...inside. I parked near a buggy return and pulled the shopping list out of my purse. I double-checked it to make sure that everything I needed was on the list and I got out of the car with my purse on my shoulder. I was going to get a buggy from the return, but I noticed there was a used diaper in one of the buggies and it grossed me out. I bypassed the buggy return and headed for the entrance of the establishment. I got a buggy from inside of the lobby and made sure that I sprayed the handle off with a pocket sized spray bottle of Lysol. I kept it in my purse for times like these. I strolled up and down the aisles and picked up the items that...

...This was my question for the essay. I knew going in to this exploratory research assignment that I would be challenged to think outside the box and ask problematic questions about relevant topics. I thought about it and decided to write my paper on something that is familiar to me. I wanted it to be about something that I am experiencing at this very moment. After reading through more and more of the assignment it occurred to me I had never really researched an issue like this. I’ve been listening to a lot of Politics lately and shocked to hear stuff about what is happening to our country. I then found the Embry Riddle Aeronautics University’s HUNTS library. I never knew anything about APA style writing and to be honest, at the beginning, it is a lot to learn in a very fast way, in a short period of time. I found myself questioning if I could even complete this assignment, let alone this course. I have never been one to give up though, at least not in this stage of my life. Anyway, since I did that HUNTS Library training online I thought, HEY! This could be useful to find good information about issues that I hold dear, issues that I believe are borderline and just about to go over the edge, into the never ending black hole of immorality. I could finally research my question in a “scholarly” way. That word is a new one to my vocabulary! Sometimes it is hard to get into the zone and just write. So after I find how useful the HUNTS Library is, I began my research. Since my question...

...For my Genius Hour project my topic is about school. Since the beginning of their life people asked the question that made everyone think. That is “why we have to go to school” which everyone thought once in their lives. I changed that into “who created school” because that is basically the same thing. This has been on my mind the past few weeks since school have started again and more work than ever. It have always wondered how the world would be like if we did not have to go to school. They teach you so many things you might not use like how to type an essay in MLA format. As a chemist, do I need to write an essay about my findings. All I need to do is write notes on my experiments. If you do have to do a speech about your finding, make it up as you go. If you were smart you can make up an essay in a few minutes. I can rant on for hours talking about all the ways I don’t use all the stuff we do in school but now we would continue to my findings....

...Even though writing class is not my favorite class of all time, since I have always had issues with writing due to things like grammar errors and fragment sentences. Thus, it is never easy for me to form a five-paragraph essay that would constricted my ideas for so long, and yet would cost me more than a week to write. However, during this semester, I have learned multiple things in English composition 1304. I have learned how to think outside of the box on every assignment I wrote. I have become a better writer, at least in my mind. The different writing assignments in this class were very unique and were helpful to me using research which includes how to use appropriate MLA formatting, and how to find and properly use different sources. Also,...

...San Mateo, Kristina Marie (.) Ent102 MANILA FAME Reaction Paper Last Sunday, me and my co-entrep students went to MANILA FAME which was held in SMX Convention Center. As I walk through those furniture and handcrafts, I was really amazed on what I saw. I was stunned and really delighted. To think that there`s so much things you can do in an object as long as you have wide imagination and creativity, you can design and even put up a very unique thing that can change the world`s perception in furniture and handicrafts. And in that object you created you can earn a lot of money. In just a simple chair, a very simple chair, you can earn 300,000, just like that. Seriously, it invites people to sit and appreciate the art and the couches with oversized pillows make you want to linger. Those seats look comfortable. The tables I saw are super cool. I also appreciate the bed, the unique clothes made of pineapple, the handicrafts. Very nice. And of course, who wouldn`t notice the chandeliers (can we call it that?) is awesome. The wires are not as noticeable as I thought they would be. I really like the use of the unique couches, how they match the designs. Such a great idea. There certainly is a lot to see. And, I think the large pillows (with the printed animal on it) are pretty. And the chairs, it reminds me of antique stores whose owners place objects on the chairs to discourage customers from sitting on them (usually with good reason). Upon seeing the designs of the chairs, I...

...-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eat Your Heart Out | Paper Magazine Does a Super (Duper) Market Culture, Food By JANE HERMANJuly 13, 2012, 1:30 pm 2 Comments Paper Magazine's Super (Duper) Market Atisha Paulson Brucie Atisha Paulson Scribe Winery Atisha Paulson 123Loading “I’m crying. And dying,” Paper magazine’s Kim Hastreiter says halfway through the tour of her Super (Duper) Market, which will be open Friday through the weekend in Manhattan’s meatpacking district. She is completely elated and, more important, satiated, by what’s in store: “The best ice cream (Humphry Slocombe), the best cornbread (Red Rooster), the best olive oil (Sciabica’s),” she says. Here, at what is a smorgasbord of carefully procured and exquisitely packaged food stuff, all the stars of Hastreiter’s bicoastal culinary-craft world collide. The vendors hail mostly from Brooklyn (Empire Mayonnaise, Morris Kitchen, Mile End) and California’s Bay Area (Boulettes Larder, Modern Appealing Clothing, Tartine Bakery and Cafe). “I’m kind of a maven, and these are really my favorite things,” says Hastreiter pointing to the Tang Brothers noodle stand. “Those are, like, the best noodles.” Walk through the mart and you might sample homemade mozzarella on honey-drizzled toast from the Cobble Hill restaurant Brucie, buy a Sol LeWitt star bowl (Hastreiter’s pick) at...

