The analysis looks at the total team and reviewed the information such as games played, field goals attempt and percentage, free throw attempts and percentage, blocks and steals. The data was obtained from the NBA website. For the 2013 NBA stats there were 30 teams that played on the average of 82 games. Based on statistical analysis, the most important keys for team success in basketball and their relative weights, in parentheses, are field goal percentage, turnovers, offensive rebounds, free throw attempts and percentage, blocks and steals. Coaches are always looking for a better understanding of what makes up a winning team. This knowledge would help them improve the team statistics in the areas listed...

...understanding that a healthy and happy work force is also more loyal and productive. Therefore, the free flu vaccination is a great investment but can the benefit of that investment be quantified? Additionally, how much on average do companies benefit by offering flu vaccinations to their employees? Research To quantify the benefit to the company per vaccinated employee and analyzing the financial impact of offering free flu vaccinations, the following probabilities were studied: * Probability that a person will get the flu * Probability that a person who has been vaccinated will still get the flu * Percentage of the population who get a flu shot each year * Number of work days missed by a person that contracts the flu (on average) * Retail cost of one flu vaccination * Average cost of an hour of labor for my employer Research Findings To collect the research data, I read flu vaccine information provided by the Centers for Decease Control and Prevention (CDC). They indicate that, in a typical year, the vaccine can reduce the probability of contracting the flu by 70% to 90% in healthy adults younger than 65 years of age. I’ll use the midrange which is 80%. (CDC, http://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/qa/vaccineeffect.htm) The CDC also says that on a typical year, between 5% and 20% of the overall population in the United States gets the flu if not vaccinated. I’ll use the midrange, which would be 12.5%. (CDC, http://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/qa/disease.htm) A...

...Video Analysis Through out the course we have been wrestling with how the media is made and who influences it. A lot of time there are underlying narratives to stories produced in the media. They use everything from lighting to shot angles to make a certain impression on the viewer. In this essay I will do a video analysis on Adele’s song “Someone like you. My goal is to illustrate my understanding of the many ways media producers make meaning and how we interpret that meaning. I will use narrative and semiotic analysis to see what strategies are being used to make the video. Through a careful analysis of how the video is being made we can see what type of meaning is trying to be expressed. Theoretical Frame To be able to do a video analysis it is important to understand semiotics. Semiotics is the discipline that studies the nature of any type of communication (Grossberg p.143). Its important to understand this does not only involve language but other forms of communicating such as traffic light codes, dress codes, or rolls that men and woman play. In all these things we are communicating with each other by using a system that we all understand and can relate to. Semiotics define that system as codes and those codes are constructed signs. For example the English language is a code that we use to communicate with each other. The code consist of words or signs that arbitrarily symbolize something for us. As mentioned above the traffic light is another code of communicating...

Though I tried to put it out of my mind, I couldn’t help thinking that there were two of us: my body and I. And I hated that body,” (Wiesel 85). Analysis 1: What is the youth’s response to violence? Elie who was just one of the many prisoners could do nothing against the abuse that was inflicted upon him. He couldn't even help himself less alone other people. He was in survival for quite a few years and that just mean do whatever you have to do to get through the night. This made him wish he was a different person physically Analysis 2:How did the violence affect them? Elie was hating the body he had because it wasn't fit. The body Elie had was weak and incredibly useless. A least that what he thought of it. Elie doesn't see his body and himself as one. They are both separate. The violence inflicted on him made Elie wish he had a stronger body and a more capable one. In the end, Elie was hating himself physically which definitely lowered his self-esteem Transition:...

...based on a script, which is not shown to the children, but which the adults read. This means that whilst the children undoubtedly improvise, it is not clear to what extent the adults do, particularly in scenes in which no children appear. That is the reason why I chose to only include conversations in which at least one child takes part in the analysis. Even though the adults may still use some memorised lines from the script in these instances, they are naturally forced to improvise, as well, when the children's utterances deviate from the script. I further restricted my selection to the first season, because when the children grew older, they started to read the script themselves. Tyger Drew-Honey, who plays...

