...education. Although advocates of digitized information believe that millennial students will embrace the paperless classroom, this is not proving to be the case. This research addresses gaps in our understanding of student resistance to giving up paper-based learning resources by examining attributes of the paper textbook that are perceived as necessary for knowledge transfer and that are not present in digital information modalities. Method/Design and Sample. Phase 1 used focus groups to identify the content of items that were incorporated into a quantitative instrument in phase 2. A sample of 386 undergraduate students taking marketing courses at a Canadian urban university completed the online survey. We then used Confirmatory Factor Analysis to test the factors linked to resistance to discontinuing paper textbooks. Results. Students’ resistance to giving up the paper textbook positively relates to the way in which the paper textbook facilitate learning and study processes, is permanent and under the students’ control during and after the course is finished. The fluid and dynamic nature of digital content compared to the more consistent and predictable nature of information on paper appears to be a barrier to the acquisition of knowledge for the purpose of assessment. Value to Marketing Educators. This study provides insights into the underlying reasons for student resistance to discontinuing paper-based learning resources, and benefits marketing educators and developers of...

...Self Analysis In this essay, I’m sharing with you some of the struggles I endured as a teenager and explain how I learned from the lot of mistakes I made. Looking back and reflecting on my life I can now see that I have made many mistakes. Most of my mistakes I have made were due to my lack of patience and never listening to the older family members. If I had listened to their words of wisdom, I would have saved myself a lot of trouble and headaches. Instead of taking their advice, I took my own path and did things my way. Just like any teenagers, I want to spend my time doing crazy and stupid things. I hate being nagged by my parents. They always want me to clean the house, wash dishes, study and all the crazy stuffs I hate. They always said that “This is for your own good” and I got so irritated every time I hear those words. As a teenager, I want to do things on my own. I want to enjoy life. Play arcade games, hang-out with friends, go somewhere. It seemed as if the more I did not listen, the deeper the hole I dug myself. I remember my mother told me “What goes around comes around.” I started dating a lot of girls around when I turned thirteen. I did not take into consideration the feelings of the girls that I talked to at all. I met a girl and fell in love with her but she didn’t feel the same way about me as I felt as I felt about her. My heart was broken and all I could think about was the lecture I received from my mother about karma. And now,...

...Choosing Your Path in Life Kayla Plencner ENG125: Introduction to Literature Instructor Hannah Martin September 23, 2013 Choosing Your Path in Life In a person’s life, many decisions have to be made, like the decision to get your homework done now or put it off until later, with the possibility of it being late or falling behind. We all face the decision on which path(s) to choose in life. Robert Frost’s 1916 poem “The Road Not Taken” demonstrates how the poet emphasizes ambiguity, which is “the use of language that has more than one meaning, creating uncertainty about how to interpret what has been stated,” (Clugston, 2010) that is associated with life choices. He also uses a metaphor, which is “an image that imaginatively compares one thing with another, showing how each has qualities that resemble the other,” (Clugston, 2010) by comparing the two roads with life choices of right or wrong. This poem captured my interest because it represents the decisions people make every day and the after effect that these choices may have on one’s life. In this essay I will use the formalist approach, which is “most widely used in literary criticism; it focuses on the form and development of the literary work itself,” (Clugston, 2010) to better explain my analysis. The poem is made up of four stanzas that include five lines each and the rhyme scheme of the poem is ABAAB. Although this is a short poem that does not take away from the fact that it has powerful meaning. People may...