...much more than stuff about writing in the discipline. I have learned here how to write and express myself, how to think for myself, and how to find the answers to the things that I don't know. Most importantly I have learned how important writing is. In most of my classes I did read, explain, and write papers; however, I quickly found out that there was so much more to it. One specific experience I had was being able to write an effective paragraph. English 102 also taught me how powerful the written word and language can be. It’s either you want to impress or express. Words tell so much. I know that my ability to write and express my ideas, thoughts and knowledge has grown stronger. I have always struggled to put my thoughts on paper in a manner that is coherent and correct according to assignments. I can remember being told numerous times by my teacher, Ms. Dannilyn Macato to "organize your thoughts" or "provide more support and examples". These are the things that I have worked on and improved over this semester and I feel that my work shows this. The papers I wrote when I first started with this subject were bland and short. In these early papers, I would just write about certain things that were not so organized. Writing in the discipline really helped me shed that bad habit and write better papers with better ideas. I have learned how to write various styles of papers in different forms and different fields. I feel confident that I could write a paper about most anything...

...Reflection Paper At first I thought doing community service was just a waste of time. I had better things to do like do something with my friends. I thought my first hour of community service was going to be terrible. I was going to work for Father Pat stuffing bulletins. On the car ride there I would not stop complaining. When I finished helping Father Pat, I felt different. I felt good about what I did even though it was something small. For the next couple of weeks every Saturday my brother and I would stuff the bulletins. Every time I stuffed the bulletins I had that same warm feeling. My brother and I still stuff the bulletins today. My biggest epiphany came after I helped plant flowers in front of the church with elderly citizens. I realized that people have two perspectives in life. They either only look out for themselves or they help other people. Before I started doing community service really only looked out for myself. I helped my family but if I did not know you I most likely would not help you. I did not know any of the elderly citizens. They opened up to me and told me some very funny stories. I enjoyed helping them very much. I now try to help at least one person a day. I learned that I can help someone from doing small things like opening a door for them or helping them with their homework. For community service I also helped put up and take down the Christmas tree. All this community service has helped me to learn that I can make a big difference in the...

...Unit 3 – Project Polarity Paper (Individual and Team) Polarity Paper (Individual and Team) 1. Polarities and polarity management A. Before you can learn about how the polarity management model works, you must first be able to understand what polarities actually are. Polarities are issues that are continuous and you can’t solve them or avoid them. Polarities are opposites which function best when both are present to balance with each other (Johnson, 1998). It is important to remember that a polarity is different than a problem, because a problem is something you solve and a polarity is something that you address and manage (Caldwell, 2011). Since this is the case you must find a different approach to deal with polarities or else things will just end up worse than they were. When using the polarity management model properly, it will make it much easier for those in charge to manage the polarities that they are dealing with. It also works the best when you It might be a little confusing at first for someone new to use the polarity management model efficiently, but it will help out tremendously when they do figure it out and they can handle the polarities they acknowledged. The most important thing to remember though is that polarities can’t be solved or fixed; the only way to deal with them is to find the best way to manage them efficiently (Caldwell, 2011). 2. ...Lidia Kim Ethics Economics and Ecology The Story of Stuff The Story of Stuff, true to its title, is about stuff: where it comes from, what we do with it, and how we dispose of it when we don't want it anymore. Using a combination of statistical evidence, anecdotes, and case studies, Annie Leonard walks us through the world we are living in in terms of consumption. She breaks the cycle of consumption down into five parts and devotes a chapter of the book to each: extraction, production, distribution, consumption, and disposal. Each section of the book tells of the environmental and health dangers of our current practices. While Leonard does try to tell us about the good things that are going on in each chapter and includes promising laws and possible helpful individual actions in appendices, the overall tone of the book is dark. She highlight’s our countries’ wrongdoings, and offers theoretical Leonard begins her journey of “stuff” with the process of extraction. The first chapter deals with how, where and what resources are collected in order to begin their arduous transformation into everyday consumer items like cell phones, clothing, and paper. Our precious stuff would be nothing without the raw material necessary to create them. Leonard organizes all basic resources into 3 simple categories: tree, water and rock. With each of the categories, The Story of Stuff explores a plethora of environmental and moral concerns in harvesting. She outlines the ecological, economic...