... Business Decision of Uncertainty: Free Flu Vaccinations As an employee of United Parcel Service, (UPS) I had some attractive employee benefits: stock options, 401k, personal and vacation days, education reimbursement, health care insurance with low co-pays, and expense allowances for management employees. In addition, the company would supply Christmas turkeys and many times a small bonus. Besides these charitable benefits, the company offered free flu vaccination to any employee who desired one. UPS promoted the free vaccination by handing-out coupons for flu shots that was administered at the local pharmacy, hospital or med center. The benefit of developing healthy workforce is two-fold offering a more productive work environment and limiting absenteeism which is associated with the flu. The flu vaccination potentially can provide a tremendous return on investment. So using the cost on return allowed me to investigate and compare the benefit to cost. Research The cost and benefit the company receives from vaccinated employees as compared with the benefits of receiving a free flu vaccination. Listed are the various probabilities: * Probability of catching the flu * Probability vaccinated and...

...Andrea Carrion 07/17/2015 Second Film Scene Analysis ‘Casablanca’ Casablanca (1942) is a melodramatic film, which was directed by Michael Curtiz. The film mixes many different topics like love, politics and war. I find it to be a very interesting and amazing film, also I love the fact that it’s still in black & white. This story takes place during World War II in Casablanca, Morocco. During that time the French controlled Casablanca and in order to get out you needed a passport or permit. The main characters in the story are Rick Blaine, Ilsa Lund, Victor Laszlo, Sam (the pianist) and Captain Renault. Throughout the film the feelings between Ilsa and Rick are portrayed and it helps you understand that at some point they probably were in love, but that love didn’t consumed and the feelings between them are something that remain unsolved. On the other side of the story when Ilsa appears in Casablanca, she’s not with Rick anymore. Instead, she’s married to Victor and this is part of the drama of the story because it’s kind of a love triangle, even though nothing happens between her and Rick. But as audience you can still get the fact that they still have feelings for each other, for example when she tells Sam “Play it Sam, play our song” and at some other point she thinks about letting go Victor to stay in Casablanca with Rick. The final scene of Casablanca is the key to the melodrama in the movie, here you can finally see what happened between Ilsa and Rick and...

...Community Teaching Experience I chose to do my teaching project at a community festival, Edgewater Founders Day 2015, honoring their founding. I was fortunate enough to have made friends with a couple of individuals that were of indescribable assistance. First was the group that allowed me to present my platform at their booth during the founder’s day celebration,The Golden Girls for Glory (Faith Based Social Club). A group of ladies that, by virtue of age, are considered older adults. They belong to varying church congregations of various faiths but come together regularly for community based activities and sponsor many events. Secondly, one of the Golden Girl’s husbands runs a printing shop and donated his time and much of the printed material, not the least of which were the banners for the canopy on the booth at the venue for the festival. The organizers of the event provided the tote bags, canopy and chairs. A local restaurant supplier married to another Golden Girl donated disposable shot glasses upon which stickers were applied. The Golden Girls Event Coordinator is the best friend of my roommate and was struggling to find a theme for their booth this year, and I just happened to be present during her conversation about her dilemma. When I asked if she would consider allowing me to do my presentation as their theme we were all ecstatic. My chosen topic was entitled “HAVE A SHOT>>>ITS GOOD FOR WHAT AILS YOU” An educational presentation for the promotion of health...

...mentioned is when Emmy’s guests are toasting to Uncle Charlie, which is considered as one of the most important scenes as it helps to put an end to the long-term drama of the Uncle. This analysis will provide insightful ideas about the movements and the framings of camera and its uses in conveying the messages, the thoughts of characters as well as the director and making the audiences live in the film’s atmosphere. The movie is about a young girl named Charlie (ACTOR)who always feels bored and not quite happy about life. ...Chemistry and Society Paper Johnathan Sutton CHM/110 15 May 2012 Jennifer Cruz Chemistry and Society Paper “In the field of science accuracy is the form of measurement that calculates the degree of closeness of a quality to its true value. Precision is a unit of measurement that is also referred as the ability to reproduce the same results multiple times” (Taylor, 1997). The differences are within the definitions, it all depends on what you are looking for within the results of a test for the proper use of these two units of measurements. Society depends on the accuracy and precision of measurements for products sold by the retail industry, such as a gallon of gasoline, a bushel of corn, or a liter of bottled water. These measurements have to be precise and accurate when it this relates to how farmers sell their products such as wheat, corn, milk, peanuts, and cotton, by weight and or in a bulk sale. Like food products gasoline, water, oil, and several other liquid goods are sold in quantity and if the measurements are not accurately sold per gallon then the United States government will not retain a profit from the barrel of gasoline, water, oil, and several other liquid goods that are purchased from other countries. I would have to say that this really is about supply and demand and the ability to generate a profit from the accuracy and precision of the weight and how much to sell an item for in most situations. Other ways society...
