Tako su se i pred sam Cezarov pad otvorili grobovi, mrtvaci poizlazili, pojavio se komet vatrena repa i pomrčina zavlada svijetom. Uto se vraća duh. Trojica ga htjedoše zadržati, no pijetao kukurikne, pukne zora i duh nestane. Horacije, Marcelo i Bernardo složiše se da će o svemu tome izvijestiti kraljevića Hamleta. 2. prizor: Svečana dvorana u dvorcu. ...My Home State Fruit Grown deep down in the south lives the most delicious and incredibly nutritious fruit, the Georgia peach. The peach was originally grown in China. Now, Georgia is home to a peach so rich in antioxidants and full of vitamins. The first peaches were planted in Georgia during the eighteenth century and the industry has flourished ever since. This home grown fruit happens to be the best in all the country. There is no other like it. Other drupe fruit are taste great, yet none of them live up to the high standards of the Georgia peach. Down in Georgia, where I was born and raised, is where I was first introduced to the infamous Georgia peach. Peaches were grown nearly everywhere in Georgia; in fact, there were a few peach trees in my backyard. If there was not any trees nearby, you could easily buy them in stores or from a vendor on the side of one of the country roads. On hot summer days after my brother and I would play, a peach was always my snack of choice. I would hop off the swing set and jog down the sandy pathway until I came upon the tall, skinny round trunk of the tree. The peaches were a little further up than I could reach; therefore I would stretch on my tip toes and examine branch by branch until I saw the mother load of all peaches. I would feel through the bright luscious leaves until found just the right peach. When I would bite into its firm yet gentle flesh, sweet juices would drip down my face. The country summer breeze mixed with the sugary...

...Growing up as an immigrant in a densely cultured family definitely paved me the way to high setting goals. I was raised in a orderly environment with a strict basis of rules and a strict basis of egyptian culture drawn on my back. I come from a basic understanding of sacrificing immigrant parents who left their home of egypt to a new foreign country with only the knowledge of the freedom and future their son can achieve in this greatly sought after promise land. I was born in Alexandria, Egypt and lived there with my mom for 3 years while my dad moved to New York to make a name for himself and a foundation for his son and wife to come to. Sadly New York didn't work out for my dad and he came back to Egypt and we moved to texas all together....

...Daniels Essay 2 As I analyze my interpretation of this week’s poem selection. I am bringing forth my thoughts, feelings and understandings of what I have read. This week’s poem that I have chosen is a “Woman’s Work”, by Julia Alvarez. As I begin to pick out the poem that I desired. I had to ask questions in analyzing what I was going to read. Questions to help me understand what the author is trying to say. On pages 766-767, Alvarez gives her description of a working woman in a poetic form. From my understanding, in line 1, Alvarez is stating that a woman work is not a high art (Alvarez, Pg. 766). However, in detail she explains the different types of challenges the character known as “the woman”, who struggles as she does her basic routine of cleaning. As I ponder on this week’s readings, I find myself thinking on how my Ancestors had to work in the cotton field and their master’s home. Also, tending to their needs. They really went through a lot and some even died so that there next generation could not experience the hardship. What I am stating, is that there comes a time in someone’s home that an individual has to sacrifice their lives so that their children can have better ones. People may not like the situation that there in but they are seeing the big picture and that is the future that lies ahead. In line 3, Alvarez states that the woman is keeping her house as if the address was their heart. Like the saying “your home is where your heart” (Alvarez, Pg...
